but his specs are really nice; so he does not see the lagging.

remember most of the Macs the specs are above averge (if not the top specs); you seldom see low specs on the Mac (in terms of CPUs and hardware)

but on windows side you got all kinda of machines, single core, pentium 1GB RAM 2GB RAM.

Well check out my specs, it's outdated at best (I'm PERFECTLY content though) and like I said iTunes has been a champ on my machine.

It lags when you open it and it has to load the artwork for the first time, but other than that---- ?

the subdued look to the sidebar is a big plus to me, looks a lot more streamlined and less cluttered, imo. still waiting though, and thats frustrating.

actually last update to iTunes works great on my iMac; but agree the icons on the apps takes a while to load...

performance improvement always welcome!

I agree it is a view into Apple's new graphical style perhaps. I don't know how to describe it.

The new icon looks like it came straight out of WMP's UI:

Hey look!
I got it! :p

Aaaaannddd... it's still 9.2.1. But I like the icon, personally. So while I was bored, I added it for no reason...

...and now I'm telling you for no reason...

Gosh Apple is taking a long time...

can someone tell me where i can get this image temporarily? thanks. :D

Ditto that. And I'm assuming most of the complaints are coming from Mac users (considering the site..) which is even more perlexing. I could understand if it was windows, but I've not had a stutter with iTunes on my iMac.

I really don't understand the issues people have with iTunes. I keep hearing "bloated". I guess these people don't know how to trim up their collection or how to hide options that they don't need or use. I haven't found anything that works better than iTunes. Yes, Double Twist is nice and syncs with devices that iTunes doesn't but I don't use it for any other purpose than syncing with odd devices.

Only 4 hours left in "today," at least on the east coast. I guess they have 7 hours in California. Must be a last-minute bugfix or something?

Use the Download image, from the Apple website and a few posts back...

...crop and scale it up to 128x128 pixels (grainy, but trust me here)...

...save it and drag it into Icon Composer - the 128 and other smaller sections...

...save that as iTunes.icns...

...go to where iTunes is, right click, click "Show Package Contents", navigate to resources, then drag the icon you made into the field...

Viola. iTunes 9.2.1.10. :p

So wait, all iTunes 10 is is a big Facebook type thing called Ping ? Seriously ? I hate social networking crap, can I have a media player that plays media, not something that tries to tell all my friends about the Iron Maiden things I'm listening to...

First Google does it with Buzz, now Apple with Ping... *sigh*

Does anyone else wonder why after all the expansion for more "media" and devices that iTunes has gone through over the years that they still do not directly support viewing PHOTOS inside iTunes? I can watch tv or movies in it, listen to radio, listen to my own music, rent or buy media, watch or listen to Podcasts, control other devices from Apple TV to iPHones and even organize photos to view on those devices, but I cannot set up a photo album or slide-show to watch inside iTunes itself (particularly with all that music there it makes sense to me; AppleTV is setup to use photos as slide-shows while iTunes offers only "Visualizers" to watch.) I mean really, photos are like the only real type of localized media that I cannot view/watch/listen in iTunes. Playlists would make a great way to organize/create photo albums or slide-show lists and they could be easily imported from iPhoto and other sources as well.

The name itself is getting out of date. It's more like iMedia these days than iTunes, but Photographs are a huge slice of media that would be SIMPLE for iTunes to add. I shouldn't have to open a hulking (and not free except with new Macs) program like iPhoto just to watch some slideshows and Preview is too simple. I'd certainly find that feature more useful than "Ping".

Not sure why all the hate for the new logo. Looks fine to me.

People just like to bitch about anything (on this site especially for some reason). Mark my word, they'll all get over it or realize they never really minded it in the first place. Even then, out of the entire user base, we're talking about a small percentage of people who are the most vocal. For anyone who doesn't believe me, just look at the MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, iOS, etc. Those names were supposedly "loathed" by everyone. I couldn't believe how many people thought Apple was going to go out of business because of it. Guess what? 3 weeks later nobody even cared or remember anymore. A very small amount of people bitch either because they hate change or they just like to jump on the bandwagon.

I mean come on, this is an icon we're talking about. One single measly icon. Who cares? This is the kind of crap I'm talking about:

it doesnt look centred or round actually, it looks like the sides have been pushed back so the middle is shoved in your face. I will be finding a gorgeous new icon on DeviantArt. I was happy with the rest of the keynote and iTunes but the icon ruined it all!!

Don't use it, then. It's not a feature you'll be forced to use. If this really bothers you that much, take a walk outside (yes, in the Real World) and cool off.

oh my god...RELAX, for crying out loud.

Oh I'm relaxed. Are you? I don't really care that much, to be honest, just having a bit of fun, bored, waiting for the iTunes download to come live. :)

nice photoshop job. clearly that is not the wmp icon ;)

The eyes of an eagle.

What about this one though - sure looks real to me. Could Apple be going into this direction for future versions of OS X ? ;)

(Sorry, I'll stop now.)

you don't have to use it and probably will be able to hide it

It's 0104 here in the UK.

they won't run off uk time, it's on cupertino time, they still got 7 hours or so...

lol unfortunately that may be true.. and it just seemed obvious that a music note wouldn't be a play button, so i googled it, and confirmed my suspicions.
