Well it can't. For the sole reason of this finally being a native 64bit Cocoa App.

If it is finally Cocoa then they did one of two things:

1. Ported Cocoa run-time and created a one-off Cocoa-Windows API layer or
2. Forked the code and are maintaining 2 separate branches of UI layers while sharing as much of the foundation across both platforms.

I'm betting on 2.

I don't like that they got rid on the album artwork on the bottom left. It really helped when I had to put in artwork from the internet and sync them onto my iPhone. Now when I try to sync the artwork won't show up.

Apple's servers getting hit hard with everyone uploading their library info for the added covers and artist info.

AGAIN: In case I do NOT like it, is it just a matter of rolling back to 10.7 via TM or is some tinkering necessary?

No one here actually tried that yet... so how would they know?

You CAN of course roll back to an older version of iTunes via Time Machine.
The only possible issue I see on the horizon, however, is, that iTunes 11 updated your Library. Whether this renders the Library inaccessible for iTunes 10 I do not know.
Assuming your iTunes Library is backed up via TM as well... that should fix the issue.
Basically I am just smart guessing here, though.

What a disappointment.

Where are all the major changes? All I see is they sharpened some corners, took away options, and made it less organized.

And where is iTunes DJ?

And where is Cover Flow?

Exactly. And where is album art in Songs view?

Right, thank god for filehippo.com. I'm rolling back to 10.7 :(

The search is ridiculously slow now -- I have a very large library (I'm a musician) and the search now takes several seconds to do anything, even if I turn off "Search Entire Library." If I tell it to search a single thing (like only Composer) it is slightly faster, but still much slower than the previous version. Huge step backwards.

works instant for me

Eventually you'll have to update to either 1) buy new content, 2) use the next iOS version, or 3) use the next OSX version.

yeah, but it only goes from small to medium

I'm talking about the Album view, which I think is fixed and can't be changed. And even if I go to the Artist view, the largest setting is still too small. I guess you have to get used to this size hfffff.

I never used the DJ but love the Up Next and play next.

The device section is kind of ugly though. Not a fan of the bold fonts.

This is also the first time I've installed bonjour to go along with itunes and using the remote is really cool. Like the passcode thing and that you don't need to use home sharing. But the lyrics don't show up unfortunately.

I am really missing the dark background option and iTunes DJ. The speed increase is nice though. Guess can't have everything the same.

I haven't read the whole thread on my phone so pardon if its been asked before -

Does the new update fix the bug in iTunes for windows where applemobiledevicehelper.exe sucks up 50% CPU load at all times even when idle?

just got in and saw the new release and a massive thread, so apologies if what im asking has been covered in detail.

i have itunes match and 150 gigs of music. am i right in reading that i can delete my whole library and stream from icloud?

if this is the case, once ive deleted it, how would i redownload it if i wanted it back on my computer as i cant see anything in settings about switching from streaming from cloud to downloading from cloud.

Not bad. I figured it would come out today when I saw "Remote" had an update on my iOS devices featuring a new icon. Sure enough got home and there was the update. I like the GUI. Bit of a learning curve and yeah there is some stuff missing that we've all come to expect iTunes to have.

I personally never used Coverflow. It was neat to put onto the screen when you have a party and let people flip through things in full screen mode to pick the tunes. Other than that I found it a bit of a resource hog. Wonder of if it's absence has anything to do with the fact other companies now have coverflow-like GUI's for some of their mobile devices. Strange and interesting.

Buggy, yep. Gotta re-type in a few things so albums stay albums and not fracture into a thousand compilations.

It's... really friggin' fast.

The rest of the program seems faster, but not search. Maybe it's related to library size? I've got about 65000 songs.

Should add I'm on a low-end Mac Pro (desktop tower, not a MacBook Pro) with 16 GB RAM. 3.2 GHz single processor. It really should be plenty fast for filtering -- it was with iTunes 10.7.

I have this problem too. I only have 8,180 MP3's loaded in to my library but iTunes is incredibly slow on searching. It's very laggy bringing up that little pop-up menu on searching aswell.

I'm using the MacBook Pro in my signature (C2D 2.93GHz + 9600GT) I know it's old now (Early 2009) but .. searching is slow? really lol I can only imagine this is a bug of some kind but it is atleast 15-20x slower than the old iTunes on searching which to me was instant.

Also another issue I've found is when I select a song and click on "Start Genius" nothing happens.. it does create a genius playlist .. somewhere but it isn't showing it to me and my view of the app does not change at all. I don't like this one bit I preferred where it showed a small menu of the songs that were going to be inside the Genius playlist. Also they have nested the genius button in to a pop out menu which is counter intuitive.
