Does the update fix this?:

Is this finally the return of the non-hiding repeat option?? Hated having to dive into a menu without a shortcut because the repeat icon wasn't visible.

I use Plex, I don't care about iTunes.

And I hate that! iTunes used to be great, now I'm forced to manage my media in a website! Web interface that is.

Please Apple, burn iTunes to ground, make apps that just works like the iOS ones, Videos, Podcasts, update iBooks with audiobooks, iTunes U & update iSync, Music.

First impressions for iTunes 12.4 on Windows:

+ You can hide the Sidebar by going to View > Hide/Show Sidebar (Ctrl+S)
+ Album artwork loads quicker.

- iTunes logo doesn't display in the taskbar
- No way to hide the menu
- Slower performance compared to previous version.

A nice change but I still cross my fingers in hopes we get a suite of Apple applications that each have their own function

iBooks
Movies
Shows
Apple Music
iTunes (local music & podcasts)

I'm not a developer but how hard it is for Apple to port these apps from iOS? Tweak them for Magic Mouse input and call it a day!

It appears this has been fixed, but the repeat and shuffle buttons are now on opposite sides.

I also remember how intrigued I was when I purchased my first Intel Mac and could run Windows (if I absolutely HAD to, yuck!).
exactly the days i've joined this forum, first boot camp release on an 2 GHz Intel Core Duo iMac (the last 32 bit).
Still rocking for basic web browsing and iPods syncing in the basement floor.

Personally I think it's got a hell of a lot worse. I installed it and went back to 12.3.3, even though I never downgrade my software.
If you remove the sidebar you lose control on how to display your music which is mad
You can change the views through the menu now, which isn't significantly worse than clicking the drop-down (and there are keyboard shortcuts).

Loving this new return to form in iTunes 12.4! I hope they bring back the corner album art at the bottom left of the app like the old version used to have. Is this a possibility with 12.4 right now that I just don't know how to turn on?

I have given up on Apple's flair to be able to create good software any more. Their decisions just blow my brains off!

What's up with black interface in Movies and TV shows App Store, but not for Music? First of all, black interface looks terrible.

What's the big deal with sidebar? It was there before, just not visible by default.

Oh boy. Separate apps for Apple Music and local music?!?! Please tell me this is not something people are clamoring for. The ability to mix Apple Music with all of my ripped stuff is one of the main things Apple Music has going for it that the main competitors do not (even if they don't seem to get that because they never, ever make that point in any of their marketing, ha).

Splitting iBooks into a separate app made sense (it's not really in the "media" category in the same way as the others), but I don't even want separate desktop apps for movies and shows (on iOS it was a great idea, but that's a totally different beast). Don't see the point, frankly — it's not like you're ever going to listen to music and watch a movie at the same time. And judging from Photos, iBooks, etc., it is unlikely that Modern Apple would bake in the kinds of advanced features that iTunes has into new from-the-ground-up apps (I know, most people wouldn't care, because most people aren't using complex smart playlists or customizing their views or being anal about their metadata, but for the power users, these things are huge). If anything, I want more power user features and customization for Movies and TV, not less, and if they split those up into their own apps, you know they are going to be the most basic apps possible, and in all likelihood will struggle (or outright fail) with regards to feature parity and consistency.

For example, the "Up Next" feature came to iTunes late in 2012 (and the Apple TV around the same time) but didn't make it into the Music app on iOS until June of 2015. It then came to the iOS Podcasts app a few months later in September of 2015, and so far, has still not made its way into the iTunes U app on iOS, where I could really use it. Imagine that kind of thing, but on a much larger scale, because I have no doubt that's the tip of the iceberg of the kind of inconsistency we would get if they split iTunes into four or five apps.

I know iTunes has its bugs and some other UI problems, but I'd much rather Apple put the effort into making those right than just splitting it off into several more apps for them to neglect.

Question for those who still use iTunes to sync/backup their devices -- was any functionality removed?

I can deal with the constantly changing and cruddy UI, but the most unpleasant changes are the unexpected removal of sync functionality, which is a big part of why I still use iTunes. They've been slowly chipping away at those functions.

Once they're gone, and Apple makes everything go through iCloud and the Store, is going to be the final nail in iTunes' coffin for me.
