When in the "artist" view, at the top of the list on the left, you could click on recently added...but that's gone. I loved that feature.

Ive just noticed this too :( however!! Click on the recently added playlist at the side, then click view at the top, then view as and select album and hey presto!!

EDIT - There is also recently added directly under library!

All I want is the ability to split my library anyway I want. But hey, what do I know. I'm just some silly user who really doesn't want to control my stuff.

A nice change but I still cross my fingers in hopes we get a suite of Apple applications that each have their own function

iBooks
Movies
Shows
Apple Music
iTunes (local music & podcasts)

Yeah, because having Music, iBooks, Videos and Podcasts in IOS 9 is so ***** great. The last thing I want is more stupid apps. Just make minor changes and fix bugs. Why people keep calling for iTunes to be split is beyond me because it's pretty damn obnoxious having separate apps in IOS.

Oh ffs this is awful.

- I loved the little thing that showed you were signed into iTunes, that you could see from any screen, given multiple accounts get used on this computer.
- The navigation forward and backwards buttons are pointless
- The drop down picker is stupid, quicker just to use the little icons.
- The plus button for playlist creation is gone meaning its hidden behind a right click
- The side bar always being there is annoying. WHY WHY WHY can't we go back to the option of having the sidebar or not... If we have a side bar, why can't the media choice be there. The stupid drop down menu is just as bad as it is on iOS.
- Recently added is now a separate section ?? I preferred it to be incorporated into views, so when I went into albums, it would be there for example
- The new up next icon is clunky as are the icons for connected devices (This update seems less modern)
- New device view is annoying in that the old one was an easy swap between views, now for some stupid reason it seems to be a seperate screen where you have to press 'done'.
- Artists used to have a great colour behind them, now its all white.
- Theres no transparency anywhere on the app, which makes it no longer fit in with other applications
-

I wasn't a huge fan of some things that iTunes 12 introduced, but this is the worst version ever.

View - Show/Hide iCloud Music Purchases doesn't hide Music Videos when set to Hide iCloud Music Purchases. Annoying

They ****ing butchered the UI. Why is there a stupid sidebar? Why isn't the artists sidebar transparent? Why is only the title bar colored as the album art and not the whole backdrop?

Just ****ing break iTunes
That's way too many apps! It will never happen. If anything it will be Books, Videos, Music. 3 separate apps, no more. We already have iBooks, so take TV Shows and Movies out of iTunes and give them their own app, then keep iTunes Audio only and we're good to go.

Podcasts need their own app too.

Adding 6 more apps doesn't fix the problem. Only makes it even bigger and a larger headache. Which is why I have a feeling it hasn't and won't happen. If they came at me saying wow here are our 6 'new' apps each with thinned functionality to be as basic as possible I would laugh in their face. Fragmentation does not lead to simplicity or user friendliness.

How is it fragmentation?

Just look at iOS. No one has a problem with separate apps. It's a million times better.

So now i can star songs to 'play more like this', click a heart to 'love' them and also give them a separate star rating out of 5? What?

I can confirm that some of my personal music has been deleted. It seems to be music Apple doesn't have on their servers like Tool. Also, now Tool won't play on my music app on my iPhone or iPad so it isn't just an iTunes glitch. I'm glad I backed up my music to Google's free music manager. Really Apple? Btw I turned Apple Music back on last week to give it a try, it is still horrible with bad UI, poor playlists (max of 18 songs if you're lucky) and now this crap! I'm back on Spotify and will use Google Music to manage my own music now.

I haven't lost anything. Although I did a TM backup before updating just in case. Maybe my library had stayed fairly intact because I've never used Apple Music.

It's official, Apple UX has gone down the toilet. Media selector is a turd, 2 clicks instead of 1? Wth? Even a caveman can figure out it's bad design.

The new sidebar messed up my playlists and folders. It appears i have a separate sidebar for each genre....one for music, one for audiobooks etc. The previous version i could have different genres on the same sidebar and in the same folder on that sidebar. That was useful for managing the several devices that i connect to iTunes.

I really do not need my files being scattered about in different sidebars or different programs/apps. Audiobooks are are "audio" . They should stay in iTunes.

I am reverting to the previous version.

You can show "All Playlists" by clicking on the Music Playlists heading. I have mine setup to do something similar. If you're using Smart Playlists, you might have to go in each and point to audiobooks by the way.

It still crashes when I do something very simple, like i just sorted Artists in descending alphabetical order and that did it. It is now endlessly "checking iTunes library". It still can't find my iPad, which is sitting less than a foot from the screen on the same network. So it's still a turd. But the layout is indeed more simple. A big improvement over all the things they broke last time they improved it. It's a shame it's the best turd in town. I am yet to find anything that can organize my collection better.

Seriously.. I feel like im taking CRAZY pills. The sidebar has ALWAYS been an option. Now things are even worse though. Now I have to click twice to go between music, movies, etc. instead of just clicking the icon of where I want to go.

Another iTunes FAIL by apple.

Twice??? Another iTunes FAIL??? I just click once. Is yours broken? Much cleaner, and the dropdown can be edited.

Overall this is an excellent update. Like it a lot.

Alright lets review what's actually happening with that pull-down menu:

iTunes 12.3
1. Aim pointer at section you want and click

iTunes 12.4
1. Aim pointer at pull-down and click it once or click-and-hold
2. Drag up or down mouse pointer to the item you want
3. Click mouse on item you want, or release mouse button, depending on what you did on step 1

This is tedious and ridiculous compared to the previous way.

Oh and btw that pull-down menu is a moving target and not static/fixed as before:

So the user has no muscle memory advantage here. The pull-down menu is a moving target which hinders usability when compared to the previous UI where sections where always fixed in position.
