With all the beta and GM leaks no one saw this one coming. So at least Tim got one good surprise on us all
Maybe that's something all the rumor mongers should focus on in future, trying to dig out what the software changes are when

People are saying this is a good thing, they don’t realise the lost functionality. If they want to improve iTunes performance nd make it less cluttered, completely removing features like this isn’t the answer. I agree with it, but I also think there should be another application for syncing devices and managing apps.
NO, you cannot drag as you described. Obviously you have not tried it yourself.goto itunes and select on my device on the left then click on tones then on your mac drag and drop the tones you created into the tones section on your device it will copy them over to your device.
The same goes for any books you have that isnt brought.
I’m not sure why that is not clickable but just so you know (and anyone else who may have concerns) it is ok to upgrade to iOS 10.3.3 and still use ALL your 32Bit apps no longer available as of iOS 11 (in case I didn’t make that clear). But iOS 10.3.3 is the last iOS that will allow all those 32Bit apps to work. What is the above supposed to show? The "Applications" section isn't clickable for me, using iOS 10.2.1. Thanks.

Curious about this as well.
Still won't let you buy the app, click on one of them, and a web page opens providing the details with no option to purchase
Great decision Apple. Who downloads iOS apps on their Mac anyway?
Anything that removes bloat from iTunes is good for me.
That’s not his concern. (Why won’t people actually read what people concerns are instead of just whipping out a snippy answer?)The iBooks app? I've certainly added plenty of my own epub's and PDF's to it.
Wow. I look at apps and decide what to buy on my nice big Mac screen. I arrange them on my Mac and sync to my phone. Stupid, thoughtless, pointless, not at all customer-centric decision. I cannot fathom at what point that became a good idea in someone's mind. I guess my dwindling interest in anything Apple is not just coincidence.
What if you made your own custom ringtones?
I guess Apple would rather 100% of people get better performance at the expense of 1% of total users who used that outdated functionality.
I don't get this thread.
To add ringtones and old apps, just find the files and drag them to the phone in iTunes.

If you want to delete a custom ringtone, in phone summary tick "Manually manage music and videos" then go to the ringtones section and simply delete the ones you don't want.
The functions to sync and backup phones are still there.
They've just removed the "app" tab, not the backup functions.Has anyone using 12.7 did a full backup via USB, then a full restore to an iPhone or iPad? We cannot use iCloud for backups here, only local via iTunes. Will we lose this function?
Seems to work for me (High Sierra, iTunes 12.7, iPhone 6S). I go to "tones" on my phone in iTunes and I can untick any, and I can right (ctrl) click and select "delete from library".I ticked that option and can't delete ringtones.
Yes I know that but a full local backup saved apps and data - does 12.7 affect that? They've just removed the "app" tab, not the backup functions.
Sorry MY bad. After a few tries I somehow got it to work. My apologies. It is now confirmed that you can use your own ringtones.NO, you cannot drag as you described. Obviously you have not tried it yourself.
Ah - good question. I guess you mean ... does it still back up the apps or is it like an iCloud backup whereby it only saves the app names and hence forces them to be re-downloaded? I'm not willing to test thisYes I know that but a full local backup saved apps and data - does 12.7 affect that?
