In case anyone likes older version of iTunes, Here's a screenshot I took today:
View attachment 723758

iTunes 10.4.1 runs just fine along with High Sierra.
I gave the old version a different name, myTunes, so it's not replaced during the install.
Dirty install of HS onto external spinner did not replace my iTunes 12.7 copy either.
That works too.
I keep my music, a lib for each iTunes version, on the Mac's slow 5400rpm spinner.

If you're having trouble downdating your iTunes, don't give up.
High Sierra is not a deal breaker on this.

So I could use iTunes 10 just for managing apps and ringtones on ios devices and iTune 12.7 for everything else? I guess the ios App Store will need to support old versions of iTunes for a few more years!

Update
I haven't tried it yet but...
"Note that downgrading from iTunes 12 is likely to limit your ability to sync an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a Mac with iTunes. Typically new versions of iOS require the newest versions of iTunes to sync, restore, and backup to, there’s no way around that."

OK - just tried the OSX Daily tips and it was a near disaster. On my system Sierra is not happy running an old version of iTunes and this happens when macOS boots up - not when I launch iTunes (something to do with system integrity checks). Fortunately I managed to fix things using the sudo command in Terminal and restore the latest iTunes. Now I am back to square one - unable to manage apps and ringtones on my iPhone & iPad. I will need to do this manually - Grrr!

The only other options seems to be to lobby Apple to bring it back:

Yeah, I was just about to ask that. I've made a lot of custom ringtones that I don't want to lose. What happens to them now?
i spent an hour on the phone with apple, on this problem. they screwed the pooch. they didn't think of the GB menu that says send ringtone to iTunes. if you try it now it comes up a dud.

Thanks for that link. I will give 12.6.3 a try (after backing up yet again)
Re-verting to iTunes 12.6.3 worked for me. Before I installed it I over-wrote the /Music/iTunes folder with a Time Machine back-up from a month ago. Now apps, podcasts and ringtones are back in the iTunes menu. Note that the installation of 12.6.3 automatically fixes all of the background files that were changed by 12.7. That means no Terminal commands are needed. Also it does not seem to keep reminding me to "update" to 12.7. I wonder how long that will last!

Reporting back.

I've "re-upgraded" to 12.6.3 and couldn't be happier: AppStore is there and also latest Configurator seems to work fine with it.

It won't remind you to upgrade ever again (according to Apple):

"You won’t be prompted to download new versions of iTunes after you install this version."

That all sounds great. I've not updated to 12.7 so shouldn't have any problems, but I'm wondering what will happen when I eventually upgrade to High Sierra?

I am running it (12.6.3) on High Sierra and I even have downgraded it from 12.7.
By the way, I don't think OSX automatically upgrades your iTunes, AFAIK iTunes has its own update routine, because I was running 12.6.2 on High Sierra before 12.7 came out.

In any case, its pretty safe, since you can always downgrade to 12.6.3, like I did.

Hope, it helps.

In a day filled with surprises, Apple has shocked us once again with the release of iTunes 12.7, which entirely revamps the iTunes App. The new iTunes is designed to focus solely on music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audiobooks, which means there is no built-in App Store.

Yeah! And it really annoys me because my wife and I have six devices between us - an iPhone, and small iPad and a Large iPad each. Where I once was able to download an app once and then load it on to each device, now I have to download each app and update six times.

I've now had to increase my download quota with my ISP - an extra $20 a month.

Know what I think of Apple!!!

I will second "Even Longer" 's comments - I have iTunes 12.6.3 running on High Sierra and everything is back the way it was before 12.7 and the annoying 12.7 glitch with the resizing of the window is gone as well. :)

Hello everyone!

I downloaded iTunes version 12.6.3 for the first time using the link on the Apple Support page.

However, when I clicked on "Updates" it says there are no updates available for the apps but when I plug my iPhone in it says there are updates for some of the apps when you click on the "Apps" listing on the left side when the device is plugged in.

Why does it say there are no updates available in the Updates screen across the top??

Please, can someone help me with this. I am a new user using this on a PC.

Many thanks

I know this is old news, but I just updated my iTunes and found out about this. I have hundreds of apps that are unorganized on my iPhone and was going to use iTunes to organize them in folders like I've done in the past. Is there a way to organize apps without having to do it on the phone?

See the thread at the link below. Apple released iTunes 12.6.3, which has the AppStore and organizing functions that were in iTunes before 12.7.

I never used iTunes to download apps, but I do have many apps and it's impossible to manage them all on the iPhone. I have 12 pages of app in folders and I could only mange them on iTunes. There is no way to index or find the location of a specific app on the iPhone. Search will find it, but you don't know where it is!

Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage you can see a list of everything on your phone and delete it all easily

It tells you exactly which folder you have the app in, so...?

Thanks H3LL5P4WN - That is true, but it doesn't allow me to visualize what app is in what folder or what page a folder is on. iTunes was great for moving things around!

That's why I only updated to iTunes 12.6.3 (which retains the App Store) and dropped back to it for my wife on her Mac. Having a centralized place to manage all of them is a hell of a lot easier, especially when it comes to managing iPhones in an enterprise environment.

Excellent points, both of you.

Agreed, I can not believe apple removed this functionality without having a stand alone app to manage apps.
