i just hope i wont have to restore my iphone to factory setting again because of the updates that i did. Im not going to plug it in untill i have to, just to be safe, i dont feel like redoing all my hacks at the moment. I was looking around on this forum while the update was being downloaded and my macbook crashed for the first time i think. When i restarted it i got the message that os accidently shut down or something like that. Very weird. Now safari wont launch and it wont let me check for updates. I dont know if the update got downloaded or what. weird this is the first time this has ever happened to me.

I really doubt it would restore your phone. I mean the update was just for stability. Then again my iPhone isn't hacked up and I haven't tested it.

Anyway, I need to give those hacks a try ... I'm just scared.

I previously had problems with playback (in iTunes) of puchased movies. After applying this update, those appear to have gone away. Let's hope it stays that way!

I just re-modded my phone, too. I had to restore mine after updating the iPhone software. It syncs fine with iTunes 7.3.2 software.

iTunes Can't Sync Yahoo Address Book after 7.3.2.6 Upgrade

I first posted this on the iPhone forum and then thought maybe I should of posted here. So this is cross posted.

I just upgraded my iTunes to 7.3.2.6 and after tried to sync my iPhone with Yahoo Address Book and it failed. No other problems, just Yahoo Address Book. Not sure it has anything to do with the upgrade but I have "never" had a problem before with this. I have tried a number of times with no luck.

".... unknown error occured (4). Please try again later."

Anybody else using Yahoo Address Book with iPhone Contacts?

Disc Burner in Use by Another Program

wtf is this?

I get this error since the 7.3.2.6 update. I have repaired permissions before AND after installing the update.

I can burn CDs using Toast, so it is not the burner which is at fault, but iTunes.

Any suggestions (and HOW-TO) on fixing this (or reverting to iTunes 7.3.1.x if that is my only option)?

Thanks :)

Hacks

I don't understand WHY any of you would ever perform the hacks that you have on a 500 or 600 dollar phone just so you can change your icons around or have a couple of ring tones. The iPhone is not made for it, just be patient and wait for updates or just enjoy the phone for what it is. I have been reading all of these posts with everyone complaining how the hacks messed up their phone and then everyone wants to do it all over again. It's just stupid. Stop the madness or perform the hacks and stop complaining when updates come out and your phone is fried.

True, there is some risk, but I don't think anyone has reported a bricked iPhone because of it. Also, this was the first software/firmware update for it and no one really knew what to expect. Some people (like me) went in blindly only to find I had to restore everything after I had reinstalled XP on my laptop (nearly lost contacts but had the file somewhere). But now that we know what happens, people will sync contacts and make sure they have everything they need ready. Plus I think now we've downloaded the iPhone restore image we won't have to again, but I could be wrong.

It's not like people are trying to swap the EDGE radio for a 3G one or anything (that I know of...)

Ugh... iTunes will not even start since I updated. My dock icon bounces a couple times, the indicator arrow shows up under the icon for a couple seconds, then nothing...nada. I've repaired permissions...haven't tried anything else (other than a few restarts)...

quick update; fixed skipping issue w/ display sleep?

painless update. maybe it happened very fast and i missed it, but i didn't even see the "updating library" dialog and progress bar that i seem to remember from all the recent itunes updates.

i was having an issue since getting a macbook pro where my itunes playback would skip pretty severely whenever my display went to sleep (not the end of the world but kind of annoying); not 100% sure, but i can't get it to reproduce this bug now, so maybe it's been fixed! i hadn't heard about other people experiencing this issue in the first place, though.

Try opening it directly from Applicatons and if that works replace the dock icon alias.

Fix backing up to dvd yet?

Until I see a list of fixes, I'm not bothering with this release; I already learned that lesson the hard way.

Until the other day I was running 7.3.1.
Tried doing an incremental backup of my library to dvd. Asks for a blank disk, I insert a blank dvd. Reads it, works for 15-20mins on getting the songs to burn (while leaving the ones already backed up). Spits out the dvd saying it's not blank; "insert blank disk". I pick another one from the spindle and put it in. 10 seconds later, spits it out. "Insert blank disk." Tried 6 different disks, ALL BLANK, finally I just quit the backup.

[Before someone says it - no it's not a problem with the media (Ritek), my burner (LiteOn), my computer, the OS (XP...keep the MS jokes to yourselves please :p)...nothing. It's an iTunes problem that is well documented on both Windows and Mac. Several threads, in fact, on Apple's support boards, actually. :)]

After doing some google searching, I found out this is a problem with 7.3.1 and dvds. Apparently it will backup ok to cd, but not dvds. 7.2 doesn't have this problem, so I found a 7.2 installer on Filehippo...uninstall 7.3.1, install 7.2, try the backup again - no problem. Worked the first time around, took 3 dvds. (The same 3 from the top that 7.3.1 didn't take. :D)

Hopefully they fixed this issue with this update to 7.3.2 but without seeing a bug fix that specifies that its fixed - I won't bother with the update.

Um, Tiger is an Operating System. iTunes is an Application. Two very different things (if you know anything about computers).

Yes, but he is saying that instead of going from 7.3.9-->7.4, they could take after Tiger's and keep going (i.e. 10.4.10 comes after 10.4.9, NOT 10.5)

So leet, you can't detect subtlety. It's your smug attitude that makes people hate Apple and Mac users. Grow up.

Ding, ding, ding!

Last years update on the 6Gen iPod was a joke, admit it. More battery life, brighter display, thats what Apple wasted a YEAR on coming up with? They should invest more time and money into the iPod, without that little sucker, there would be no Apple Inc. The iPod saved the company, so why not help out the people who bought the product who saved your company by making a watered down iPhone as an iPod?

Microsoft investment saved the company, I think. iMac got it able to support itself. iPod gave it greater market share and large profits to come up with more stuff.

I think. Still, the iMac has more to do with saving apple than the iPod.

Plus, I despise the iPhone because it delayed my iMac update. :(

i had this happen once after updating and it all came around because of a shapeshifter theme. try going to shapeshifter and go to aqua then restart your mac, then try itunes, if it starts working go reapply your theme and all should still be merry

i think the ipod inadvertently saved apple, somewhere i read that apple gains a lot of its switching to computers from people using and knowing about the ipod/itunes store.

honestly we can really say that good marketing and rebranding saved apple

but apple isn't out of the hole yet
