Um, Tiger is an Operating System. iTunes is an Application. Two very different things (if you know anything about computers).

n00b

An operating system is just an application that runs straight off the hardware. Other applications run inside it. Not that much different.

In fact you can have an application running inside an operating system inside an application inside an operating system inside another operating system inside the BIOS inside the motherboard. My example:

Appleworks > Mac OS 9 > SheepShaver > Win 2k > DOS > BIOS > Motherboard.

You (may not have) misspelled "1337". :D

Edit: Since when did 733t also equal leet? I didn't get the memo!

I've also seen r337/3r337, which makes no sense but follows the silly consonant substitution done by people who are to r337 to be 1337 (or did I mean 733t? hehe). Sorta like how 0wn3d isn't cool enough anymore, so now it's pwn3d.

BTW if you google 733t you'll get a lot of hits :p

It becomes more and more obvious how neglected the Mac users are. The iPhone has taken all Apples time and has made iTunes bloated with stuff that most people do not need. I'm thinking about all the iPhone stuff built in and other sync features not nescessary for what the iTunes app really is all about. This is the 5th update in a very short time. Not very Apple like to neglect their core costumers. Get back on track Apple! Lets see some SOLID software so that we won't have to update the same app so many times in a row.

Frequent?

No it's not. These itunes updates piss me off. The less I need to mess with quicktime settings the better.

I have to say, i LOVE Apple and they stay on top of updates and security. But seriously..... do you think they could update iTunes a little more??? It is getting a little annoying and ridiculous to have to update it almost every week lol. wow!

Apple should also consider to upgrade there windows upgrader... that this is buggy as **.

1. It's always downloading AGAIN and AGAIN if something doesn't work (good for the datatraffic I guess :p).
2. And always download EVERYTHING (QT, QT+IT, Safari even when you only installed safari).
- And how about that I always have to download WHOLE itunes... instead of just the changed files (the whole 30MB, every little update).
3. If connection is lost, you can hit CANCEL... but that will just do nothing but saying 'cancelling....' (for some 5 hours)

I get... Errors occurred while installing updates. If the problem persists, choose Tools > Download Only and try installing manually.

So I end up installing iTunes manually all the time.

Wait - iPhone or iTunes users arent Mac owners?

News to me.

Not going to happen

maybe it's for the new ipods coming on tuesday?;)

I know all you people are just being hopeful but there will NOT be an ipod update on Tuesday, partially because apple has said it's going to be MAC related, and also because it's just not time for it yet.

Might be coming soon, but not this soon...... and I can't wait

This is correct but in the Belgian apple store you can buy a Refurbished iPod shuffle 1GB - Silver with a 39 % discount. Normally there are no refurbs or discounts or other promo's in this section.

Sorry, but you're a little out there. An operating system is software that controls and allocates hardware resources. Windows 2000 runs off the NT kernel, it does not run on top of DOS, and no version of Windows has since 98/Me. And the OS does not run "in" the BIOS either, certainly not if it supports ACPI, in which case the only job of the BIOS on a modern PC is to run the hardware check at POST and begin the boot procedure before handing full control over to the OS.

I don't understand WHY any of you would ever perform the hacks that you have on a 500 or 600 dollar phone just so you can change your icons around or have a couple of ring tones. The iPhone is not made for it, just be patient and wait for updates or just enjoy the phone for what it is. I have been reading all of these posts with everyone complaining how the hacks messed up their phone and then everyone wants to do it all over again. It's just stupid. Stop the madness or perform the hacks and stop complaining when updates come out and your phone is fried.

The hacks are pretty nice though.

As someone who totally respects the iPhone and all that it already did, I think the custom ringtone issue was fairly important so I could have an audible caller ID.

As a guy that doesn't normally hack anything, I found this particular hack to be BEYOND user friendly. If i have to restore my phone every now and then, so be it. No big deal... Really.

what?!

This update fixes the iPhone sync to iCal calendar bug.

What is this iPhone sync to iCal calendar bug you speak of? I had a problem and AppleCare insists it's my data (evidently, my data is so powerful it can cause the iPhone to freeze reproducibly). I ended up having to ditch all data and start all new calendars and then it worked fine. Does this mean I can import all that old data now?

This update fixes the iPhone sync to iCal calendar bug.

I hope it fixes my iPod Address Book sync too. For some weird reason, when I plug my iPod, iTunes says it is updating but some info (like a new phone number for an existing contact, or a picture for an other contact) doesn't get updated... :(:(

Anyway, for the washed shuffle, I'm pretty sure I saw something about that on Apple's site... Something like "The new iTunes update fix a bug about some shuffle that have been drop in the washing mashing" or something like that... ;)

I wager the new i-pod comes out next week, touchscreen and all. If the i-tunes update and the rumors about another touchscreen apple device being developed in tandem with the i-phone doesn't spell out imminent "i-pod update", then I don't know what else does.

I hope you're right, but I'm not holding my breath:

1. September or early October makes sense for a pre-Christmas push.

2. Apple likes to make major inventory changes at the beginning of a quarter -- post-Macworld in January, post-WWDC in July, iPhone beginning of July, pre-Christmas in October, etc. -- to get good quarter-over-quarter comparisons. (That doesn't explain the new iMac coming in the middle of the quarter, but it still seems like a general rule.)

3. There's a promotion on nano right now with the purchase of a Mac, and it ends in late September.

Whenever it comes, I really hope Apple doesn't stiff us with another minor revision. The technology is there from the iPhone, the 6G is ugly, and it's time to get wide!

how do people give this post a negative. Its not speculative info or anything like that, its not a new product.... what is there to dislike for a software update?

it seems to me that internet slang is often mixed up somewhere between humor and sneering .. i seem to recall in the old leetspeak argot culture - 31337 (eleet) became 1337 (leet) which gave way to 133t and more recently r337 (if you've got an accent or grew up in a country where your "r" and "l" sounds are interchangable) and now 733t? this looks more like teet and a subtle play on a younger n00b to me .. at some point maybe we should just resort to ascii ..

Maybe this has something to do with the iTablet coming on Tuesday. Timing is perfect. Maybe like the iPhone, the iTablet has its own tab in iTunes, LOL.

Maybe you haven't been paying attention? A major OS upgrade is just around the corner.

"So many times in a row", 7.3.1 + 7.3.2 ?
