27 MB on my 12" PowerBook. I like the new widgets, especially the Ski Report one. Makes me want to go skiing tomorrow :). Also, whereas the ripple effect used to stutter slightly on my PowerBook, it is now perfectly smooth like on the Power Mac.

First findings

dashboard = definately faster

Frontrow hack still works...(first time I've installed it...appears to work fine)

G5 fan speed....hmm, appears same, but I've never noticed my fans being particularly loud

Aperture = still annoying bug where scrolling through albums is pixellated thumbnails for a split second...bizarrely this bug doesn't appear in full screen mode....

no crashes, no weird occurances so far...all good...

I hope it fixes that chirping problem, although I haven't heard that in a while (maybe I'm used to it).

You can stop the chirping by setting the CPU energy saver to 'automatic'. When you need the maximum power - put up with the chriping.

My Mac has had this from the first week or so. I just live with it. It'll need to be looked at eventually becuase the sound is quite screwed up. Apple Care to the rescue!! :)

As for Front row - mine works without any faffing about. i used the fix that meant it needed to change files in some sort of library somewhere - cant remember. Anyway - it still works.

Still like 10.4.0 in my opinion. Runs like a charm. :)

Anybody comment on framerates for Games? How good are the updated drivers?! Wow? Doom?

The widgets are definitely loading faster for me, as well as doing the proper animation for when you hit the info button to turn to the "backside" of the widget. This didn't work before the update so i'm a happy camper. by the way, mac mini rev A, 1.42ghz g4, stupid small video chip, and 1gb of ram.

Will this install on a 9600 with a G3 card?

I've been running OS 9 for a while and and am thinking of finally moving to OSX by buying Tiger just to hold me over until the rev. B macintels come out. I never buy the first version of anything.:D

I have always left the machine on 'Highest' and put up with the chirping until i replied to kainjow's post. Set the performance to 'Automatic', but as soon as i browsed elsewhere - the fans started kicking in and were far louder than I had heard in months.

hmmmmm

Just installed on my QuickSilver PM. So far so good. I even think the X11 focus problem has been fixed. When I Command+Tab to X11, it brings the windows to the front. I will test this out on my PB since I know it has had the problem since I first insalled Tiger.

update: Nope, PB still has they issue with X11 and bringing its windows to the front. This must be an issue with a few specific systems.

Does the new calendar widget have the ability to launch iCal? Does it show iCal events?

(Early previews of the "red" calendar widget did that.)

Downloading right now. The Download is slower than molasses in the Winter. 49.9MB for the Quicktime update and 37min remaining. I guess I put a couple of posts onto MR in the meantime.

for some reason this update killed my airport wireless.
thankfully, i just restarted(again) and it fixed it up.
everything working good so far.

knock on desk.

iMac G5 iSight

my iMac G5 with built in iSight (20" 2.1Ghz) now has very loud fans, it never did before, they just started roaring after the first restart, repairing permissions did not fix it either. Bummer... SHould have waited...
