The long boot time after restarting had me worried for a minute. Still it wasn't as long as the one going from 10.4.2 -> 10.4.3, that really had me worried, and now everything seems fine... :)

Edit: Well, Safari still chrashes horribly when I close a tab after searching on of my favorite places: My local public library. Gonna stick with Firefox for now... ;)

Apart from that, 10.4.4 is running smoothly on my good ol' iBook:

I don't get that on mine.

QT does not play WMV files, unless you have Flip4Mac.

That still doesn't change the fact that 7.0.4 crashes when you close a WMV. Apple is probably working on fixing the underlying problem, rather than that particular instance of it.

I might be just me but the fan on my ibook has been turning on more frequently, Im not even doing anything cpu intensive.

According to macminute.com the quicktime update was reposted.

Despite the enormous download time and the longer than usual restart. My iBook took the update with grace and runs flawless so far....keeps fingers crossed...

i don't have "Tiger" in my "about this Mac" window.
Mitthrawnuruodo's window is customized - i'd say that he added that in. :p

but i do have all kinds of problems with my Dock now... it doesn't appear unless i click on the bottom of the screen, and then it doesn't 'flow' along - it stays static in the same position it opened, the magnifying effect doesn't follow my cursor.

also menu's in the menubar are b0rk3d.

usually you can click on the "File" menu, then move over to the "Edit" menu and the Edit menu will appear. not for me. i even move my mouse over the menu items, and they don't highlight.

15" PB 1.25GHz

on the up side - i like the new Calendar widget at least.

also - no new version of Saft out yet for 10.4.4?

also i forgot to mention that i've got QuickTime 7.0.4? will my PB blow up? i got this from Software Update just within the last hour as well... so am i to believe this is the updated version?

My crashes are much snappier.

On a serious note, everything seems stable so far. Google widget seems a bit useless IMO. I guess its just me though.

What do those of us who installed it before it was pulled do? I mean, was it stable after all? Or should this be 7.04.1?

10.4.4 does NOT fix Fan Issue!

After the 10.4.3 upgrade the fans in my 1.6GHz G5 went CRAZY. After that upgrade the box OVERHEATS and crashes! To make it work I have an external fan the sits in front of the machine.

I thought 10.4.4 would have corrected the issue as 10.3.9 did after the 10.3.8 update caused the same fan problems, but I of course was wrong!

I must admit, I have never been this UNHAPPY as a MAC user as I am now! I really mean that. It just seems that there is one thing after the other!

Too much good stuff happening. The updates work fine, I have just one question though, how do you get rid of the iTunes windows when you are looking at regular iTunes stuff.

I don't need the music store there all the time.
One of the pull down menus has a hide ministore function. Freaked me out when I first saw that ministore thing at the bottom of my Itunes.

Ugh. 10.4.4 does NOT fix support for third party bluetooth receivers.
OSX still claims my iogear dongle does not support headsets, when it certainly does under Windows. Why don't I just bite the bullet and buy the D-Link? Because this dongle is classed for 330 feet, not 33.

Weirdness

OK, so I install the Quicktime update (pre pull and repost) on my Lombard (with 433mhz G4 Daystar and XPostFacto), install 10.4.4 and everything's fine. Cool, I think. So, I put it on my MDD 1.25 Dualie and I'm borked. I'm installing from the DVD now and will try to step myself back up. If I can get that far. Odd to say the least. At any rate, the Lombard seems a little peppier. This always seems to happen after an update and a permissions repair.
Off topic, when will Apple make another Black Power--ur--- MacBook Pro? The silver thing's cool, but always bet on black!

All's good in San Diego...

The update took me about 5 minutes on my 15"/1.25 PB, but I did not do the Quicktime Update. My Bluetooth is currently disabled, but I'm sure another restart will set that straight. I've never had any fan issues on this computer or my 17" iSight iMac, so I don't expect any now. I'm off to go home and update the iMac...let you know how it goes.

Thanks for all the posts.

So far, so good.

No problem so far on my 12" G4 PB (1.33Ghz).

I had thought it killed Dashboard, but I had forgotten that I used the Dashboard Switch application to turn Dasboard off.

Downloading the update now.

I'm surprised they didn't include a new Calculator widget...
 :D
