Apple Releases Mac OS X 10.4.9

for me, fans are much more sensitive to temperature change and cpu loads...even though the smc wasnt updated...hmmm

Ran the update and the only thing that broke for me so far is my copy of Alarm Clock Pro does not run anymore. I let Koingo know so we will see. I can live with it.

Wow, mine came down at over 1.0 MB/s...I was really impressed with Apple's servers. It downloaded 99 MB in about a minute and a half.

I have a macbook pro core duo and the max volume stayed the same. And boot time is much longer. Other than that, I see no improvement except for the cool "hold down the eject button" to eject...

I've updated to 10.4.9 on my MacBook Pro and been running it for a couple hours with no problems. And my shapeshifter skin still works :). It downloaded really fast too. (I'm only on 1.5 mbps down, so fast for me may be slow for someone else)

the problem with screens being dimmed down after awhile still hasn't been solved

You mean this problem? Or something else?

that doesnt work on the intel macs. it's a problem with them. You can turn it off then on then off again to fix it, but once you reboot it's needed to be done again.

Anyone else notice how if there is no disk in their macbook drive it doesnt try to eject it anyways? i allways hit the damn key at night nice little feature.:D

I understand. When installing 10.4 on an old Pismo, along with the battery info not coming up properly, it didn't seem to remember any energy settings. It's since been fixed at like 10.4.7 or 4.8 but it was really frustrating. That something so basic as energy settings doesn't function properly on a brand new Apple, frankly it makes me much less eager to upgrade from my aging PowerBook.

Speak for yourself. I have a MacBook CD and do not have this problem at all...

30th was last year, wasn't it?

with all this talk of leopard being released (/announced) soon should we expect to see anything when apple celebrates its 30th birthday on the 1st of april?

unfortunately thats a sunday but maybe on tuesday 3rd?

what du think?

Wasn't the 30th birthday last year? Steve at MacWorld 2006 was saying they might have some big things to celebrate their 30th. That didn't QUITE happen, but they did move to all Intel DURING the year. And I had been hoping for a 30th Anniversary 30" iMac. :) Oh well.

What The Update Did To Photo Booth...

I am not sure how to fix this. Does anyone know what to do?

I thought my Macbook Pro speakers got louder too! It's the only change I can see (or hear).

Used to be difficult to hear something on campus with these speakers but now it's markedly louder.

Maybe they just raised the maximum volume?
Or we're just crazy?

i think its a mix of both:D

Nice to see support for other USB webcams in iChat-hopefully this will reduce the reliance on software such as iChatUSBCam. Or perhaps not, could be only for the built-in iSight.

I'll be downloading 10.4.9 on my Mini tomorrow.

I already had a random shutdown happen about an hour after I installed the update and restarted.

Hopefully it was a one-time glitch...
