I think once again were all getting a little excited...leopard is on its way but too me this update was realeased now in prep. of :apple:tv because of the iphoto, airport and other graphic updates which would also help explain :apple:tvs delay and the sudden charge to the credit cards i don know it makes more sence to me....i doubt lepord is coming out this month im guessing june but hopefully im wrong  :apple:

My theory is that they have been building in upgrade paths in Tiger in prep for Leopard, so they were building in a more streamlined upgrade path to Leopard for both PPC and Intel recipients?

ctrl + click (right click) on the icon.
open info
mark the icon on top
press delete
the original icon should appear

I should have probably mentioned that I had already tried that earlier. I restarted again (second restart since applying 10.4.9) and the icons are back to their normal selves. Odd nonetheless.

regarding eject button

for anyone haveing eject button problems after the 10.4.9 update I have noticed that it has to be held down for a second to eject/close the disc drive (maybe added so that you cant accidently bump the eject key by mistake)

I don't know if this was mentioned (sorry, I'm not reading this entire thread), but the sound on my MacBook suddenly seems a lot louder. I used to have to keep it at about 1/3 to hear anything (like my IM sounds); now I can hear it with just 2 or 3 bars.

I really hope these updated drivers represent a driver for new hardware going into the new mac pros, unless they come with leopard installed and that comes with new drivers as well....Still hoping the new mac pros will be able to use SLI or Crossfire *sniff* oh steve please answer my prayers:p

Hi Guys. I updated earlier this evening and now am having problems. First, the whole OS seems very shaky. It basically crippled CS3, it crashes upon launch. (Or I get in and it crashes when I try to save) I wish I wouldn't have updated, and am now wondering if there is a way to flash back to 10.4.8. Beware to those using CS3.

well i updated and restarted and was just surfing the net and my entire system locked up. had to force shut-down. first time ever. great update.

It looks like this update fixed my file swapping issues. My system is doing a better job at manageing memory, espcially when I am running iTune which would usually hog all of my memory and cause my system to slow to a crawl.

Just installed 10.4.9 on my MacBook Pro and iBook G4, and both upgraded flawlessly.

After virtually 170mb worth of updates, all I have to say is I really dig the "push and hold" effect on the eject button. I'm the guy that always accidentally hits the eject button when I don't mean to. Should be a big life saver.

I just noticed this on my (original core duo) MacBook too. Youtube videos used to be a lot more quiet. I suppose this is a good thing though, my MacBook speakers have been notoriously weak in the past.

I noticed the same thing, but I thought it was my 2-yr old who could have messed up the drive.:D

All of the installs went sucessfully. No problems. So far.

I have ShapeShifter installed, and the update went smoothly. All of the themes now say they're not compatible with 10.4.9, but they work fine. System boots faster, but I haven't seen any speed improvement with iPhoto. Battery is showing 100% while on AC power whereas it was showing 96% yesterday (I failed to notice if it showed 100% just before the update). My Macbook has been on AC power for several weeks now.

yeah it's definitely louder on my MBP.

I remember playing this tutorial I had for a few people. The guy's voice was pretty quiet, and even though we were only 5 ft. away everybody kept asking me to turn up the volume, even though it was at 100%. seems to me that this is the most significant update of 10.4.9 so far :)

Boot from your install DVD and use Disk Utility (it's it's in the menu bar under "Utilities" after you choose a language) and "Repair Disk". Then repair disk permissions for good measure.

Cheers! Did that and it's all fine now. Repaired the disk too, apparently it needed it!

I restart and a window saying that Aqua has been restored appear, I guess SS isn't working now. Damn! (And I don't have the guts to re-install any themes now)

I've never seen this many guinea pigs since my pet female Lola had herself a litter when I was 11  The phones at AppleCare must be ringing off the hooks!

Hm -- I s'ppose I'll hold off for a couple weeks, until the first slew of updates fixing variuos 10.4.9 bugs shows up. I'm just fine with what I got :D

Smooth installation. Did notice the increase in sound and I like having to hold down "eject" for a second or two now before it works. Haven't used my MBP much this evening, but it looks good so far.

iTunes is using about half the memory it was before. dashboard is quicker to open. The system is running much better. This is the best it's ran since the first day i got my macbook. Im going to try out cs3 though havent yet.
