Since the update....

I must have iTunes open before launching frontrow with the remote, otherwise when i click music I just get a loading symbol forever next to the music and eventually have to cmmd+opt+esc to exit frontrow. If I open itunes before starting frontrow I have no problems accessing music.

I think this is a since the update kind of thing. I have only had the computer for a few days and haven't used front row very much so the problem may have persisted before the update. But either way this is still a problem!!

BTW - MBP C2D 2.33 2 GIG RAM

I have a computer just like that, also brand new. (Actually, probably the same model you have). iTunes starts automatically for me when I launch Front Row.

What could be different? (It did take about 10-20 seconds for it to show my list of music, but it didn't crash or anything.)

Yea, when i click artists it shows the loading circle indefinently. I let it go for 10 minutes hoping it would just load my artists once and next time it would be quicker. This is great on a brand new mac. Worthles remote.

According the the accompanying documentation, that is a new feature of 10.4.9. Apparently, many users had complained of unintentional ejections on Apple's notebook models. However, a number of users on this forum do not seem to like this new feature.

BTW, the update installed on my MB with no problems.

Well the people that don't like it are outweighed by people that have ever accidentally ejected a disc. Considering that the eject button is right next to the backspace/delete button I think this is a thoughtful addition to the update. So far so good, and boot up time is still not affected by the update

How do 85 people vote an update as Negative? Maybe I just don't understand the pos/neg thing, but it seems like there could be a headline: "Apple cures cancer" and 100 people would say it's negative.

True but I think that a lot of people could have voted negative because of the issues they might have been experiencing or have been mentioned by other people.

Nasty Bug

After update my external second display flickers slightly and has a black bar approximately 5 pixels wide the length of the screen, and it's 1 pixel from the top, it's really odd and I can't figure out how to fix it and really don't want it burned in to the display

dead

So, I did this update and the itunes update, now I am dead in the water!

Blue screen at startup, just sits there. Doesn't make it past. I got through both downloads fine, and it said RESTART, so I did a restart. Nothing.

Hard stop, holding down the power button, nothing. RESTART, nothing.

What is the work around for something like this? Is there a roll back?

intelimac, 20", core duo, 2GB RAM

Pop in the install disc and do a permissions repair. You might have to do that twice. See if that helps.

printing on 10.4.9?

Has anyone tried printing on this update? Printing broke initially for me - the update says something about rosetta printing but I am just doing IP postscript printing. I had to reinstall all of my printers (including Adobe PDF 8.0 and networked printers), and now all seems dandy again. Seems like it is faster to do postscript printing now too...but that may just be a lack of coffee this morning.

Not on a PBG4 867.

Rocketman

If there was somewhere where regular consumers could post their "known issues" where Steve Jobs and crew already read, like Macrumors.com, maybe some of the little stuff consumers, but not developers catch, would be fixed.

My speakers before 10.4.9 were always really quiet, after the update i can get higher volumes.

Same on my MBP 15" 2.0...I usually have my volume at 4-5 "ticks" but I think that's equivalent to just one tick in 10.4.9!

Tried it on a PB 12" 1.5 as well: definitely louder but not as dramatic, I think.

The iTunes artwork fullscreen feature is pretty cool, but kind of redundant with Front Row around.

Front Row doesn't show album artwork for me.

Also, did anyone notice that in one of these newer iTunes (I think, but I am not sure, this newest iTunes) the visualizer looks a bit better? Though they seemed to have kept the visualization itself somewhat low-resolution, they made the text, album artwork, and Apple logo appear much better than before.

But I haven't noticed any change in iTunes with this latest update. In fact, I haven't noticed any changes at all. Nothing is snappier, in my opinion. Not even Safari. Sorry.

(To make matters worse about the "Safari is Snappier", I usually use Webkit, the development version of Safari (updated nightly), and while it is much faster than normal Safari, well, it still just ain't snappier.)
