Ugh Im at Uni, when I get home I will have to download it on a 64kbps connection. How fun.

I just installed the update on my Rev A 20" Intel iMac and my brother's Rev A Black MacBook. Both installed fine but, upon startup on the iMac I was greeted by the Setup Assistant which wanted my Dot Mac information, after that it registered me with Apple and said Thank You - as if I re-installed Mac OS X...odd.

Well I guess it doesn't hurt to register twice :p ...or does it!?

If your still having a problem maybe try following on Apple's web page here. :)

Zapped all the ram there is to zapp, nothing chances, no the apple manual suggets that i re install, hell no , not until i tried 10 other things, i don't wanna spend alot of time reinstalling all my apps again , damn.

That was kind of anti-climatic. I have been looking forward to this update for a few weeks now, and now that it's installed I feel a little let down lol :(

Eject key does not work on G5 and G4

I just updated my OS X to 10.4.9 on both G5, G4 and eMac and on all three, the key board disk eject key does not work.

In addition, the keyboard short cut for computer shutdown does not work.

Does anyone have the same problem? Anyone have a solution?

Thanks

Much louder sound

Wow!

My iMac is literally twice as loud now. I always had to have it at near max levels to hear my iTunes songs properly. Now, I can scale it down to 50%.

Anyone else seeing this?

For some reason when I logged back in after the update, the Setup Assistant with its swoopy Welcome! movie decided to run, and I had the speakers up kind of loud. Ooo-WOOOOoooo-oooOOO! Scared the living **** out of me, it did.

That's odd. I got the Setup Assistant but, no video. Hmm...I wonder why it does that. Did it make you log into your Dot Mac? (If you have an account)

Try the eject button in iTunes.

Those critical bugs may actually have been fixed in Apple's internal builds. In fact, I believe they were on the "known issues" list, meaning they would probably also be somewhat easy for Apple to fix anyway.

The purpose of seeds is to let developers make sure their apps don't have bugs that conflict with upcoming software. Unless we get builds that fix bugs we find writing code, we can't do what the seeds are supposed to let us do.

And just because you know a bug exists, doesn't mean you have fixed it, looked at it, or in any way know what the underlying cause is. You are just aware of it from testing or bug reports.

So that argument might not be valid. (Apple would perhaps not fix the bugs in the developer's version because they do not wish to mix their internal and external branches too much to help prevent leaking of new features.)

If this is true, then devs /need/ to get a build with these features, to make sure the code changes to the underlying OS don't break /our/ apps in some way. (And BTW, it is pretty standard procedure to 'integrate' single changes from one branch to another in actual development)

The purpose of the seeds aren't really to toy around with, but to let us get a head start on testing and fixing compatibility bugs so that when 10.5 hits shelves, you aren't staring at a mile-long list of software that doesn't work yet. If what you say is true, then Apple is sabotaging their own development platform. Apple doesn't need that type of setback, especially with the push for switchers.

Is not restarting after the 10.4.9 plus iphoto update, i just get a folder sign with a question mark thats all , i hope somebody can tell me what to do to fix this, i don't wanna be reinstalling al my apps from scratsch again.
Damn.

That's not a worry at all, just hold down 'Menu' on your remote control on start up. Choose Machintosh HD, then when you log in choose System Prefs > Startup Disk > Click on the Machintosh HD folder. This problem shouldn't happen again now.
