That's odd. I got the Setup Assistant but, no video. Hmm...I wonder why it does that. Did it make you log into your Dot Mac? (If you have an account)
It did prompt for the Apple ID just like it would on a brand new install, but I quit out of it and everything was all puppies and rainbows after that.

Before restarting Photo Booth is glitchy and slow. If you move quickly it shows some visual artifacts.

When I finish some stuff, I will restart and report back. Meanwhile you should check how is your Photo Booth doing before and after restarting so I don't have to worry too much.

Eject button from the iTunes works but not from the Apple Keyboard!
That's progress, others should work now after a restart. I'm assuming you had a disc in there when you couldn't open it the first time.

*** One thing I did notice is you have to actually HOLD the eject button for it work now.

I just updated my OS X to 10.4.9 on both G5, G4 and eMac and on all three, the key board disk eject key does not work.

In addition, the keyboard short cut for computer shutdown does not work.

Does anyone have the same problem? Anyone have a solution?

Thanks
All the same problems on Dual 1.8 G5.

Holy s***! The volume on my C2D MBP is waaay louder.
Before the update I have my volume set at dot (or w/e they're called) 7 of 16. Now I have it at dot 2.

Ain't it great? I can actually hear iTunes w/o pumping the volume to max.

C2D iMac here.

I keep getting update_ Prebindings every time I boot into the os. There's 2 of them, one intel, the other power pc and its slowing down my startup quite a lot! Any ideas how to get rid of this?

Well its certainly been a journey, i remember when i first installed 10.4 on my 12" PB after the 10.3.9 update and now we're at 10.4.9....

10.2.8 was released on October 3, 2004, followed by the release of 10.3 on October 24 (21 days later).

10.3.9 was released April 15, 2005 followed by the release of 10.4 14 days later, on April 29.

Leopard must be close.

10.3 was declared gold master on october 2nd nearly a full month before its release.

10.4 was declared gold master on march 31st, again nearly a full month prior to release.

have you heard even a rumor that leopard has moved to release/final candidate status? no. even when RC1 is released there will still be weeks of testing before declaring a gold master. if the GM to retail pattern holds there's another month before is shows up on store shelves.

if apple were to release RC1 today you wouldn't see leopard until the very end of april and more likely first week of may. i would say for each friday that passes, starting this week expect leopard to appear in one week later in may, then june.

Crap. I may not be able to wait a day. This out of all my other bitching has been the single biggest annoyance on my MBP. If I want to demo a song for someone in a moderately loud room I ALWAYS need to go to VLC because iTunes is quiet as crap. :( Still I would give the first digit of a pinky finger for a real set of speakers in my MBP. A sub wouldn't hurt either but that is a tad overkill. :p

I don't see the point of waiting to do this update. If you're going to get it anyway, you might as well get it now. So far I haven't had any issues with any of the updates I've downloaded since 10.4.6, so I'm just going to go on good faith and hope that all goes well with this last one.

Well Tiger, you've been good to me, but Leopard is going to replace you soon :D

No matter what i push i can't get past the folder with the Q mark, id i start up with alt pushed it does see my drive so i hope i can repair with the disk utility, this is the first time i have ever had an update mess up my system ever.boehoeee, i'm so not amused.

Restart while pressing the option key until you see a screen that should have your hard drive on it. Click the arrow to continue. If you don't get any hard drive, startup using the CD/DVD that came w/ your computer and run disk utitlity.

The ? mark means it can't find a usable hard drive w/ a valid OS on it.

with all this talk of leopard being released (/announced) soon should we expect to see anything when apple celebrates its 30th birthday on the 1st of april?

unfortunately thats a sunday but maybe on tuesday 3rd?

what du think?

Same thing here. Same artefacts, not restarted yet.

Before a restart or after?
thanks!

Not at all, it's a waste of time. It's voodoo, and it's stupid. Put people that tell you to repair permissions before and after updates on your list of folk you don't trust to give you Mac advice.
