Update went very smooth for me on a Macbook Pro Core Duo. Tried my Logitech 4000 webcam, but doesn't seem to pick it up. Haven't noticed any other changes yet.

for some reason my update failed-after i got the installer out of the trash i couldnt click on it so i rebooted and now i cant get past the loading screen-any ideas??

Interesting little paragraph at the start of the Macupdate page...

Pre-order Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard" from Amazon.com. It's shipping at the end of this month (March). Amazon usually ships it to arrive faster than if you buy from the Apple Store. Get it faster!

Not at all, it's a waste of time. It's voodoo, and it's stupid. Put people that tell you to repair permissions before and after updates on your list of folk you don't trust to give you Mac advice.

Thanks.

But before giving people YOUR advice you may read a little more...there's specialized opinion on both sides, either for or against repair permissions...so I prefer to play it safe...in the worst case it's harmless.

2 things:

1. The editor likely knows nothing.

2. Amazon won't be shipping faster.

That's progress, others should work now after a restart. I'm assuming you had a disc in there when you couldn't open it the first time.

*** One thing I did notice is you have to actually HOLD the eject button for it work now.

Thanks reckless for that info.

Apple modified the Key Board Eject and Key Board Shutdown button delays!!! All you have to hold it down a tad longer than you used to. that's all.

YES! no more accidental eject while using backspace, the buzz is irritating when I work in class...shutdown button is instant for me...

Killed Airport!

Argh, this update has killed my Airport on my Core 2 Duo Macbook.

The antenna icon just flashes on and off now, I can't connect to any networks anymore.

Any thoughts?

Modified delayed timing on Keyboard shortcuts

All the same problems on Dual 1.8 G5.

LINKS, all seems to work if you hold down the keys a tad longer than you used to previously. Hope this helps. Sorry for the alert. :)

Bloody hell.

Did the combo update on my G4 Powerbook.

My airport, clock and volume have disappeared from the menu bar! How do I get them back?!

My changed folder icon has now been changed back to default (blue).

UPDATE: It's OK now, managed to get my icons back. Got to re-do the folder icon though

Thanks.

I've just had to use the Installer DVD to repair permissions. Twice. Something in the 10.4.9 dramatically screwed up my install. Lots of broken symbolic links in system critical paths. MBP was not even getting past the grey screen with the Apple logo.

Same thing here. Same artefacts, not restarted yet.

Could not resist, restarted - everything is fine with Photo Booth, but it was amazingly slow when starting up after the first restart, so I did another one which seemed to be as quick as before.. is this normal?

YAY! The number of times I've accidentally ejected a disc after missing the delete key is in the hundreds.

So far this is a sweet update.

The retail price of every version of OS X so far has been $129. Apple has never sold an upgrade license of any version of OS X.

All retail packs are upgrade licenses: you can only legally install Mac OSX on an Apple branded computer and they all shipped with a version of Mac OS on them already so the retail packs are to upgrade these...

Before restarting Photo Booth is glitchy and slow. If you move quickly it shows some visual artifacts.

When I finish some stuff, I will restart and report back. Meanwhile you should check how is your Photo Booth doing before and after restarting so I don't have to worry too much.

Danger Will Robinson Danger!

There's a giant flesh eating monster wearing a ring or its some sort of weird squidy with 5 chubby digits! ¬_¬

Anyone know where can I find a list of new supported devices from iSync?

I want to buy a D900 from Samsung, but it is (at least in 10.4.8) not supported in iSync.

Thanks,

What about the massive discounts if you bought a Mac one month before Tiger cam out?
