Powerbook G4, Rev B, 1.5 ghz 1.25 gig o Ram, beyond a longer than normal load up from the Apple Icon Screen to the Desktop, everything aok here.
I just checked my Rev A G5 iMac and too seems louder. But the change isn't as dramatic as the MBPs'.It seems to be C2D only, can anyone confirm/disprove this?
Not at all, it's a waste of time. It's voodoo, and it's stupid. Put people that tell you to repair permissions before and after updates on your list of folk you don't trust to give you Mac advice.
Interesting little paragraph at the start of the Macupdate page...
Pre-order Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard" from Amazon.com. It's shipping at the end of this month (March). Amazon usually ships it to arrive faster than if you buy from the Apple Store. Get it faster!
That's progress, others should work now after a restart. I'm assuming you had a disc in there when you couldn't open it the first time.
*** One thing I did notice is you have to actually HOLD the eject button for it work now.
Thanks reckless for that info.
Apple modified the Key Board Eject and Key Board Shutdown button delays!!! All you have to hold it down a tad longer than you used to. that's all.
All the same problems on Dual 1.8 G5.![]()
Thanks.
But before giving people YOUR advice you may read a little more...there's specialized opinion on both sides, either for or against repair permissions...so I prefer to play it safe...in the worst case it's harmless.
Sorry if a little off-topic, but how much did the Tiger update cost on release?
Thanks for the update, and yes it works in that way.LINKS, all seems to work if you hold down the keys a tad longer than you used to previously. Hope this helps. Sorry for the alert.![]()
Same thing here. Same artefacts, not restarted yet.
My airport, clock and volume have disappeared from the menu bar! How do I get them back?!
YAY! The number of times I've accidentally ejected a disc after missing the delete key is in the hundreds. Thanks reckless for that info.

Well catching up the conversations here, I didn't see any replies to questions that ask...
Does this mean now that you can use cheaper USB cameras?
The retail price of every version of OS X so far has been $129. Apple has never sold an upgrade license of any version of OS X.

Before restarting Photo Booth is glitchy and slow. If you move quickly it shows some visual artifacts.
When I finish some stuff, I will restart and report back. Meanwhile you should check how is your Photo Booth doing before and after restarting so I don't have to worry too much.
