For the first time an update killed one of my machines. The iMac just displayed the blue screen and didn't come back even after an hour. However, a quick smartcopy using SuperDuper and it's back on 10.5.3 and working fine :) I'll try again with the combo updater later.

No issues on my MBP though. That one went through first time.

forget it. Same crap as before. They give a ****.

Umm, I know this doesn't help but no Airport issues here. Used to see the occasional glitch under 10.5.1 but nothing since .2 came out. And that's on home and work networks, with the home wireless link being up and running for 72 hours straight before now owing to a massive download weekend (and that's with another 4 devices, 1 Windows desktop, 1 windows laptop, 1 Macbook and 1 iPod touch) sharing the access point with my Macbook Pro.

Thanks, but it doesn´t help as you mentioned.
Its just the beta test for bloody snow leopard.

no mobile me in iChat yet, either.

date

Has someone tried forwarding the date beyond 11 July to see if this causes an automagical rename of .mac to MobileMe everywhere?

My main workstation is the only box here running Leopard, and that doesn't get OS updates a day after release so apologies for not just trying this myself and thank you guinea pigs ;-).

10.5.4 enabled MobileMe over-the-air iCal sync to iPhone!

Has anyone else been seeing intermittent over-the-air iCal sync with their iPhone and dotMac account?

I'm getting erratic syncing this morning, and then all of my calendars duplicated in iCal (ugh).

Almost Ditto. The 10.5 Core Duo iBook is all but a brick.

Hey Apple. OS "heritage" matters. A lot.

10.4.11 is not bad at all. Keep supporting that!

OS 9 still has more "working" features!!

Wait.... there's a Core Duo iBook?

The real reason for 10.5.4

To bring the Finder version in line with the OS version :p

Yeah!

yeah, but the finder's date remains 2007. yeah, great update! and the lack of criteria when writing those info e also terrible. on the bottom, on one side written in black and on the other in gray, the "tm" and the "and", the line height are also different. damn what a mess!! so much to talk about, in just 2 fu** pop-ups! damn apple!

Okay, this is really really frustrating me now....

iSync is totally screwed for me and a few others as I gather from this thread, so what do Apple expect us to do now? Wait for the next Mac OS X update for them to fix it?! Gotta admit, I'm a little disappointed...

Does anyone know if actually re-downloading the 10.5.3 update manually and reverting my system is a feasible idea/won't screw up my machine?

I'm curious if it fixes the Spontaneous Logout on Fast-User Switch problem that's been plaguing my Mac Pro since I went to 10.5.

Apple says it's aware of the problem, as of 10.5.3.

why wouldn't you update your mac?

Because some of us with Macbook Pros have had trouble with the 8600GT graphics update hot on the heels of the 10.5.2 update and incorporated into 10.5.3. I have tried a complete reinstall, combo updated to 10.5.3. Same problem reared its head, so definitely Apple's fault.

In my case, and many others, it causes my notebook to freeze in Front Row if any long song titles are playing, requiring a hard restart. I use Front Row a lot, so this is a show stopper for me.

Doubt that this tiddly update will fix anything, so I'll pass. Probably until Snow Leopard, as everything is working as fine as it will be under Leopard.

You're a registered developer, but you don't know the answer to a question like that? Are you a student developer?

Generally, more recent versions of a particular application will *not* be replaced by an earlier version. v3.1.2 will not overwrite your installed v4.0

i'm new to this. i didn't think it would replace it but i wanted to be sure.

Read the title again. This is for macs, not for iPod touch and iPhones.

edit: I read your response to the other posts. You really need to make it much clearer that you are sarcastic next time. Just a tip ;)

I find it entertaining* the number of people that missed the intended sarcasm.
I don't know how anyone with 1,350+ posts in these forums, could miss the blatant sarcasm. Then again, people are still missing the increasingly annoying "Safari is snappier" or "G5 Powerbooks next Tuesday" gags.

Anyway... updates to the OS?
Neat!

* enough to post.

ok. so it sounds to me like now is the time to backup my macbook and apply the 10.5.3 update and the 10.5.4. I was holding back as I really have no problems, well except for an occassional beachball in safari or with working with large files. But I never received a beachball that would not go away after the content finished loading... I don't have airport problems, or anything (I guess I am one of the few lucky ones). the only error I ever experienced was with buring a +R DL DVD data disk, i received an error that the system lost communication with the drive. I personally think it is the fact it is a memorex DVD. I had problems with memorex in the past, but that was the only DL available. All other DVD's/VCD's burn fine. and every other DL burns fine.

However, I am looking to get a .mac/mobile me account - so it sounds like I need these updated in order to do so. Mostly I just want the .mac for webhosting. I am not looking to spend $100 for a 5 year domain name and $26 a month for ad-free webhosting, esepcially since this website is going to be a scaled down version of the one I just shut down. What I see with iweb and .mac seems to be just good enough as long as my contect shows up on google.

Uh, dude... you're using an 1.33GHz iBook? I'm shocked even Tiger runs smoothly on that thing anymore! Newer systems require newer hardware to run properly, that's just the way it goes. I can say with 100% certainty that Leopard runs great on all 7 machines I or my office has purchased in the past 2 years.

I too am using a 1.33GHz iBook from 2005 and running 10.5.4. No complaints here. It runs great for me! After a clean install, it even runs better than Tiger did.
