Media Issues

I stream several hundred gigs of iTunes movies and TV shows to my Apple TV on the new airport extreme from my new upgraded 2009 Mac Mini. Everything was fine till I did the 10.5.7 update. It installed smoothly, and now I went to use my Apple TV and it didn't work. I had to exit iTunes, turn off wireless, and turn it back on, and reopen iTunes. I had to do this twice for the videos to actually play. And it has dropped a couple times since then. It will play an episode, and by the time I get to click on the next, it won't work. Odd...

Interesting

to read about all the problems the early-adopters are having. Thanks for agreeing to do this.

Downloaded 10.5.7 COMBO (443 MB) in about 14 minutes. I will install it if I read nothing about serious problems during the next week or so.

Thanks again.

Everything went flawlessly here too, on my 2.4 ghz unibody MacBook.
Took 2hrs to download over SU tho. Lucky me i didnt get that signature error.
Safari opens without a single bounce.
Let's see how long this joy lasts :D

Move menu bar icons

Most applications that install icons in the Mac OS X menu bar allow you to move or delete those icons by using a simple key and drag command.

Hold down the (Alt/Option) key and click and drag the icon you would like to move.

If you want to delete the icon, move it off the menu bar and let go of the mouse button.

The above was a text clipping from MacFixIt, and the following is, too.

Create text clippings

Create a text clipping by highlighting the text you would like to use. Click and drag the highlighted text to the desktop. The resulting file will automatically copy to the clipboard when double-clicked, making it ready to paste into documents.

What the hell?! My Time Machine has been preparing backup for more than an effin' HOUR already!!!

I made the switch to Safari from FF3 after the beta was released. And now it seems that the bugs are getting worse and worse.

-The URL loading bar sometimes doesn't finish even if the page is loaded

-Images only show up about 75% of the time

-And MY BIGGEST ANNOYANCE!!!
When I restart Safari it always puts in the "Add Bookmark" button and the "Add to Evernote" button(which I don't even have a freaking account for!!!) What makes things even dumber is that the Evernote button has worked it's way into the default toolbar set. But of course, that doesn't matter because even if it was in the default set, THEY SHOULDN'T AUTOMATICALLY MAKE THE DEFAUL SET DEFAULT IF I'VE CHANGED IT!

I'm pissed @ Apple right now...:mad::mad::mad:

switch back dude.

Worst Apple update ever.

Download the Combo update, because Software Update was taking ages, and well the Combo was what I came across (so stop bitching about the Combo update preventing you from any problems).

Installed, restarted, endless loop of circle appearing for a short period on the screen, disappearing. After forcing it to shut down after 15 minutes and powering up it had to reboot 3 times (2 times to the Apple logo, 1 time to the spacey purple background with the spinning wheel), and then it went properly.

Applied Safari update, everything smooth. How many people do test these updates before they appear? I seriously encourage Apple to test updates on all of their current machines before releasing an update.

Let's see this morning how my MBP will react on this beast.

Updated early 08 Macbook pro 2.5/512mb video 4gb ram - no issues. First startup after update was slow, but ok after that.

Mac mini early 09 w/ 4gb RAM also went great. Video playback seems to be MUCH improved, esp. in quicktime. No more HD stuttering it seems so far.

Combo update used on both machines. repaired permissions prior to update as always.

WTF. That's clearly the fault of Evernote. Why are you blaming Safari/Apple? Calm down, Sir.

Are you using Safari 4?

You do realize you're using BETA software, right?

Not only one that should know it is a BETA where you can send them the crashes to Apple.

The Bug Box in on the left side. It looks like an Ant.

If you already have. disregard this message and go back to it was what ever you where doing. (Watching YV, Playing video games, reading or, what ever you doing.

TBH, I think most of the people here having issues with the update is their own doing. Several people including myself have installed the update on both my MBA and iMac 24" with Safari 4 and the update is top notch, not a hitch, not a problem, not a snag.
I think the ones complaining need to own up to what haxies or dock changes or secret stuff they have done to their Macs and even the ones not even using Macs.

Any reports on whether this fixes Time Machine backup issues? I can't seem to get Time Machine to back up to my external drive, and I've read that it was an issue with 10.5.6.

Safari 4 is still rubbish. Msn typing issue is still there.

Couldn't that also be a problem related to bad MSN code? Why attribute this to Safari 4? Even if it worked in Safari 3 it could be that the new internet standards that 4 is compliant to are not working with bad MSN code?

I'm not an expert, but I also don't attribute this constant Flash crashing by default to the browser. Some of the providers should look into the adherence of their code to internet standards.

I had a problem installing and I use a computer purchased from apple.com. It's a unibody macbook pro. No hacks. Next guess?

The fact that he is attributing a problem with Microsoft Messenger to Apple is hilarious.
It's a bug in MM which has come to light due to the updated version of webkit.
It's likely that the fault lies with poor coding on MS's part, and its upto THEM to fix it.
Also, try Adium.

Really good experience!

Well, after all the talk I was really worried :( about updating my Macs but for me everything has gone really well. :)

My new Mac mini rolled through the update and came out the other side just the same as it went in... :)

My 1.8 G5 iMac is working better than it ever has (seriously - this thing feels like a different Mac! It's significantly faster and snappier all through the system)... :)

and last but definitely not least, my MBP 15 C2D went fine too - until I rebooted and I had one weird very small problem- The Setup Assistant initiated and the intro music played. I'm not sure why but it was kinda nice to see it again! I just quitted it and it went away... :)

I am quite a happy bunny! :):):):apple::apple::apple:

I would also like to chime in and let everybody know that my update went smoothly. It's always going to seem like there are a lot of people experiencing issues because the few people with problems are going to be far more vocal about it, and everybody else has nothing to post about ;)

Just updated my 2009 Mac Pro using Software Update. It took about 15 minutes. Up and running as usual, no problems encountered.

Could it be that some of the update trouble some people are having might be caused by system hacks like the one to enable DFU mode in 10.5.6, or those thingies that change the look of the dock and whatnot? Just a guess.

AMEN Brother!! This is the first time I have to say my Macs are MUCH snappier in performance. Launching apps really zips. Great update, if Leopard runs this well I can't wait for the trimmed down Snow Leopard!

Alum MacBook

2GHz aluminum MacBook. Downloaded quickly, restarted fine, seems to be working well.

Same here, no problems at all!

( Imac 24" early 2008, Macbook 13.1" late 2008 )

Just installed it on our iMac and it worked perfectly. Now to get my sister to update, she is so annoying and says Windows never had updates, and he Macbook is fine how it is. She is so damn annoying.

Haha typical.
Windows DOES have updates. Not installing updates is the reason why so many people have the conficker worm.
