No problem here

Installed on a 17" MBP Intel Core Duo

Download 8 minutes, install in less than that. No problems. Spotlight did not reindex the drive.

I have a lot of sympathy for those having problems. Hard to know why it happens. If worse comes to worse you may have wipe the drive and start fresh.

I recently did that. The system now runs really fast and a number of small problems disappeared. I had been just doing updates for three years and had been dragging over lots of folders and such from before that.

Probably the system had acquired some screwed up plist files and such. The problem is that it is too hard to find them. Wiping and reinstalling takes care of that. It also gave me a chance to leave behind lots of files I didn't really need to carry around all the time.

Damn update ruined my 70 days of uptime! :p

Seriously though, all is working great so far *knock on wood*. Seems I was one of the chosen, or not, "lucky" ones.

The success of this update to me will be if I can beat that 70 days or not ;)

Haha typical.
Windows DOES have updates. Not installing updates is the reason why so many people have the conficker worm.

True, but the problem is the more you 'update' your system, the slower it gets and the more and more it gradually entices you to buy a new system since you are fed up of it stalling. I can't help but wonder why there are so many viruses and anti-viruses (don't update? fine then u need an updated antivirus system that slows down your machine and gradually has to scan for more and more viruses and thus bogs down the system more and more).

Just to add a tick to the "no problems" column: Downloaded in 2.5 minutes, and about 8 minutes later was back up and running, continued working in After Effects CS3, all external drives mounted, scheduled backups ran fine.

I had the 286 MB flavor from Software Update.

Cheers

(BTW - only updated Mac Pro - haven't bothered yet with Quicksilver or PB - might leave Quicksilver as is.)

here is mine XD

Looks good and I couldn't wait ....

Let's try it now!

Downloaded and installed the combo update on my Mac pro. No problems at all.

Then I downloaded and installed the Safari update and after the restart no applications would launch and my Mac wouldn't restart/shut down. I had to manually unplug, then start it up again.

Now everything seems to be fine again. Wierd!

Seriously, WTF. Repaired disk permissions and still nothing.

Did you try to set display gamma to 2.2 and mute the speakers? Also make sure there are no icons on your OS X desktop that have orange color on them.

Seriously, this voodoo works as often as repairing disk permissions.

just to clarify... if you use the Combo updater, the 3.2.3 Safari update is included... no need to download it separately.

I made the switch to Safari from FF3 after the beta was released. And now it seems that the bugs are getting worse and worse.

-The URL loading bar sometimes doesn't finish even if the page is loaded

-Images only show up about 75% of the time

-And MY BIGGEST ANNOYANCE!!!
When I restart Safari it always puts in the "Add Bookmark" button and the "Add to Evernote" button(which I don't even have a freaking account for!!!) What makes things even dumber is that the Evernote button has worked it's way into the default toolbar set. But of course, that doesn't matter because even if it was in the default set, THEY SHOULDN'T AUTOMATICALLY MAKE THE DEFAUL SET DEFAULT IF I'VE CHANGED IT!

I'm pissed @ Apple right now...:mad::mad::mad:

It's a beta. You know what that means right?

syncing issues gone

Seems that 10.5.7 has finally resolved my syncing issues with the iPhone.
Fingers crossed that it stays this way... i was really p!ssed before!

There should be a noticeable difference in video quality and less CPU cycles.

Anybody notice this ?

While I didn't check CPU cycles, I did check out a few QT videos, and I did notice that many of the bigger ones (1920x1080) played smooth as silk, no judder... noticeable enough to me to make me want to watch a movie to really scrutinize.

Well, I installed the update.

It caused my Mail.app to completely reset (I got the 'Welcome to Mail" window), and so I had to re-add all of my email accounts and their settings to Mail. That was really annoying. WTF is that?

Really.

just to clarify... if you use the Combo updater, the 3.2.3 Safari update is included... no need to download it separately.

I think the Safari update those in this thread are referring to is appearing in Software Update after the 10.5.7 update is applied. This update is for Safari 4 Beta...not 3. At least for me it was.

Froze on Blue Screen

For about 10 minutes, my white MacBook froze on a blue screen after the 2nd boot of the install. It was difficult (and annoying that there was no indication of background work), but I was patient and finally the login screens appeared. While I waited, I tried the capslock key to see if the light would toggle - it didn't. On the other hand, the display went to sleep and woke up on trackpad movement.

So, if you experience similar - patience. It may take 10 minutes.

Everything fine here on my 15" MBP 6/2007. Fast download, hassle-free fully automatic install, Safari 4 Beta is improved (wordpress.com editing flawless now). All together twenty minutes. There were some reboots but I didn't count them. Tried Mail and some other apps ==> no problems at all.

No problems for me on my Uni MB 2.4 ghz.

Seems the unibodies are running just fine.

Installed on 15" and 17" MBP without any problems. Used the combo updater in safe mode. 2 reboots. after that the safari 4 beta update. also no problem. now time machine is still churning.

Installed on 17" UB and rev. A MBA, both SW Update. No problems.

Also (on both) updated Safari 4 Beta, both SW Update. No problems. One fix noticed: Safari finally will remember new window size and position.

Erm, why is my update only 286MB?

Everywhere I look (here, giz, AI) it says it 400+

Hmph, gonna wait a week anyway if people are being screwed over by it.
