CROSSS YOUR FINGGGGGERS!!!!!!

That is one HUGE hard drive icon you got there...

It changed my audio settings, which, quite unfortunately, meant that in my case it temporarily seemed like it broke the sound system - only because 10.6.2 decided to select 'Soundflower' as it its default output, which captures the system's audio to (e.g.) transmit it via AirTunes.
I should have invested my time more into these forums instead of trying to fix it myself...
(I was struck by the soundflower 'bug' as well, alert sounds still worked and airtunes and airfoil worked as well. I had suspected something with ambrosia but only mucked around with Audio Hijack and Airfoil.)

Oh and when I delete messages in mail, they come right back... wasn't that supposed to be fixed in this release?

Well, I am just gonna take the first post because the rest of the complaints is pretty much subjective BS.

Cons.
No video as desktop function - DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS.
Quicktime options gone. - You don't need them, but if you want you can install a separate pref pane.
That damn beach ball. - NONE here.
Safari crashing at way too often. - Safari crashed only once in 2 months.
Damn beach ball again - NONE here.
Safari taking longer to load pages. - WRONG.
Beach ball again - NONE here.
Trash and the securely delete function. What exactly was wrong with 'empty trash' then disk utility erase function? - BS.
IDVD, taking 30 to 40% longer to burn disk. (this one really takes the !!!!) - DON'T USE IT.
Opening applications takes longer. Boring!!!!! - WRONG.
Beach ball yet again - NONE here.
Systems hangs a lot more. There's that flaming beach ball again - NONE here.

Net result? ZERO problems.

Been just fine on my end too. Enjoy the smooth ride!

I laugh every time I log into macrumors and read this 10 year old's responses. Please, this kid comes on the site and talks crazy and gets everybody all worked up. Just ignore him and maybe he will go away forever. They should have an age restriction on this forum.

Thank you, Apple! The Expose window issue has been fixed! Hopefully the "disappearing" Finder menu bar has also been fixed. Speed and stability has also increased a lot. They still have work to do though.

Hmm strange, my 17 inch early 2009 Macbook Pro (with 10.6.1) detected a 175mb download. I'm sure I remember someone else in this thread with the same model getting the 500mb update instead....

I don't see Windows users get happy about when an update comes along and I'm not talking about service packs here.

I don't see Windows users get happy about anything Windows-related.

It's a product one must tolerate but will never love.

This update crashed my sound. I'm not getting anything from any app after playing with all the sound options.

Does Apple test these updates at all or am I just unlucky?? I have a brand new Macbook Pro 15" that came with Snow Leopard installed. Just did this update and this is what I've found:

- After installing, Safari crashes constantly (crashed 4 times before I could post this)
- Mail attachment / delete issue still exists (can't delete a file after you've attached it to a email until you quit mail)
- Bluetooth is disconnecting constantly (keyboard, brand new batteries, loses connection and repeats what ever character you last typed)
- My desktop background was set back to default background
- iChat hangs when you start a new chat (spinning beach ball of death for about 2 minutes before you can type and send a message)

Time to go back to 10.6.1. This is ridiculous... other than the mail problem, everything worked fine before I updated.

You're not worthy enough to appreciate the Mac platform

There must be wisdom behind these bugs. Apple's software are never buggy!

They used to include RAW image updates with the OS. I guess they don't anymore. Does anyone know if they typically release a raw update coincident with an OS update? Or are they completely separate now?

I've been waiting for D300s support for over two months now :(
I think the lack of raw support updates is good indicator that major update to Aperture is in the works. Usually raw updates came every two to three months, now it is already five months since the last one. Something similar happened before the last major Aperture update (2.0), it had a different raw support mechanism than 1.x, again I think for about four to six months there were no raw updates anymore. Either because Apple had thought Aperture would be ready much earlier or because at some point they said, to he** with that old system, we don't invest any dime into anymore, let's only work on the new system (doesn't this sound familiar?).

Has anyone else's (white) apple remote completely stopped working? I was hoping 10.6.2 would fix the remote issues brought on by SL, not completely disable it.

So no one saw any odd font changes after the update?

I did (and do). My finder font is completely messed. I'm running 10.6.2 on an 8 core Mac Pro. I also repaired permissions and oddly it's still going after 5 minutes (tons of file permissions being reset). I validated my fonts and had to delete 45 of them. It still didn't fix the issue with Finder's font. Broken fonts also occurred on my family's iMac, causing iWeb to crash at loading (I researched the issue and found some users were experiencing similar application crashes, once I deleted broken fonts iWeb loaded without a hitch).

Any idea why Finder's font would be different?

This update crashed my sound. I'm not getting anything from any app after playing with all the sound options.
Did you go to System Preferences -> Sound -> Output and selected 'Internal Speakers'. That did it for me.

Ive been playing around with 10.6.2, and I must admit, the system is a lot faster.

Safari, and Mail in particular.
they both start up almost instantaneously, ive gotten quite used to waiting a few seconds for either to open.... its gonna take some getting used too. :)

Have fun backing up terabytes upon terabytes amount of hard drive space.

Have fun when your hard drives die then.

It doesn't matter how much data you have, it doesn't truely exist until you have more than one copy!
