Does Apple test these updates at all or am I just unlucky??

- After installing, Safari crashes constantly (crashed 4 times before I could post this)
- Mail attachment / delete issue still exists (can't delete a file after you've attached it to a email until you quit mail)
- Bluetooth is disconnecting constantly (keyboard, brand new batteries, loses connection and repeats what ever character you last typed)
- My desktop background was set back to default background
- iChat hangs when you start a new chat (spinning beach ball of death for about 2 minutes before you can type and send a message)

Time to go back to 10.6.1. This is ridiculous... other than the mail problem, everything worked fine before I updated.

Looks like a typical software mess. If 10.6.1 worked fine for you, then there's no reason why 10.6.2 wouldn't.
If I were you, I'd run the combo 10.6.2 now, and if that doesn't do the trick, just reinstall 10.6 and run the combo again (after backing up your home folder of course). Then copy your mail and other critical personal stuff back, but don't install any third party software before you know you're OK.

PS. Oh and you're using DiskWarrior, aren't you?

This is the company with the FASTEST response to customers' needs! CONGRATULATIONS, APPLE, FOR GIVING US THE BEST OS ON EARTH! BANZAI!

MS IS DEAD. DELL IS DEAD.

This world is so depressing! :(:(:( So many things are dying! :( *cry* *remembers that scene from Scary Movie 3 (the one that parodies the ring) where cindy's bf tells cody that everyone around him is dying*

Seriously, though. What is it with you saying that any company that isn't Apple is dead. I highly doubt having ~90% of the world market share qualifies as dead. And if it does, then Apple must dead too. Like REALLY dead.

*remembers the song we can pretend that were dead from playing gta sa*

No problems here . . .

Anyone else noticed slow wakeup from sleep in 10.6.2?

I just updated and now my iMac takes an extra 5-10 seconds to come back up from sleep state, as compared to 10.6.1.

Hmm, no problems for me - in fact, my wake from sleep is faster than before
(less than 2 seconds now).

I have the same iMac - just built in 2009.

Did you do a clean install with SL? (I didn't)

OMG!!!!!!!!! That's an eternity!! I hope Apple fixes this right away! Maybe you should send a bug report to them? In the meantime, there is no way I'm going to update now. I can't be waiting around for my computer to wake up. My time is too special.

The point is that it's new unpleasant behavior with this update. Or would you rather if people only dolloped cream and honey all over this release even if there are a few problems?

Nope, I upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6. It's not terrible, but it is noticeably longer.

It used to be that I'd click the mouse or keyboard and the screen came on almost instantaneously. Now it takes at least a few seconds with a black screen and mouse cursor before anything else happens.

Severe image tearing in Lightroom 2.5 on a Mac Pro running ATI 4870 not fixed. If anything, it seems to be worse.

I have an iMac with ATI 4850 running LR2 2.5 and it seems very fast and smooth to me.

1. it fixed remote desktop "black screen" problem
2. problem with sound:
in the sound preferences, make sure that output is set to "Internal Speakers"
3. it fixed my bonjour connectivity (desktop <-> MBP) problem as well

can't see any problem so far

I blame myself.

Well, this is what I get for putting things off. When I bought my Mac Pro in April 2008, I was pressed for time and just used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my Intel Mac Mini to it.

Then, when 10.6 came out, I upgraded, promising myself a clean install soon.

Now, it's time, as the 10.6.2 update went pretty wrong, and my Pro is not so happy now. Thankfully, I keep good backups and have all I need to reload it - except, of course, for the elusive time component.

Much like the cobbler's children needing shoes, the IT manager's machine is always the last to get attended to. At least now I have an excuse to make some time. :D

499mb on my new unibody MBP 15 2.66. I've learned to always do a TM backup prior to any major update. This one scared me a bit as upon reboot the screen turned blue for a few seconds.... reminded me of Windows!!

Unibody macbook here with 10.6.2. and my wifi keeps on disconnecting. I don't know if it is my router or the new update. I got the new router/modem (AT&T 2Wire) today also...

Anyone else have an issue with WIFI?

Did they fix OpenGL yet? You know how our OpenGL is performing about half as well with SL as it did with Leopard.

Are we talking synthetic benchmarks like XBench, or real world benchmarks? On what hardware?

I've seen similar perf out of OGL on the same hardware with 10.5 and 10.6, with 10.6 using a little less CPU to do it.

Spotlight Comment Woes

I've managed to dig up this thread over on the Apple Support discussions.

It looks like files older than about March 28, 2008 return kMDItemFinderComment = (null).

Newer files return their proper Spotlight comments. It's not a Tiger problem since it occurs well into my usage of 10.5.2 and the files were created or tagged only under Leopard.

I'll be using 10.5.8 for now.

I don't remember getting notifications that i forced quit something before. I don't need to be told, i know i did it!

You know you did, they dont know you did, we now know you did... now do you still want to file a report? You know you want to file a report... now do you???;)
