Apple Releases Mac OS X 10.6.2

Anyone else noticing that preview is very unstable or is it just me? Not sure if this is a new 10.6.2 change or if preview has always been like this because I only upgraded recently and I'm still testing things out.

I'd say within the past evening and this morning I've managed to get 3 crashes when trying to save pdfs after annotating them in preview. I have Papers installed (pdf organizer) which I was using at the time. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Anyone know of a fix?

EDIT:
Forgot to mention this is a completely fresh install that I've only just begun to start installing my apps on.

Did a quick test of a PDF with a quick annotation and saved. No problems at all for me.

Flash

It looks like the 10.6.2 update once again downgraded my version of flash player - not good... Anyone else?

I just updated this morning and got a terrible issue with iWeb: with certain blog themes (i.e. Gazette for example) the program crashed with a SFWordProcessing plugin error. The sad thing is that i made the page just a few minutes before upgrading, and right after i'm not able any more to work at the project.

And i must admit that things were not so bad with 10.6.1.... I regret updating.

Did a quick test of creating a blog using Gazette and no crashing.

When I tried to publish it said it couldn't connect to Mobile Me but I suspect that it is a temporary server thing instead of an iWeb thing but I might be wrong.

Did they fix OpenGL yet? You know how our OpenGL is performing about half as well with SL as it did with Leopard.

I don't think Xbench is a good way to compare openGL performance anymore. It hasn't been updated since 2006 and I don't think the results make much sense anymore. For example, it tells me my old 12" powerbook G4 has better openGL performance than a relatively new MacBook.... there's no way that is true.

I just completed the combo update on my MacPro. The about this mac only shows 2 of the 4 GB of installed memory. Anyone else have this issue after the update?

I have 8 and it's all there, I used Software Update to download it.

I did lose my startup bong as well. Anybody else?

Mac: Hey PC, did you hear the good news? Mac OS x 10.6.2 is out, and it's not going to have any of the problems 10.6.1 had. Trust me.

Mac: This time it's going to be different.

Mac: Trust me.

Yeah, but how many people were affected by those "bugs" verses the amount of problems Vista had. For me, 10.6.2 is exactly the same as 10.6.1 because I didn't have any problems before and now I still don't.

my update was only 152 MB. any one else who had a small package?
strange since the initial post says over 400 MB.

Come on now Spaz, they still haven't fixed the problem where you get a blue border for a window being zoomed out in Expose.

So inferior to Vista :)mad::mad::mad:), Apple you suck:)mad::mad::mad:), I hate SL:)mad::mad::mad:), wah wah wah! :D:D

The fact that someone as nitpicky as you is happy with it says volumes.

Microsoft wishes they had Apples "problems".

I don't think they'd want their OS to delete user account data. Considering how many people use Windows, that would be a very very very bad thing. Especially with the Sidekick data loss too ;]

That's nice for you but what about the rest of us trying to playback HD content and/or use MKV? Or dare I say it use non-Apple software on OS X. :p

Set fans to maximum and get ready to drop frames!
But captain we have a 8600M GT!?
Irrelevant!
I know this is really late in the thread but cheers for the humor ! :D

(When I first read that I read drop flames, but it still fit!!)

Who is this guy? Is this a joke account or something?

IMO Yes. Partially because I can't imagine someone being so out of touch with reality... I'd rather believe he's just trolling for fun.

Anyway, regarding the update:

Already installed 10.6.2 on my MacBook (early 2009) and it's running fine. No hassles so far. I will give it a go on my iMac (late 2006) tonight and hope it goes smoothly as well.

For those who upgraded from Leopard and are having issues on 10.6.1:

I had a lot of issues with Snow Leopard during the first weeks after the Leopard upgrade, especially Safari/Firefox/Finder/Mail constantly beachballing and overall a lot of system lagging.
However, as soon as I ran the new Onyx (SL compatible beta) automation tool to clear old caches (Leopard remains?) everything started working great.
I don't know if the two things are related but it definitely solved ALL the issues I was having and could be of use to some of you who are having the same issues.

Not happy so far...

Sound issues (playing through internal when external speakers are present), wi-fi (having to restart my router a few times), inaccurate and unresponsive trackpad and a kernel panic since upgrading.

And ironically, I've suffered no problems with Windows7 like I have with 10.6.1 - although I've only been using it for either internet (on my macbook) or gaming. Although I've been using 10.6.2 all day and it seems stable at the moment...

Prior to the update, Safari was my only real gripe. It would stall for ten seconds at a time, especially when opening a new tab and trying to go somewhere. That problem is now completely gone. I'm quite happy with SL after this update.

Then again, the real test will come when I get it running on my Hackie.

Uhh...What did they actually tweak for the Safari/plugins? Safari and it's plugin (flash) gives the same problems it never did in Leopard so guess I'm (we're?) stuck still.

This is what I was saying in response to somebody who insists that the flash plugin was improved. I see no difference. Fans still whine at 6500rpm and CPU temps soar.

But I'm not so sure about your Leopard comment. I thought this as well so I booted into a Leopard install and tried it. Still the same high fan speeds and CPU temps.

I don't have Safari 3 anymore though. I'd like to try it on Leopard 10.5.8.

10.6.2 has broken a lot of my screensavers. Time to check with the developers to see if they have updates.
