Is your name there because you have fast user switching turned on? If so you can have it not show your name...
It wasn't there before the update, but yeah, I just dragged it to the trash. Kind of funny.

This is a security feature, not a bug; and it's been there since forever. If you don't type your password after a few seconds, OS X will get back to sleep.
There was a fix for this recently posted on HawkWings. It requires updating a preference from the command line, which suggests this was an intentional change on Apple's part (so won't be fixed as a bug, but might be changed due to public outcry).
I have loads of lists that I need to import into spreadsheets. If I use Pages, then I do File->Export as Plain Text, if I use TextEdit, I just save the lists as TXT files, using either tabs or commas to separate say, Surname, Firstname.
I then open the TXT file in MSExcel and they appear in columns and rows as they're meant to. If I need to bring these into an existing spreadsheet, I copy & paste from within Excel rather than from the TXT file.
Got to love the Buddhist philosophy shown here - far too much venting at other people's comments goes on in here (and the internet in general)![]()
My sound prefs now reset to internal speaker with every restart.

Anyone else out there that know any news on the whole drag n drop problem. It's all over the place. I use it all the time, so it's really starting to become rather annoying. If any developing news, PLEASE let us know if you know anything.
True. The post you quoted was kind of refreshingly nice in a completely non-judgmental way. Always nice to see that. Although you've got to admit, this place is relatively mellow compared to the rest of 'the internet'.
Michelle Gill from the Grow Discussion group post this quick fix for growl mail.
I am testing it now.

I have Growl Mail (via Growl 1.2) working fine on 10.6.2. You have to
add the following two UUID's to the Info.plist file in
GrowlMail.mailbundle/Contents/Info.plist:
2F0CF6F9-35BA-4812-9CB2-155C0FDB9B0F
0CB5F2A0-A173-4809-86E3-9317261F1745
Make sure the bundle is in ~/Library/Mail/Bundles (and not "Bundles
(Disabled)") and quit mail and restart. Seems to be working for me.
Cheers,
Michelle G

But how many of them deserved to be flamed;[...]There is stupidity then there is stupidity expressed by people who think that they're cool or that they're still right even though there is a mountain of evidence to the contrary[...]
Take a look at the Airport Utility preferences. There's a setting for checking for updates, though I'm not sure why it would alert you every time (i.e. on hourly backups).
On a side note, I've tried 7.4.2 many times now, only to revert to 7.4.1 (and it'll stay there until 7.4.3 or later...). Otherwise, it seems to go "dumb" - where it functions properly as an access point, but forgets how to be a network drive.
