Apple 10.6.2 - Network File Systems said:
file synchronization for portable home directories

File sync would hang at times, glad this is fixed. Well, at least I hope it is. I will find out soon.

Are people actually considering skipping over this update, or wait for the next one altogether to upgrade to SL?? Really?

I'm back on Leopard. Going to wait and see how 10.6.2 goes in the next week or so. I'll only update once it is stable.

Netbooks be deaded

I can confirm that 10.6.2 won't work on a Dell Mini 10v. Just tried it and now reloading back to 10.6.1

Oh well...:(

Don't worry, 10.6.3 and 10.6.4 haven't been cancelled. 10.6.2 was just the first batch of worst bugs reported by customers (aka Secret Beta Test Team members. Motto: "So Secret, Even They Don't Know!")

Hopefully those will address these smaller things, at least we will always have something to look forward to :)

The Combo update is not downloading fast at all. It starts off at 7MB/s and then just free falls into the double digit KB/s.

Magic Mouse update...

Now, if they can release an update that gives support for a middle mouse click on the magic mouse, so I feel that wasn´t a complete waste of money, I would be very happy. Some times I don´t get apple, the mouse can support it, they are able to make it, and yet they will probably never do it...despite everyone crtiticizing them for it...it´s like the smilies on the iphone, people want it and the phone has it, but still you have to find a workaround to add it unless you live in Japan...Next: Middle mouse click on the Magic Mouse - only in Greenland.
Sorry for wandering off topic :D

All releases are stable, if they weren't they wouldn't have been released

Not true. It may work, but so far I wouldn't have called Snow Leopard really stable. FAR too many crashes, bugs and beachballs. So far, so good on 10.6.2. 10.5.2 was a major update for Leopard and I hope the same holds true for Snow Leopard.

I am going to wait before I install this update. It is better to wait, especially since everything is working. This update might 'break' something, although Apple is usually good with their updates. Just, right now, better to wait. I'll install this later on in the week.

Or maybe right now! Screw it!

mine was 499mb on a 13 inch macbook pro.

i have lost my sound since updating. it still plays the chime when i restart, but no more sounds in os x. no itunes, no sound in videos, nada. am i the only one experiencing this?

Fabian

Edit: fixed by selecting my built in speakers again in system preferences / sounds. odd issue tho...

Did anyone else have to re-set their system volume?

It changed my audio settings, which, quite unfortunately, meant that in my case it temporarily seemed like it broke the sound system - only because 10.6.2 decided to select 'Soundflower' as its default output, which captures the system's audio to (e.g.) transmit it via AirTunes.

Maybe you have the same problem?!

I was thinking of upgrading the OS on my Apple 2e from ProDOS to Snow Leopard. Think I should download this update?

(Of course, I have no modem for it, and my total ram is 64 kb, but that shouldn't be a problem, should it? Can anyone transfer this update onto 5 1/4" disks for me? Thanks.)

I would upgrade it to the 128KB before attempting the install. Oh, there might be a problem with the fact that it's not an Intel processor, or that it doesn't even have an internal hard drive. Snow Leopard on a monochrome monitor, woohoo!

You would be the envy of the entire Mac community if you could accomplish that. ... please update us on your progress in 20 years. :)

It's not your machine, it is whether you are updating from 10.6.0 or 10.6.1.

The Delta update (10.6.1 - 10.6.2) is smaller.

It has nothing to do with that. I'm currently running 10.6.1 on my Macbook and my update is 499.9MB.

The only sound issue I had was my system volume got reset. Nothing major.

Gma950

Well it barely works in 10.6.1. Super slow for things like spaces, seems like it has not been optimized. Hopefully that has changed in 10.6.2. Anyone seem some impovement?
It did seem like an odd rumor that they would remove support for machines only a couple years old.

 It's still there. And I find it highly unlikely that they would be dropping that. All current first-gen Macbook users' Snow Leopard installations would stop functioning ?!
