I've just tried on my iPhone to print to an Epson SX515W which is wirelessly joined to my network with 10.6.5 10H568 (an older build) and it doesn't work.

I haven't tried plugging it into my computer and going from there yet as I'm to tired to try but if people do, I will give it a go

The wireless printer must support airprint. If you are using your mac to connect to your printer to print normally, you have to share from your mac.

Just because your printer is on a wifi network doesn't automatically mean it's airprint compatible.

You have to share your printer over your wifi network from your mac if it's a non-airprint compatible printer.

517.3 MB for my good old MBP mid/2007 (it was the first one with LED backlit display), curious for how long they will support it. All together (download, install, reboot) about 15 min as usual. Everything seems to be okay after a 10 min test with 10.6.5.

I had high expectations for this update:

I was cinebenching 30.63 frames per second on my 5870 in 10.6.4

but now I am blazing along at 29.56 FPS in 10.6.5

-roll on 10.6.6

Dude S T F U. Why do a bunch of software updates when you have a bunch of Macs to update. How about downloading one combo update and installing as opposed wasting bandwidth. I don't know where you live son, but in Canada, we don't get unlimited bandwidth. Not cellular, and definitely not broadband.
No, you listen. Unless if the combo update is officially hosted on Apple's site as a UNIVERSAL version for all hardware, you should not use it PERIOD. If you have a bunch of macs to update then you should wait until it is available.

I live on the west coast of Canada and I have DSL. I have yet to receive a call about bandwidth usage but then again, I do not torrent.

I'm also aware of the limited bandwidth cellular provides per month which is why I would never use it. I understand that some people have no other option but cellular but in that case they should be willing to wait for the official combo update page to appear.

I am confused...
What is the advantage of waiting for the combo updater?
Why not just use the software update?
There is absolutely no benefit other than for those who have multiple macs to update but in that case, he/she should wait until the official universal combo is released rather than trying to use a hardware specific combo update that someone linked to.

What's happening is someone is sniffing the linking with network tools to get the link to the combo update for their mac and then posting it on this board not realizing that it is specific to their machine configuration and will not work on other models. Apple will release the larger combo update soon which will work on every machine configuration.

So after the update, I'm still on 10.6.4. That link that was provided earlier in the thread did nothing but waste my bandwidth.

I think you mean it wasted part of your download allowance, unless you were simultaneously downloading other massive files, and those simultaneous downloads were slowed because of your total bandwidth available.

Okay gotcha so they don't have to download it twice.

"Update could not be installed"

I've had two failed updates and I'm close to giving up until a combo update is posted. Any one else having trouble? I've never had an issue in the past...

Why not just use the software update?

The advantage is that you can download the DMG file and apply it offline to multiple Mac's without having to use Software Update on each Mac you have and sucking bandwidth, especially if you have a slow connection like me.

AirPrint FAQ:

1) Just because your printer is connected via wifi doesn't mean that AirPrint will print to it. Your printer MUST support AirPrint (and few do currently).

2) If you print to your printer via your Mac, you must enable print sharing under sharing in System Preferences. If you do not, you will not be able to get AirPrint to work. If you are printing via your Mac over Wifi, well, you don't have an AirPrint supported printer.

3) Your iPhone / iPad must have iOS 4.2 for AirPrint to work correctly

4) Your Mac must have Mac OS X 10.6.5 Build 10H574 or later.

5) If you are still confused, contact your wifi printer manufacturer and ask if your printer supports AirPrint or not.

6) The only way to print directly to a wifi printer from your iPhone or iPad is to have iOS 4.2 GM and your printer must SUPPORT AirPrint. If not, you must share via your Mac.

Didn't read the entire thread so apologies if already noted, but, this update fixed my graphics switching problems and broke gfxcardstatus. I have been unable to watch fullscreen videos in my browser ever since the release of 10.6.4 as the graphics card would not switch to nVidia upon switching to fullscreen and I would get extremely choppy video. That has been fixed.

However, the gfxcardstatus utility (which is brilliant by the way), has been broken. It no longer reports correct gfx status and even when I switch to "Intel Only" the switch to nVidia is still made whenever the OS wishes.

Combo Updates from a MacBook with 10.6.3

We have an old MacBook here with 10.6.3, so I fired up the Software Update app...

Stand by....

Ok, done! So the Software Update app marks the 10.6.5 Combined Update as a 1.03 GByte download.. (Sorry no pic)

That settles the 689 or so Combo link elsewhere given...

Guess Apple doesn't want to overload their servers even more by posting the Combo Update image right now.

Somebody know of a way to ask Software Update to download and KEEP the file like it used to .. ??

(Maybe even that will not help a lot... The SU APP downloads are not always contained in neat packages)

Glad the update is finally out, Safari definitely seems snappier to me as well. Only problem I've had so far, is my MBP refuses to wake up from sleep any longer. Anyone else have this issue? (I have a 15" i7)

Can anyone confirm if this fixed the problem with the displayport to HDMI not carrying audio since .3?

10.6.5 made my expose choppy once again. it becomes choppy the first few times i run expose, but after that it becomes smooth. 100% of the time this is happening.

Mine crashes every time I try to update.

Maybe because you are going from 10.6.3 to 10.6.5 (including 10.6.4) is why yours was so big.

Wrong. I have 10.6.5 Build 10H574 and iTunes 10.1b10 on my mac and iOS 4.2 GM and Airprint is working fine.

Being patient means waiting for the 4.2 release of iOS before considering it not working.

I have the iOS 4.2 GM installed as well and it's not working.

Urgent request...

Enter whois 62.41.85.9 before you initiate the download process of this so called OS X 10.6.5 Combo update. Great fun I'm sure.

Please remove the link a.s.a.p.

Thank you.

Ok so how do you do this AirPrint thing?

I have 10.6.5. I have 4.2 Beta3 on my iPad. I've enable Printer Sharing on my Mac. When I go to test it out, it says no printers found.

What am I missing here?

performed the update

And damn my Mac Pro (mid 2008) is much snappier. Especially iPhoto and Aperture. Haven't really noticed anything else besides the fact that I definitely feel a speed difference.

Install the Reversioner.pkg which was in the Developer seed and after that, hit Software update (without rebooting your machine!).

Wow.. you were totally right. I thought that package was only used for older builds of OS X. I deleted that file last month but thank goodness for Time Machine. I'm downloading the final release of 10.6.5 now, thanks!
