With retail copies you can give the "old" software away when you purchase the new version, but if you have to register the computer, like you do with iTunes, then this will prevent you from being able to donate old software.

Correct, this is not going to be possible with App Store software.

Your consolation is that the software in the store appears to be cheaper to begin with. (Though I don't know if that will be a continuing trend.)

Do any of the games have Game Centre Compatibility ?

if not, does anyone know if this feature is due ?

As far as I know Game Centre was made for iOS so that could send notifications and other comunications through one server only (Apple's) to your device instead of using multiple servers (dev's) to your device. Said that is not coming for Mac.

"We think users are going to love this innovative new way to discover and buy their favorite apps."

Grammer, Steve!

It should be "We think that users are going to love this innovative new way to discover and buy their favorite apps."

How funny that you're correcting Steve's grammAR when you spelled "grammAR" wrong. :p

So I finally got my mobile me / existing apple id to work. Here is what I am finding.

SERVERS ARE GETTING HAMMERED!!!! My downloads are slow and taking forever.

Here is what I don't like so far. I am a stickler for backing up my stuff. Looks like my time machine backups just became even more important and my only source. Unlike ipad/iphone apps that put an ipa in your "user/music/itunes/mobile applications" folder, which you can burn to CD/DVD manually or backup using itunes backup (I do that once ever couple of months). Looks like there is no way to backup the package that is downloaded for your apps from the mac app store. I cannot find the download anywhere. If someone does find them, send me an email (this thread is getting a way to long to search through). These apps are expensive and I would like to have more than just my time machine backup (hard drives do still fail).

You can re-download your purchases as many times as you want in the Mac App Store.

Yeah, a great deal. I don't have the words to describe how SCREWED I feel again. I've paid 300 bucks for Aperture and bought every update on the way.

Being an Apple customer is an idiot proof way to quickly lose a lot of money.

Wow. Apple cannot win with you. Yeah I paid $199 for Aperture, but price reduction sometimes comes with the territory.

I remember once paying over $600 for Microsoft Office. Now which I can get for only $125. Prices tend to go down.

On topic:

Looks like a nice selection. I was hoping that they release the iWorks '11 . I thought it would be release along with the store.

For some reason I cannot buy anything. I click sign in and nothing happens. It doesn't even register the click. Any help?

One thing is for sure, anyone that is an Apple Certified Pro for Aperture is going to have a hell of an opportunity to sell his/her training services! Lots of new potential customers! :)

Apple knows you own a Droid and they are automatically placing you last in the queue. :)

Log in, close the App Store, re-open and purchase. I did that, when I opened it and download the agreements and stuff should come out.

You should be more careful, sticking your head above the parapet like that.

In non-formal usage, Steve's version is just fine.

However "grammar" is always spelt with an "a"...

:D

maybe a stupid question but what download should i pick?

- Mac OS X v10.6.6 Update (143.59 MB)
or
- Mac OS X v10.6.6 Update Combo (1.06 GB)

what does "combo" mean

I was wondering too. I did the autoupdate and I think it gave me the 143.59 MB version.

If you're running 10.6.5, you can use the regular Update. If you're using anything prior, you have to use the Combo Update. It just means it contains all the previous updates as well (hence the much larger size). Even if you're using 10.6.5, you can use the Combo Update, but you don't have to.

Bejeweled 3 $19!! !!

When there are so many options and games to choose from, do you guys think high pricing like this are going to work for these guys? I see the $19 and click the back button and go searching for 4 or 5 other cheaper games I can pick up instead.

I want to get Bejeweled 3 but that price is keeping me from adding it to the cart. I would be downloading it now if it was $5.

I mentioned this earlier, check Steam, they sell it for the same price.

Why isn't the iTunes Store as smooth as the Mac App Store? I think it's about time they separate it from iTunes at least on the Mac anyway.

The Mac App Store application is nice. However, I do wish it would show your order history including app purchase price (unless I just missed it somewhere).

Apple never said Game Center wouldn't come to the Mac App Store. They said it wouldn't be available at launch. I bet Game Center is built into Lion.
