External Monitor via HDMI on a M1 Mac mini still does not recognise the native resolutions. Let's see if every other time waking the machine resorts to a unusable resolution as well. Hope they would have fixed this. Crossing fingers that they will find a way to support 21:9 Ultrawide as a native resolution at one point in the future. All Windows PCs I have every connected to it can handle the screen just fine. HomePod Stereo works fine though. Latency is noticeable here and there, but the out of sync from before seems to be gone.

Updated mine - M1 MBA
Download was 6.62GB.
It took 35 minutes to install not including the download!
It's also sent my Safari bookmarks back by about 10 years!
It also still reboots to full screen brightness whatever setting it was at before.

macOS 11.3 (20E232)
  • still randomly drops WIFI
  • still briefly shows black on an external monitor connected via USB-C Dock and HDMI
I was really hoping the long wait could be an indicator Apple would manage to tackle those basic issues both going back to normal fairly quickly after showing. Having WIFI drops in an always connected world or turn your main monitor black every now and then are both very inconvenient.

Upgraded on my MacBooks here... And it seems like, nothing has been fixed:

- still not able to reinstall or update 11.3 on my MacBook Pro 13" 2018
- M1 external Display is still gone, also rebooting does not help here
- weather link is broken
- Bluetooth stuck also like before

Thanks Apple for not fixing the important bugs!
Did Apple state they were fixing those bugs in this update?

For those wondering about sideloading, using iMazing or apple config 2 don't work any more, but you are able to use AppDB's rickpactor to install iOS apps on your M1. Extract the .IPA from your iOS device using apple config 2 or iMazing, upload it, and install it via rickpactor. You can upload custom .IPAs (you may have got them from a website or the ipas you extracted from your iOS device), or use the ones from AppDB's website.

here's how to do it. Works great in 11.3 despite this being an older video, the publisher also published a video demonstrating using it in 11.3. I just linked the older one cause it showed how to install custom .IPAs imported from iMazing or other places.

I'm tagging those who had a question about sideloading in 11.3 earlier in this chat or said that it wasn't possible:

Xcode has downloaded 5 times for me and gone the whole way through the install process before and after the update to 11.3. I've stopped it now but surely that's a pretty bad bug?

I'm having my third try on a 2015 iMac. I start the download, and was foolish enough to walk away. Each time, when I return, it looks like the iMac, and external monitor are sleeping. I try to wake it up, and get the spinning beachball of death. Hard re-boot again for the third try. I have turn off all sleep features temporarily and have using this iMac. Third download keeps going ups and down in time. 9 min. to 19 min. Now 21 min. What the heck?

MacOS 11.3 solved the problem I had with second monitor on m1 mac mini, connected via USB-C dongle. With previous version (11.2.3) it was detected only when disconnected and reconnected again.

The new Safari version ignores previously disabled font smoothing (https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/disable-font-smoothing-in-macos-big-sur/). Does anybody know, how to make it to respect the setting? Looks terrible.

So, if someone also can't stand font smoothing, here is how you can disable it on newer Safari versions:

1. Download any app, that allows injecting custom styles for web pages (I'm using Cascadea).
2. Creat a CSS style that applies to all webpages with following:

CSS:
html {
    -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased;
}

3. You're good to go.

Not much has changed, but finally the finder windows retain the custom size I gave them.
It was such an annoying bug

Anyone know how I can test using my HomePods as Mac speakers please? I can't see them listed as output devices in my sound options. Do they have to be paired to the Mac? And if so how is this done. Have tried googling but to no avail.
