Please clarify what security updates have to do with 32 bit support?
One of the major reason why there are users still on Mojave is because it supports 32 bit.
That includes enterprise customers.
Hence Apple had been supporting Mojave security patches longer than High Sierra. :)

A lot of music/audio plugins were never updated to 64 bit support. Including major synth manufactures (ahem Access Virus - looking at you). Thus forcing some folks to stick with Mojave (or earlier). Though I would hope anyone doing that is using that Mac ONLY for music/audio.

This is not true as High Sierra is the end of the line for quite a few Macs. The last HS update was in November, so according to your logic Mojave should still have a support past November this year.

hm...
That is a good point.
Which means, the issue may be possibly not found on Mojave then.

All Macs that support Mojave support Catalina, so Apple probably decided not to bother. People who are afraid to run their Macs without security updates probably run Catalina or unsupported Monterey/Big Sur already.
with the rare exceptions of mac pro 2010-2012

Upgraded my MBP 16 (Intel) with Thunderbolt display and everything upgraded smoothly and everything seems to be working fine.

Anecdotal, but I haven't had any eGPU or Thunderbolt issues with .5 or, now, .6. I don't have the million dollar Apple display, though, so if that's what you're talking about then my anecdote is extra useless!

My specific hardware, if it helps: Sonnet Breakaway Box 550, RX 580, and LG Ultrawide 5K something-or-other monitor. Oh and the last Intel Mac Mini. 2018? That sounds right.

Thanks for the reply. No million dollar Apple displays here, either. I have a Razer Core X with an RX 5500XT, which I use with a 2019 MacBook Pro. I guess what I read amounted to just a comment or two on a MacRumors article--I haven't been able to find a lot of news or reports of similar types of issues.

I'll give it a shot I guess--backing up now.

Yeah unfortunately if you're still using the older OS for whatever reason and are concerned about security issues, at some point you're just going to have to pull the Ethernet cable.

any links to manually download the FULL installer? since this may be the last update for Big Sur.
I use this app and it hasn’t updated, either. I’ve found the seeded links don't get updated for almost a day sometimes.

Macs are no longer secure. Perhaps they never were but in the past there were not active exploits all over the place. I guess the issue is they're using the same base OS libraries for Mac and iPhone and the iPhone is a huge yummie hacking target where each zero day is worth over $1M, so more and more will continue to get found..

Updated 2 iPhones and 2 Macs today.

But I am well aware there's thousands of zero days still in all these things

In this cat and mouse game, the hackers have currently won.

Same. I'm also waiting to update until confirmation that the issues with eGPU are fixed.

No issues here--all smooth sailing. eGPU works fine on 11.6.
