Updated my mini... but the damn wallpaper gets reset every time i update Big Sur. Anyone else have this issue?
This is actually the first update that this hasn't happened to me. Previous updates would either use the default wallpaper or the one that I first changed to a hundred years ago. Software is weird.

7 hours post release and still no full installer...
I have a theory why there is no full installer. It might be completely wrong. But I could be right.

First the update had to be released as soon as possible because of the security fix, hence the update now.

Ipsw files often get released before the full installer. Alas there is no ipsw either which is unusual.

So my theory is that ipsw files and full installers often contain information on new hardware which hasn't even been announced yet let alone released. So apple released the update because of security, but are holding back on releasing the ipsw and full installer till tomorrow after they announce new macs (some info on which may be found in the ipsw and full installer).

Anyway that's just my guess. As I said before it could be completely wrong - but on the other hand it might be right.

It’s showing up as available on my M1 mac mini but when I click “Update Now” nothing happens, the action won’t take.

Anyone else having this problem?

Edit: Reboot fixed it. Strange. Some quirky behavior at times with Big Sur/M1 that I don’t recall encountering before.

DO NOT UPDATE IF YOU USE ONEDRIVE FOR BUSINESS AND SEVERAL ACCOUNTS !!
Only one account was showing up after the update. Therefore, I uninstalled OneDrive, reinstalled it and cannot log into any of my business accounts : you click on business/school account and it crashes (the log show "...tried to register for endpoint "com.microsoft.SkyDrive" already registered by owner..."). I even reinstalled office after removing it clean : no joy. In short : no access to any business data ... Great .... Not like I was using these for work ...
FYI : I am not alone. -> https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/big-sur-11-6-onedrive.2310591/

No update via Patched Sur.

This update has stopped out Seiko Label printers from working - Intel MBP
We have stopped anyone else updating

One of the major reason why there are users still on Mojave is because it supports 32 bit.
That includes enterprise customers.
Hence Apple had been supporting Mojave security patches longer than High Sierra. :)
Aren't they just ending support once a year? HS' last security update was mid November last year...

Not sure, Mojave got the Safari update yesterday after my first post on this topic.
Just hoping to get it a little longer because living without iTunes is a learning curve I don't need now.

Note: if you have your Mac enrolled to participate in macOS betas you apparently will not be able to install the update since the only thing that shows up is the beta. There used to be a "more" link when betas were enabled and there was a non-beta update available. That is gone now. AFAIK, the only way to update is to disable betas, which will then show the 11.6 update.

Kwalitee....

My wifi has started to become wonky after upgrading my M1 Mac mini. This has occurred twice now.

DHCP is no longer assigning me an ip. All other devices work well at home and the only workaround I've found is to reboot the machine to get it working again which is bothersome. I believe that this started with 11.6.

Anyone else that started expericing WiFi issues?

This thread started as an M1 MBP related issue, but I think it’s more related to macOS 11

Apple today released macOS Big Sur 11.6, the sixth major update to the macOS Big Sur operating system that first launched in November 2020. macOS Big Sur 11.6 comes a month after the release of macOS Big Sur 11.5.2, a bug fix update.

The new ‌‌‌‌‌‌macOS Big Sur‌‌‌‌‌ 11.6 update can be downloaded all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Preferences.

According to Apple's release notes, macOS Big Sur improves the security of macOS and is recommended for all users. Apple has also released security update 2021-005 for macOS Catalina, and both updates address an issue that could allow a maliciously crafted PDF to execute code. Apple says that it is aware of a report that this bug may have been actively exploited.

This update nerfed smb browsing for my users. Spinning wheel of death. I am going to try the DSDontWriteNetworkStores and see if that helps. Users going 5 folders deep to display about 5 pdf files get spinning wheel of death. This is after the 11.5.2 update but persists in the 11.6 update.

I got the notification to update to 11.6 but when it went to install it, it said, "Rosetta update failed to download (or was not available)". and now it says that I'm current as of 11.5.2

I am facing Touch ID issues after this update. I tried deleting existing finger & then add new one. But the Touch ID Is not sensing my finger at all (I mean, it is not sensing the finger prints to add new one at all, leave alone unlocking the system).

So is this hardware issue or can be rectified ??? Since it is not sensing my finger for adding new finger, i am feeling it's a hardware issue.

Any idea guys ???
