Looks like nobody's going to be getting Big Sur. They should maybe call it Big Fail. God only knows how bad it will be even if anyone can download it and actually do an upgrade. Backup is certainly a must with this since it's not likely to work.

Same here, made it to 12.18, failed and won't restart update. blah!
Even after rebooting several times, still can’t restart download. What a waste of time that was.
Does anyone know where the partially downloaded file is located? I'd like to delete it and start fresh.
Began installation fail message, after three restarts of that I now get:

Went to 100% but then failed. Restarted, failed still. Ugh. What a trash fire mess this has been.
Yeah mine failed again after getting to 4.22GB . Now it just gives up instantly after trying via Software Update.
Same as everyone else. It downloaded all 12.18GB, sat there spinning for a long time, then failed. Now it fails every time I check.
Got all the way to the end and it failed and now I cant restart the download. Guess I have to reboot and try again
Managed to update RC2 to GM, then rebooted into recovery to do a clean install by holding CMD+R.
Wiped disk with disk utility then went to install.

you would think that a tech company could figure out how to correctly stagger updates by now. but clearly they have no idea what they are doing.
