Failed twice: 8+ and 11+GB. ’Fool me once.....’. Will wait until tomorrow.

Same here. Tried it on two of my Macs, booth showed the error several times after downloading 2-8 GB. The download was really slow, but what really annoys me is, that the download always starts from the beginning.

Apple software these days: It just does not work and no attention to details..

Will try it again tomorrow.

I'm on RC2 and went through the App Store to download. I haven't been able to get past 2.50 GB without it failing. Now it just keeps failing. Apple is having huge issues. I know the final version is just one build number up 29 vs 28.

Does anyone know where the partially downloaded file is located? I'd like to delete it and start fresh.
This. I would like to purge any cached update files. Anyone know the cmd line string to do this.

Completed the download with a failed install like the rest of you all. Hope this gets sorted out, not a great first impression so far !

Install is failing through the terminal:

Code:
REDACTED@REDACTED ~ % sudo softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.0.1
Password:
Downloading and installing 11.0.1 installer
SUPreferenceManager: Failed to set object of class: __NSCFString for key: LastRecommendedMajorOSBundleIdentifier with error: Error Domain=SUPreferenceManagerErrorDomain Code=1 "(null)"
SUPreferenceManager: Failed to set object of class: __NSCFString for key: LastRecommendedMajorOSBundleIdentifier with error: Error Domain=SUPreferenceManagerErrorDomain Code=1 "(null)"
Install failed with error: Installation failed

My attempt to update keeps failing.

Just got this error as well, mine got stuck at 1.51 GB, tried restarting and re-dwonloading multiple times, but keep getting the same error. :/ not a good sign for Big Sur, I had a huge issue with the betas on my 15" MBP 2015 since I had bootcamp and it wrecked my SSD. I would advise to be careful if you're updating with bootcamp on your mac.
