Not for everybody! I still have to use Amphetamine app to keep my Mac from Kernal Panics every time it sleeps.... I hope they fixed that
There's something going on with your setup. Obviously one or a few of your apps are causing the KP's. I have two Macs I use daily to run my business and have yet to get a KP upon waking them from sleep. And please don't write back calling me lucky. My system is running like it's supposed to so check out your setup.

Public Beat installed, it did say "Release candidate" but here's a screenshot after installation, just as FYI

What if you're still on Mojave because it runs so smoothly and the endless stories of the dumpster fire that's Catalina are a deterrent not to update?
I was in the same camp a few months ago but then I was forced to update to Catalina so I could use the latest Xcode. It's still not as good as Mojave but it has improved over time.

That's what I am seeing. About 10GB less ram usage with the same apps compared to before the Supplemental update.
That’s significant, My 2017 13 inch MacBook Pro has 8gb ram so any improvement (Ram management is already great as is) in ram management is welcome, it sounds like this is more than just a “Security” up but rather a well optimizing update for an already great OS. (Catalina has been fantastic IMO and I have no desire to look back at Mojave etc)

Three Questions:

1. As of right now, why is there no link to the 10.15.7 Supplemental Update on Apple's website?

2. I know can be downloaded from the Mac App Store using the Update feature in the System Preferences app. But why cannot it be downloaded from Apple's website?

3. Will the 10.15.7 Supplemental Update be later released inside of a newly revised 10.15.7 Combo Update?

They haven't been, really. Catalina will still randomly decide on wake from sleep that laptops don't have trackpads or keyboards.
This. So f... annoying!!! My Mac takes less time to boot than to enable the keyboard and trackpad after sleep. I have learned to wait until the keyboard backlight is enabled and just then start using the Mac. This bug was introduced around March coinciding with the launch of this year Macbook Air.

I am in this boat. While I’ve waited on a major version upgrade until the first or second minor revision, I’ve never held back anywhere close to this long, nor have I ever skipped an entire OS X version like it looks like I will end up doing with Catalina.

There are lots of people here saying they don’t have issues after the update but basically the best case scenario for me seems to be upgrading without problems but then also no real must-have improvement or new features, since Mojave is working so well for me as of now.

Why don't they have a minor version number instead of calling it a supplemental update?

I just updated and there is no way to tell whether or not the update actually happened.

Edit: @Unsupported showed me how to find it. That can also be found under
About This Mac -> System Report -> Software
But having a minor version number would be so much easier.

Go by the build number which is located in the About This Mac window. For this supplemental release the build number is 10.15.7 (19H15). Simple.

Are you saying the FIRST initial release of Big Sur is more stable than the latest release of MacOS Catalina? your statement is absurd, it will take months for Big Sur to be anywhere near “Stable”

Catalina has been superb and rock solid on my 2017 MacBook Pro..
Your statement is absurd. We all know Leopard wasn't great and that Snow Leopard when first released was more stable than Leopard. Same goes could go for Big Sur.

The kernel is updated by this supplemental update.
After the update:
Code:
Darwin Mac.local 19.6.0 Darwin Kernel Version 19.6.0: Thu Oct 29 22:56:45 PDT 2020; root:xnu-6153.141.2.2~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64
Before the update:
Code:
Darwin Mac.local 19.6.0 Darwin Kernel Version 19.6.0: Mon Aug 31 22:12:52 PDT 2020; root:xnu-6153.141.2~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64
I think they had some intern dev run sudo touch kernel.com

why do this minor updates take so long? i had 21 minutes on a mac mini 2020 (i5)
and 20 min on a macbook pro 2019. (without counting the download time).
is this normal?

Seriously? New MacOS versions take several months to reach a stable build that the majority of the public should update to and that is simply a fact. Anyone updating to big sur right away as soon as its released is essentially beta testing it for the rest of the public. (Which is fine of course) but to say that Catalina is bad and what not is simply absurd. Catalina is a solid performer at this point since it's release.

wonder if they fixed the issue with windowserver eating way more CPU from simple safari scrolling even with a clean install. Rarely ever see 90%+ idle CPU because of that.

Going back to mojave, it idles at 99% CPU and windowserver uses very little CPU for scrolling tasks

I think a lot of people are simply hating on Catalina out of habit now. It’s sad.

Catalina on my mid-2012 MacBook Pro has been more stable than Windows 10 on my late 2017 Omen by HP laptop, where updates caused Windows to eat itself several times.
