Question is if this build will still give white screen when booting up from an Egpu monitor or not.......

I still experience the white screen of death issue when I boot my Mac Mini 2018 with eGPU (RX570) attached.

Downloaded it 2 times, was canceled at the end 2 times. Can't see it in developer apple.com too. Did they pull it back?

i have the same situation..

Did you reboot? or kept waiting?
Could be because of large music library?, cause update is putting them in differ directories as the default directory have changed.

-update:

i waited and finally it kept on installing! only 20 minutes to go... :)
How long did you wait?? I rebooted by pressing the button. Came back, just left it for 40 mins and still saying 9 minutes remaining and profess bar hasn’t moved. Doesn’t look good. Do have fair few albums in itunes from own library but not sure how long I should leave it? Can I go back to Mojave now? Reboot and hold Control + R?

I have a fast internet connection but it’s stalling. It took about an hour to download the first time then it threw up an error saying it couldn’t verify. Started the downloading the update all over again and crawling at a snails pace.

The install crapped out on me. Took me back to downloading the update, which happened very quickly, then it installed properly, but took a long time to get back up and running. I wasn't paying attention to the time, as I was working on my iPad Pro, but I'm guessing it was about an hour or so. It will be interesting to see how it performs on my 2013 iMac.

I checked my storage just now after installing Catalina I got 5GB of free storage back on my Macintosh HD drive. I'm doing a backup using time machine and the backup is huge 15GB.

how did you create a usb stick? with Catalina the old method does not work

I didn't create a usb download/install. I did the install through system preference software update. The download was pretty quick but the install took about 1 hour.

I wonder if they'll continue offering iTunes for download or if AppleMusic, AppleTV and Podcasts apps will be made available in the App Store for older machines.

Maybe we can just skip 128 bit and go right to 256 bit. What could possibly go wrong… go wrong… go wrong… go wrong...

Maybe Tim will speak at the WWDC in 2020 and say "Macs have been leading a secret life. It will be running on Apple's A chip since Lion for years. And High Sierra on 128-bit and recently 256-bit since Catalina was shipped."

But Tim would probably just say "We are going to a new "incredible" Apple custom chips in 3 years".

sign out and then back in.
it’s the only way I got it fixed.
The last time I did that (admittedly a few years ago) my MacBook decided it would be a good idea to completely re-upload all of my photos to the cloud, which took a few weeks! Once bitten, twice shy. I hope they've fixed that particular nasty by now.

NB, in respect of today's OS update, I too was pestered multiple times to enter my Apple ID password. I stuck at it, think how long will it carry on playing dumb. After about ten prompts it did stop nagging me in the end, and all is now well.

I notice that 'Move to Trash' has now been renamed 'Move to Bin'. Is this a UK thing? If so, good, because we don't have Trash over here.

So I just updated and all my added folders in Macintosh HD were deleted.
After my update finished, it created a shortcut on my desktop called "Relocated Items." It looks like any files you had in what are now considered restricted locations, the OS put them in "Relocated Items" as a holding pen so you can manually put them somewhere else.

I don't know if that's exactly what happened to you, but could be related.

I'm going to wait at least a few days, at least a week for initial reports to start filtering out. I do have a few 32-bit apps (like my Brother printer manager and the app for my older Logitech Harmony remote) but no real show-stoppers.

I plan to use Clean-My-Mac to search for and delete old 32 apps. I’ll let the forum know how well it works.

that's why I found it best to back up the important stuff and do a full clean install with this one. too many things have changed to make for easy upgrade

So the Remote app on iOS no longer works with Catalina because, well, iTunes is gone. Is there another app I can use? Or I can I no longer control music Air Play-ing from my Mac to remote speakers? If so, should I be outraged and send Tweets?

I have completed the upgrade but do not know what to do about the "Relocated Items" folder that was placed on my desktop. I read the attached message but have no idea what the files in the folder are for.
