Took 4 tries at downloading - 3 of which took forever before failing - last one was relatively quick. Then took a long time to install including getting hung up on the configuring screen and the macbook got very warm - powered it off and back and now seems to be running fine on new OS

Mine rebooted and it’s stuck on the black screen with Apple logo and ‘Estimating time remaining...’ with the progress bar at about 10% and it’s been like that for about an hour now. Reboot with button at the back do you think? Doesn’t look like anything is happening.

i have the same situation..

Did you reboot? or kept waiting?
Could be because of large music library?, cause update is putting them in differ directories as the default directory have changed.

-update:

i waited and finally it kept on installing! only 20 minutes to go... :)

Had a few failed attempts for the update. Do the failed attempts get stored anywhere so that I can delete the files?

Ok I have some issues with the new apps that are split from iTunes. It feels like iOS now, which I don't like.
First off, in Music when you open an Album, it doesn't open it on the same page as before, it opens a new page - which I definitely not enjoy.
In Podcasts - I used to have podcasts that I wasn't subscribed and was able to stream episodes either I downloaded them or not. Now they don't show up at all.
In Books - I used to have Audiobooks that were split into chapters. Now I can't even open up to see what's playing.

Another weird gimmick - starting to play a podcast should stop music from playing.

Welcome to watered down toy apps. Hope this is worth killing iTunes over. Be careful what you wish for.

Anyone else stuck on "To enable iCloud Keychain, review and upgrade your Apple ID security." repeatedly entering the password but not getting anywhere (yes 2FA is enabled)

How many like myself are using a 32 bit version of PhotoShop?
You know, the pay once installed version that works great and needs no update which I use almost daily.
I won't be upgrading to Catalina because I won't be taking out a monthly subscription from Adobe.
Adobe must be over the moon about this update.

After years of Photoshop I switched to Affinity Photo and never looked back.

Keep getting update Apple ID settings? I update then a few seconds later it comes up again?

Had this problem on a few of my devices after iOS 13.1 (skipped 13.0). Everyone told me to do this or that and it WOULD work. They were wrong. Then someone suggested changing my password and see if that helped. It did help, but one device, my iPhone 7 Plus, still has the problem. It's my backup phone, so no biggie. Also, my MBP, which I'm about to to a clean install of Catalina on, has been doing this all throughout the Beta. We shall see.

Point? No one solution works for everyone. It is OBVIOUSLY a REAL problem, despite some people saying it's in our heads.

yes I had that issues as well, I quit settings and tried it again and it worked fine after that

After downloading exit from Install Catalina. Make sure that its in your applications folder. (you may want to make a backup of the installer first) Insert a 16gb USB Pendrive format it as Untitled using MacOS journaled. Open terminal and use the following text
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Catalina.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled

if anyone wants to create a USB Installer follow these instructions.

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Catalina.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled

with Catalina there is no /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Catalina.app. that works until Mojave.
does anybody know where the download is stored?

Started the download. It got halfway done and then I got a message saying the download had been deleted from the Apple servers.. Now Software Update isn't showing it at all...

Anyone else with the folders Preboot and Preboot 1 in Macintosh HD after the Catalina upgrade?

If you have installed Catalina from the App Store, you'll have the installer app.

that's the next problem. if I download Catalina from MAS, syspref opens and download 8GB, but I dont know where.
I know from Mojave I can download MacOS from MAS to the application folder

Its in the applications Folder.
The exact wording is
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Catalina.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled
and remember it needs 16gb stick not 8gb

I am on my second download attempt. I was hoping by the third attempt it would install.
