My list is alarmingly huge and contains all my Adobe applications... This isn't going to be fun...

Lol. Doesn’t sound like fun to me either. Hope it was worth it.

Horrible update so far.

Clean install was messed up by the T2 chip's security (which was disabled but for some reason it still refused to boot the installer without an "update").

Then, after installing, I find I can't download the paid apps on my old Apple ID because they've removed the "Purchased By..." option in the App Store - family sharing doesn't seem to work with Catalina's App Store at all!

I bought a cheapo iPad monitor stand to use Sidecar with my new mini, and now I find out that my iPad isn’t compatible.

Oh well. Off to the kitchen with it, to view recipes 😂

Are only the pros compatible with Sidecar?

This update is just awful. I have thousands of audiobook files and Catalina has decided to move them into the Library inside folders...

There's no way of knowing what's what!!?!?! All I see is...

This is an absolute sh*tshow! I have always been happy to move with the times when it comes to updates but splitting up iTunes was meant to make things easier. Instead they've completely complicated things.

Luckily I have a back up so I'll be Time Machining back to OS12 when I get home

I haven't updated yet because I'm worried about losing my audiobooks (mp3s and m4bs). Please post here if you find the solution.

Nevermind, I see a later post that they are now living in the Books app.

I suggest not updating to Catalina

I have mine on a NAS. Should be safe....nothing to do with OS unless in 10.15's Finder locations is not there.
Do you mean will VLC work?

Thank you sir! Yes mine is on a NAS / 2-bay drive as well, just wanted to make sure it didn’t override the folder or something wonky. Can’t be too careful because it would be absolutely a nightmare for me (rural internet). Thanks again! Updating now

It listed the Adobe Application Manager as a 32-bit program. However, Adobe Creative Cloud and Photoshop/Illustrator are working just fine after the upgrade.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I have the latest Photoshop CC 2019 and Illustrator CC 2019 installed.

This is a MAJOR change from iTunes -> Music, TV and Podcasts. The folder structure is entirely different. Have you tried creating a new library and manually adding in your Audiobooks?

Just FYI, I only have movies, tv shows and music from my iTunes and it blew up my folder structure due to migrations. Not that I care about folder structures, but this is a major change in how these programs are structured and saves files.

One other point regarding audiobooks... they have removed the skip forward/backward 15 seconds from the touchbar. First Apple introduces the touchbar then fail to utilize in in their apps.

As you might have noticed, this update has angered me a little
😤

I posted a while ago that I was caught in an endless loop of installing Catalina and then it would restart and Mojave would still be there. Deleted the installer, tried for a 5th and 6th time, maybe even a 7th, and found that it screwed up my MOJAVE settings so I had to do a full recovery from Carbon Copy. It's a new 2018 MacBook Pro that's 6 months old. Nothing funky installed. Latest updates to everything.

No clue what's happening but that's enough for me. I've already wasted 4 hours.

I'll wait till the next update to try this mess again.

I'm a bit disappointed they stopped supporting 32-bit apps, lots of old games that aren't usable now. Still looking for something nice to say about the update. First time I am disappointed with the an OS update.

The following iPads are compatible:

12.9-inch iPad Pro • 11-inch iPad Pro • 10.5-inch iPad Pro • 9.7-inch iPad Pro • iPad (6th generation or later) • iPad mini (5th generation) • iPad Air (3rd generation)

Works well will both my 11" and 9.7 iPad Pros

So far I absolutely love the iTunes split. So much better. One quick question for TV - Is there a way to see which TV episodes I have watched?

How do you do that? When I hold down option when opening Books I get this...

How is splitting up iTunes making things easier? I really don’t get it. It was never going to do that.

We got all these endless posts about how bloated iTunes is and if they’d only break it up. Just stupidity.

Does anyone have problems playing videos in itunes? I get a unkown error message.

No problems here. Have you tried closing out the TV app and opening it again? Is it migrating all of your content from your previous iTunes library?

Also, the only album artwork I am missing now is my family shared content. Does anyone else have the same issue?

Because iTunes was doing way WAY WAY too much for one program. It was SO SLOW, even on my top of the line 2019 i9 iMac. It was just ridiculously slow. Now the new apps are snappier.

It also didn't help I have thousands of TV episodes, hundreds of movies, and thousands of music which made iTunes so slow.

How difficult would it be for me to install this in another partition on my Mac so that I would have the ability to still use Mojave, as well as delete Catalina in the future if I want to?

Seems to be running fine on a 2012 mini that I use connected to the TV (no Internet or anything). Only really use Finder and VLC. Never had anything in the app formerly known as iTunes on this machine.

You have to allow Terminal to access files at ~/Desktop?
zsh?? I think I used that in the 80's.

Too bad you still can't make icons bigger than the large size or the text size greater than 16 in Finder.
Also have the Relocated Items folder on the Desktop.
You can turn off Screen Time. That's nice.
Wish it would stop telling me to use iCloud.
Big Bang Theory/VLC seems to startup a little faster than Mojave. :)
Shuts down OK.

They fixed a problem in News that will make it much more useful for me. Previously, if you zoomed, the text would enlarge but remain confined to a narrow column. Now, the entire article seems to enlarge. NICE!

That's exactly the same junk they pulled when they took the books out of iTunes. Never bought another book from them after that.

Yup. Because of this my $420 Fujitsu ScanSnap becomes unusable if I upgrade since the ScanSnap software is 32 bit and an upgraded software is not available. There is a 64 bit version of a newer differently named software that is NOT compatible with my scanner. So I can either buy a newer model or more likely I will partition my drive and dual boot into Mojave for Scanner operations. Not looking forward to that!!!
Yup dug out an old 2008 Mac laptop just for scanning sigh scan snap
