My M2 Max just turned off during installation and was difficult to turn on again. Had to disconnect everything and then long press power button. It finally came up. Not updated. I'll wait some days.

Just updated my M3 MB Air and was greeted by a white wallpaper. Turns out I can no longer select a solid background with custom color. No matter what I do in the color selector it's white. Only the ugly predefined colors work. Anyone else?

Apple today released macOS Sequoia 15.4, the fourth major update to the macOS Sequoia operating system that launched in September. macOS Sequoia 15.4 comes two months after the launch of macOS Sequoia 15.3.

Mac users can download the ‌‌macOS Sequoia‌‌ update through the Software Update section of System Settings. It is available for free on all Macs able to run macOS 15.

With macOS 15.4, Apple is bringing Mail Categorization to the Mac. The Mail app features dedicated categories like transactions, updates, and promotions, with important emails organized into a primary section.

Apple News+ subscribers now have access to an Apple News Food section with recipes, food articles, and more. There's a new Sketch style for Image Playground, Memory Movie support in the Photos app for custom slideshows, and new emoji characters.

More information on what's new in macOS Sequoia can be found in our macOS Sequoia roundup.

I updated my MBP M1 ProMax to 15.4
When I try to send an email, from any account, I click on the send icon, it goes grey, nothing happens.
I tried rebooting mail, rebooting the mac, no difference.
If I have a typo in the email, and the dialogue box comes up to address that and I fix it, THEN the mail sends.
I can send mail using a browser.
I have spoken with 5 Apple Advisors so far, no one knows what to do.

Be grateful if it works. It was wrong 80% of time on my phone, and that's not an exaggeration.
Exactly, none of this is trustworthy yet.
It’s like your email client putting some important email into the spam folder for you🧐.
No thanks.

Well, that’s new; it looks like the Mac mini’s fan turns off during sleep.

Before the update, I always used to stick to 1000 RPM.
Checked it via iStat Menus fan history graph.

I guess it’s why you can turn it all thankfully. We are moving into the age where AI and ML will sort our stuff out for most people but like I said it’s cool that you can turn this all off and get Sonoma mail.
The problem is how long for? It is gettng to the stage where AI is everywhere, I have even seen a printer with AI on the box. Washing machines with Ai and even a flipping cooker.
If it is true AI, what ever true AI is, I don't know, but they are certainly using AI to try to sell more units.
Myself, I would go the opposite way.
Already on Android phones, if you use Google Assistant, then you are using their AI Gemini rubbish and there is no getting out of it, apart from not using Google Assistant. Which I don't as I have Alexa as my voice assistant on my phone, not that I use it much, the assistant I mean, not the phone.

I wonder how long it will be before Apple decides that it is going to stop us disabling the AI. They already re-enable it after every update.

Another release another reset of System Parameters, changing the options I chose. Will Apple ever realise that they sold the machine. It's no longer theirs to change.

i wish OS updates were actually about the OS changas and not about apps (which I don't give a flying duck about...)
That is like me for the most part, I can get apps that I need, I don't need to have them included in the OS. I do find Numbers and Pages useful and use the mail app, but that is about it I think.

It seems to be the norm these days, Android, IOS, macOS and Windows, they all seem to be mucking around with the Apps and AI more than the OS

Um, the OS is, you buy a licence to use it, which is the same for most operating systems and software. So yes, they can do what they like. But I understand where you are coming from

ans I don't mind them working in apps and whatnot but those can be updated separately... of you do OS updates just do OS updates and that's it!

KDE is doing quite nice thing - they have separate Plasma releases (sp base KDE) and apart form that they have Plasma Apps release track where they cover the apps...
