Speaking of actual 'improvements,' there was Snow Leopard (10.6).

Yep, the best OS release ever. Because it was JUST about under the hood improvements (efficiency, bugs) with minimal new features; new Emojis, social media integration, and all the other bloat that causes 2 steps forward 1 step back releases. There appear to be a few "I still live in Mommy's house" types that seem to have been too young to appreciate it.

<ENTER GRUMPY OLD MAN MODE>

I haven't read through this thread so someone may have already posted this, however this update hasn't fixed the bug that prompts you to enter your credentials for network volumes even if you have these saved in your keychain. Is a minor irritation, but still baffles me how something so obvious crept into 10.12 let alone 10.12.1

Crappy bugs like this didn't end up in GM releases in the days of Snow Leopard. ;-)

I'm pleased that I'm only running Sierra on my laptop and haven't yet updated my Mac Pro, which is my main desktop machine. Which is appropriate, really, because that's exactly what Apple haven't done to the Mac Pro itself for the last 3 years.

...So the headline doesn't really match up with the content of the article. C'mon, MacRumors, I expect more from you than this. The people who read your site are enthusiasts, we'll read the articles that you post about an OS update without you click-baiting us.
I think you need to be reading The Verge.

My mac has newer update and it is not allowed to reinstall. Apple....

There is a way to bypass this restriction but it might be too difficult, involves switching off SIP and edit a System(version file located in the System folder, I did this not too long ago but it isn't easy at all.
You might have to go this way: Open AppStore (read you mentioned that one you could open), next search for Sierra or look in your purchased history, download and Install.
But, I still think there are other ways to solve this, have you tried to create a new User account and log into the new one, what happens there, if all is working well then there is some conflict in your normal User Account, have you tried holding the Shift Key while logging in, this will prevent any former open programs to Open, also no startup Apps will open.

"Apple has been on an accelerated timeline to get macOS Sierra 10.12.1 released"

hmmmm...you might want to wait a few revisions before getting a new Mac, Apple has dismal quality on a good day when they are not trying to rush an update out the door. I can't imagine how poor this release will be if they tied it to a hardware release date.

Accelerated + Apple != quality

Not too young to appreciate 500 GB of user data being deleted in OS X 10.6.2

Thanks.
Im not able to create new user because all apps except App store are crashing, even system preferences.
I have tried safe mode, smc, pram, first aid - nothing helped :(

No worries
Did you try logging in while holding the Shift key, hold it for a minute or so until the OS has loaded, I mentioned this in my former post.
There are more options as I told you in my last post, don't give up yet.

Well, the credential prompt every time when mounting network shares is still there (the user & pwd are in keychain and the fields in the password dialogue are filled, just needs an OK).

I feel (too) old, remembering the days when OS updates actually brought fixes. Now we get a new smart album into Photos :p

The mounting shares' issue exists because some programmer in that huge macOS team (no kidding) thought it was unsafe if you could mount shares in /Volumes without root access. If you can afford it, get:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/automounter-your-nas-shares-native-macos-app.2007808/

works like a charm. Including cases like updating the NAS firmware, the share is gone, and comes back automatically. Shares mount also hidden as it should. No more Finder windows at boot.

Who really wants siri on a mac...or cortana on a pc?
Well... the main features for Sierra are Siri, better facial recognition for Photos (not available yet) and new file system (not available yet). It would be kinda hard to advertise "the new major release of Mac operating system... now contains Folders On Top... looks the same... but we changed some drivers and stuff".

Still issue persist. Seems that only reinstalling os x will help :(
