no offense but a few days ago another user made the same claim and it's really that they don't understand how the thing whole things works, right now i have an nvidia 1080 working flawlessly on sierra 10.12.5 and nvidia official drivers are not out yet, here is the proof, you just have to know how

it's always been like this, there is no conspiracy and trust me nobody likes conspiracies more than me
apple releases the update then a day or 2 later Nvidia releases the new web driver update
but the ones that know the trick don't have to wait for Nvidia to release the web driver
in order to install the update
simply modify a file
NVDAStartupWeb.kext
and add the new build #
now after you reboot the files matches the build # and the file load the web drivers
then after Nvidia releases the official version of web drivers
you can download the official web drivers and install them

i have 2 samsung 960 in raid0 hitting 6000 in reading i'm just waiting on 2 more coming tomorrow
maybe you should try to build a hackintosh
just for learning purposes

Hey thanks! That's awesome. Is it ever buggy if you do that though?

I tried Hackintoshing in 2007 when Apple started using Intel processors and dabbed in it for a few years. I still have modded Tiger and Leopard install discs laying around somewhere. It always seemed like more trouble than it was worth. I'm happy using real Macs. They don't have the latest hardware, but they do what I need them to do and usually are pretty trouble-free.
[doublepost=1494902981][/doublepost]Actually I still have a Dell Vostro A90 with Snow Leopard installed on it. It works great! I remember it was kind of a pain to do updates on it though. Always had to use a custom program to apply them.

I bought that one because I wanted a netbook and Apple didn't have the 11" Air yet. When they finally came out with it though the netbook craze was pretty much over. Then it was iPads. Now iPads don't seem to be as popular as they used to be. I still use mine pretty often though.

i like macs and i like apple "mac os" why you think i'm running sierra and not windows
but the problem is i can't install a water cooler on a mac

i have a vanilla hackintosh, the closet to the real thing
yes i know is not a real mac anyway

but you should see my benchmarks results in all areas
CPU, RAM, VIDEO, ETC ETC

i do not waste my time with windows
ransomeware :D

most users fight
which is better a mac or a pc
the answer is very simple
a hackintosh
:)

it depends if you pick the right parts when you are building it
every part that i choose has to be natively supported by os
that's the trick
how you think i updated so fast to 10.12.5

it really depends in your knowledge
but if is a vanilla then is actually very simple
just like a regular "genuine mac"

if you think super extreme fast hardcore is buggy
then mines is buggy as hell

:)

i have no complaints i love my hackintosh because i hate windows
and is super extremely fast
trouble free

What I hope gets fixed is when I wake up my 2016 MacBook pro and I can't click on either of my user accounts to input my password. I have to click switch user, switch back then login. Every. Time.

Just my own feelings. I don't often come to this subforum. This thread was initiated in the macOS 10.12 subforum:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macos-10-12-5-is-out.2045804/

And then closed by the mods??????

I wouldn't have known it was out if it wasn't for that thread.

I'm downloading the Combo update now, but have to wait to installation until the Nvidia Web Driver is released.

Lou

Yeah... me too,
I'm the original post of the thread you post,
if it's the close by the mod,
I never knew there's a thread here

AutoTimeZone Location bug still happening in 10.12.5 ... what are you doing Apple!
really?
maybe I have to set back to manual again..

This update was "weird"
1. It never showed up as an app store notification. Wouldn't have known about it if it weren't for macrumors
2. When I searched for the update in the app store, it didn't show up. I walked away for about 5 minutes at which point it finally did show up.
3. After the update was installed, I always go back to the app store to see if there are any other updates available once the latest OS update has been installed and the app store does not show 10.12.5 as having been installed. Other updates from back in April DO show up.

What's up with the weirdness Apple?
mini did show up,
but the first one is itunes, I pressed update,
and it popped up again, but I didn't notice it was OS update ,
I thought it's something weird the same thing(itunes update) popped up twice.
At the restart I finally realized is OS update... LOL

Come on, Apple. Don't you want the Mac to succeed in the workplace?

1 desk - 1 Mac.
1 human - average 3 more family members - 4 iPhones, maybe 2 iPads, maybe 1 or 2 or more Mac laptops.

where should we focus? :p

It's been known for months that APFS will be introduced in 10.13. With that said, I'd keep away from it for awhile. New filesystems are dangerous, especially as the boot partition.

Having it to boot my MacBook may just not be happening soon, but I am using it on an external drive, and boy that system is really, really fast. Previously had it formatted HFS and it was "just working". After reformatting it to APFS, it is really, really fast. File transfers between my MBP and that disk that took long, now take seconds and just a few minutes. Really, really fast. I cannot overstate this. I look forward to having APFS on the SSD inside the MBP 2016. Times they are a changin' !

"- Fixes an issue where audio may stutter when played through USB headphones"

I thought that was just a dodgy connection on my Dell soundbar!! But hey - it's gone now!

Did they pull it? It doesn't show up for me in App Store nor I can find the combo updater on Apple's website...

Man, finally a fix for the USB audio issue. It is terrible on the Astro A50s. Have to check if this really fixes it.

When google stop being complete arses and restore the functionality youtube had previously.

Why would they go back to older standard H264 which has licensing costs over the newer, more efficient and free VP9 codec? Not to mention for the Safari which has only 15.9% market share vs. Chrome, Firefox and Opera which have about 70%.

What's the "usual libraries song and dance"? This isn't typical behavior.

[RANT]

This behaviour is typical on my machine, and on many other users' machines. In any case, it happens each time I update Yosemite. I've been told that this is a bug that has been fixed in later version of MacOS. The thing is that I am doing critical work until June, and I cannot risk an update going bad again (some previous updates required restoring my machine at the lost of a day each time). In any case, the issue seems to be something about secinitd, and it seems to keep cycling through the same set of libraries trying to repair them but it can't. I spent hours of typing in my password to fix libraries (one at a time, with no possibility of pasting in my password - thanks, Apple ), then I realised that the process seemed to be in an endless loop, so I rebooted and all seems to work. I think.

I used to brag about how bulletproof Apple's updating was. Now I have this problem (and other fundamental ones, like iTunes not being able to backup my iPhone). And, in spite of how Apple drones on about their wonderful user interface, the only information they provide me when errors occur is gobbledegook. Their online material is crap, and most the time they answer user questions be referring to ... other users. I had to dig in to the console logs to find out what was happening in secintd, and, in spite of the fact that I have been computing for 30 years, I'm still not quite sure what the source of the error is, other than the relevant libraries might be read-only directories (the properties of which I never set). You'd think Apple would prompt the user to make the relevant directory read/write, but they don't. I've been using Apple desktops since the Lisa, and there has been no advance whatsoever in the user interface when something goes wrong. All you get are dialogue boxes with no information, or with utter gibberish. Even the process name 'secintd' is going to sound like a secret code to most users. I presume it means something like 'security initialisation daemon' but apparently Apple can't be bothered to type that out. #LazyEngineers

Also, why isn't there AI being applied to maintain the OS health of each OS X machine? #NoExcuse

I updated from 10.12.4 and now my 2011 iMac can't connect to my Apple Bluetooth keyboard. I did the typical resets and it still won't connect. Luckily I keep a USB keyboard around precisely for such nonsense. I'm going to try reinstalling the OS. It might not hurt because there are plenty of things that don't 'just work'.

Following up on this the problem has resolved. I had intended to reinstall macOS. Last night I started the process. After several hours it wasn't complete. I checked the log in the recovery mode (⌘ + L). If I was reading it right it had downloaded 44% of the install. I thought that was terrible given my internet speed, but it should finish by morning.

This morning it was still downloading and had only reached 66%. At this point I thought it was time to reassess the situation. I figured either my internet connection was hosed or Apple had server issues. I stopped the reinstall. I then did a speedtest. I was getting just 1.5 Mbps down, but 5 up.

I need to be able to use my Mac so I thought I'd just use Time Machine to take me back to before the update. I started to do that but once I selected the backup and clicked through the prompts it told me it couldn't erase my Macintosh HD. So this was going nowhere.

I went back to addressing the internet speed. I reset my modem and got a more normal download speed around 50 Mbps. I then decide to heck with it. I'll just stay at 10.12.5 and use my noisy old plastic USB keyboard. I didn't want to fool around with trying to fix the problem.

I rebooted my iMac. When it came up I figured I'd see if I could get the Bluetooth keyboard working again one last time. I noticed the light was off it. I pushed the power button in the keyboard and got no light. I wondered if the batteries were dead. I replaced them and turned on the keyboard. I went to the Bluetooth preference pain. Lo and behold it shows the keyboard wanting to pair (I had previously forgotten it in an attempt to repair).

So now it seems to be working. This is one of those situations where I have no idea why it now works. The keyboard had power when I first encountered the problem as the light was on. Was it so low in power it couldn't connect but could still show a light? That seems unlikely. I got super frustrated trying to fix the problem. It seemed like everything was going wrong. I also am a little leery of the Time Machine restore process since it didn't seem to work. Then again it not working saved me an unnecessary reinstall. I'm not share anyone cares about the details but if you read this you've probably experienced a calamity of errors like this yourself.
