Question here for everyone. Can we still make the USB boot stick installer with these? I ask, because up to this past April, I had been on a mid-2011 MBA running Sierra, and as it was solid on it, High Sierra was buggy as anything on it, and High Sierra was the latest MacOS that would support that Mac, I hadn't performed a OS update in 6 years.

Now that I'm on a M1 Pro MBP, can this still be done with the full Ventura download?

BL.
I always download the macOS from AppStore and create bootable USB from that install package.

I've a big problem with my usb-c hub.
I'm using a cable matters usb-c hub that connects to my monitor via displayport, charges my MacBook Pro 14, provides ethernet and two usb-ports - pretty awesome up to Ventura.
After updating to Ventura nothing is working anymore. I tried to change the settings of the accessories to "always" allow, rebootet, but nothing helped. From a quick glance at the system reports it appears as if the usb hub isn't detected anymore.
Does anyone else has this issue?

Installing now but I tried using the terminal command to get full install and it didn't recognize the command? I entered it just like the text.

Any ideas. Would like a complete install.

Thanks
You tried softwareupdate --list-full-installer[s]? Note that characters in brackets are optional, so you could say installer or installers, and it will work.

Then, AFTER hitting return and reading the output, run softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 13.0

I got a LG ERGO Ultrafine 32UN880. Sadly I have no way to fix it. I will see if I can find a fix next weekend or I will roll back
I have not been able to give the direct link to this video but presumably it will show up in a search. The title is a bit strange but apparently the main issue is to do with HDR rather than other settings.

WARNING!! DON’T BUY an LG 32" 4K UltraFine Ergo for Productivity!

I quite like Stage Manager on iMac M1 and iPad Pro M1.
BTW, love the Weather app too. I hadn't known it was also for macOS!
Clock app is also new, but not as in-depth as Weather app using the dark sky technology. There is another app coming in a future Ventura update called Freeform.

Has anyone been able to create a USB Installer for Ventura? When running the following command (my Volume is labeled 'Untitled'):
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Ventura\ Installer.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/Untitled –nointeraction

I get the following return error:
sudo: /Applications/Install macOS Ventura Installer.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia: command not found

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@gank41 Are those hyphens single or double hyphens? You need --volume and --nointeraction.

You could dig into the full installer and see if the createinstallmedia file even exists.

I am actually going to be angry if they removed the ability to create bootable installers.

I must have just entered it in wrong, got it going. Really looking forward to installing over itself. I'm pretty confident most of my issues will go away from this (knocks on wood).

You shouldn't have the word Installer in there.

So instead of

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Ventura\ Installer.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/Untitled –nointeraction

try

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Ventura.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/untitled --nointeraction

You actually can leave off the --nointeraction part. I'm actually going to use

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Ventura.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/untitled

Whatever command you use has to correspond to the name of the installer.

Here is a picture of the installer icon:

So use Install macOS Ventura not Install macOS Ventura Installer.

I was 6 years old when they made their upgrades free, so I really don't remember when you had to pay for them. Although I DO remember when Final Cut used to cost $1000 and Logic $800.
I old I got you beat! You used to have to pay 100.00 for a .Mac email address, back in the OS9 days per year.

This is very concerning. I still have a lot of users with Anker USB-C hubs.

Yes, you should be able to do that. Just run sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Ventura.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Name\ of\ volume (god, I really hope that's right!)

EDIT: You can also attach the --nointeraction flag to flash the thumb drive w/out prompts

Cool. So that still works, and it's the same process! That's how I did my upgrades from Lion all the way up to Sierra.

Thanks!

I've installed the last few updates on separate APFS volumes. While the setup can be a little time consuming, I've found it quite cleansing to start afresh each year. It's also proved invaluable in being able to test things across versions.

They can share the single system Applications folder, right? So it's just a matter of re-setting up things in your user profile folder? I know in theory this is the Unix Way and the way it should work but never actually tried it. May be the best way.

Came back after a short while and was surprised my M1 MBA had already finished updating. I logged in and let it sit there and it seemed like in under 30 minutes it finished indexing everything, including photos.

Didn’t really notice much of a difference which I guess is a good thing.
