Apple has benefited in many ways thanks to Googles contributions. There's plenty of business for everyone, no need to be jealous of Google. :)

I think the fact that people are still having problems with Gmail is a sign... that people need to drop Gmail as quickly as possible. This is the second major company (Microsoft isn't having much luck with Gmail either) that has had to bend over backwards because something "breaks Gmail support".

Meh. Thunderbird works (almost) fine (and you can do some work to make it better), and Mail.app was decent before Mavericks (I did make some changes to make archiving work how I wanted, but that's not even possible in the newest version).

Gmail's IMAP implementation is a bit non-standard, but the worst that should happen is it downloads your messages once per "label" instead of once period, and it may mess up the unread counts in such labels (folders in IMAP clients)--the latter is the biggest issue in Thunderbird, for example. Why Gmail implements labels with IMAP folders instead of IMAP keywords (labels) is beyond me....

Not many Exchange users I guess. I've never been able to get it to work reliably and obviously this update doesn't touch that.
I use an Exchange account with Mail and haven't been having any issues with OS X 10.9, nor beforehand. What problems are you having?

I as well have many issues with Mail 6.0 and 7.0 with Exchange (hosted Office 365).

Messages staying marked as unread, even after manually choosing mark read and replying to it. Moving a message to another folder, after read, sometimes shows unread in that folder. Sent messages send, but also stay in Drafts until manually clicking them in view. List goes on too... many other users in my office with large mailboxes (10 GB+) have the same issues.

I'm no fan of GMail, but Mac Mail is so lame. Any recommendations?

Store Draft Messages on the Server

When I try to uncheck the store draft messages on the server box under the gmail account settings in the mail app and save it, the box becomes checked again. If I am working on an email and it's put to the side or its just a long email, it adds at least 10 drafts to the folders... It's tiresome and I have keep deleting them. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

It will work for awhile then mysteriously stop receiving mail. After doing various voodoo like rebuilding the mailbox or deleting the account and starting over, it will work for a brief time and then stop receiving mail again.

There's another problem with Google that they need to fix. How about a Safari update to let you post YouTube comments without Google+? There's a slight workaround, but it would be cooler if Safari automated it :D

Just update Mavericks from the last developer version and installed the patch, great! So much more responsive!!! Feedback of all other issues later... testing my configuration using Mailbox app / boomerang / sanebox - really individual set-up that's what the patch was made for.

I had problems with Gmail BEFORE Mavericks, but after upgrading to Mavericks, my Gmail was fixed. Weird.

Still have the issue where I cannot uncheck save drafts on server - even after unchecking, saving, and exiting it continuously appears checked and doesn't actually change the setting. Will just deal with the multiple copies for now, or else keep writing drafts outside of mail in a text editor.

The update seemed to resolve my 1 unread message issue in my inbox with no unread messages.

My Exchange inbox isn't anywhere near as large as that, so it's quite possible that there's an issue with Mail and large Exchange inboxes. If it's you and other co-workers then I wonder if the issue has to do with the way that your office's Exchange server is set up. Do you have any iOS devices, and if so, do you have them configured to use your Exchange email as well? Any issues there?

I would use "Mail" if it would work properly with my Hotmail account, but I don't ever see Microsoft allowing IMAP synching for Hotmail on Mac OS... It's a shame, really.
