$2000 for a desktop computer and:

1)it still comes with 8GB ram (2 4GB chips!!!)
2)a non-SSD drive. Oh, but for an extra $500 you can get a 512GB flash drive (not sure if it's SSD or PCIe or other) when you can pick them up anywhere for $180 at RETAIL prices.
3)Oh, but wait...there's more!....they don't even tell you what i5 chip you are getting.
4)And there's no i7 option for people that, you know, spend $2000 and actually want some killer performance to somewhat future proof their investment.

Just wondering, could the $2000 retina model have a mobile CPU like the entry-level 21.5" model ?

Seems that the WWDC will cover more important topics then.... What ever that means. Maybe a new space grey Mac nano.... :D

I would think, but no confirmation on model numbers of the processors yet.

15" still uses "fourth-generation" intel chips, while the 13" uses "fifth-generation" intel chips.

So basically they added Force Touch to the 15" and did a very minor spec bump otherwise. I would expect they're going to skip Broadwell altogether and go straight to Skylake on the 15".

Ordered a 15" MacBook Pro.

Quite honestly, if there is a processor update coming later in the year, I won't be too bummed. After all, I'm going to have this machine for so long that for most of it's life it won't be the newest.

I'm just glad I waited for the Force Touch trackpad.

Yeah, this is a nice "feature update" with several performance tweaks.

Did you order the "base" model or the dGPU/$2500 (USD) model?

welp; I have been wanting to upgrade this 2010 imac for some time... but apple wont let me.

Please stop releasing ****. Gawd damn.

AMD?! I expect that in your low end stuff. Not a $3500.00 laptop.

Day 345

Still waiting for the broadwell macbooks to come out. I am starting to hear about new processors called Skylake.... whats that about?

Skylake won't make much of a difference for the 15" anyway, at least the dGPU one. Its main benefit is better integrated graphics.

I expect Skylake will bring with it a redesign to bring MacBook innovations to it--the new backlight system, metal hinge, USB C, etc, so if you don't care about any of that, no reason to wait.

this is joke.. new imac 5k with spinner?! really apple? and even weaker GPU? whoever buys that must be braindead

wow! was anyone expecting a silent release of these? I definitely thought it would be part of WWDC. IMO, this is good news and hopefully means there are some surprises :)

Does make one wonder what Apple has in store for WWDC on the hardware side.

Exactly. And my current laptop (non-Retina) is driving me up the wall.

Bit of a disappointing update. My current laptop is the first gen 15" rMBP from mid-2012 and it still has a better CPU and the same amount of RAM and SSD space as the lower-end 15" released today.

Yeah, but has it a Haswell as well?

So the 15" MBP now comes with more RAM standard than the top of the line Retina iMac haha. Oh boy

EDIT: Nvm. Apparently the mid-2014 also came with 16GB standard. Hmm

One has soldered RAM and comes in one size only (medium = 16GB). The other has user upgradeable RAM and comes in three sizes (small = 8GB, medium = 16GB, large = 32GB). So you are complaining about having more choices with the iMac.

Would've bought a 27" iMac if it came with 970 or 980M.

Bummer. Oh well, more for the bank, less for Apple and me. :(

Interesting to see benchmarks on the 370.

So I take it the performance of the R9 M370X is basically an unknown? People seem to be disappointed but I can't find any specs, other than a comment on another site suggesting it is ATIs competitor to the 950M.

Looks like people lost the ability to get the best gaming Mac with the discontinuation of the high-end non-retina iMac that was available with the 4771/and 780M.

If you're talking about the hard drive I'll bet you'll be disappointed the day you buy your first Fusion drive'd Mac...

A fusion drive upgrade of $200 alone justifies going with the $2300 iMac.

Fully agree. My sister has a 21.5" with HDD (5400 RPM 2.5") and the speed difference (i5 is almost the same) with my 5k is shocking sometimes. Much less lag and responsiveness.

Not sure if the experience using a 7200 RPM and 5400 RPM drive is large, but a fusion drive or flash drive certainly is. Well worth IMHO the extra money.
