Update: Apple has temporarily pulled the AirPods firmware update. It should be back in the next few days.
How did you know? It's still up on the support website.

I keep hearing about this. Is this a rumor or was there some news about what the patent was, etc?Didn't they release an update that reduced the quality of the AirPod Pro's noise cancellation feature following a lost in a law suit to a patent troll?
I have this happen all the time!!!Hopefully this fixes the issue of only one AirPod getting sound. So frustrating to have to put them back in the case and try again. And yes, I’ve tried resetting/repairing them to no avail.
One of mine has very low volume. I reset, cleaned and paired again, no change. I’ve resorted to changing the Balance so it sounds similar but this also lowered the overall volume. If I buy another pair I’ll always have anxiety of this happening again.Hopefully this fixes the issue of only one AirPod getting sound. the god i worship doesn't care about Capitalization or punctuation;Margaret,
It's Me, You-Know-Who.
Request denied. You left out a comma before your name and didn't capitalize Apple.![]()
The update info had the wrong download link, so your iPhone would never be able to download it. They have fixed it now.LOL who knows what bug was introduced that they had to pull it so fast xD
I'm happy to read that no bugs were involved...but you know....you always wonderThe update info had the wrong download link, so your iPhone would never be able to download it. They have fixed it now.
I open and close the case 3x, keep both it and iPhone charging. Wait.My Airpod Pros are on the old firmware what kind of sorcery do I have to invoke to update them?
It’s a suit by someone who bought Jawbone patents (their ANC was excellent but degraded fast as devices aged):I keep hearing about this. Is this a rumor or was there some news about what the patent was, etc?
Also, it's always possible that Apple is working on their own non-infringing noise cancellation tech and are rolling that out to devices.
Highly overrated.the god i worship doesn't care about Capitalization or punctuation;
Well covid must have had a pent-up impact… I’m more concerned with cloud services like Weather, Music and Apple Pay failing.Between seriously delayed products (seems a common thread through many Macrrumors articles) and updates being pulled, Apple seems a little out of sorts these days.
For those that are not on iOS 16, you will have to check in Settings, Bluetooth, and then tap on the AirPods. Scroll down to the About section and there is the version number.
Apple today introduced new 5E133 firmware for the AirPods 2, AirPods 3, the AirPods Max, the original AirPods Pro, and the AirPods Pro 2 up from the 5B58 and 5B59 firmware updates that were released in November and January.
You can check your AirPods firmware by following these steps:
- Connect your AirPods to your iOS device.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Tap About.
- Tap AirPods.
- Look at the number next to "Firmware Version."
MacRumors just edited the article deleting the mention of Apple pulling the firmware so either it was a mistake or Apple sent the firmware back out again. Either way I'm updated to 5Е133 nowMy APP just updated to the new firmware. Guess it’s back ON again.
Yep. I was coming to say same. Cheers! My APP just updated to the new firmware. Guess it’s back ON again.
How does ANC degrade as devices age? I don’t get itIt’s a suit by someone who bought Jawbone patents (their ANC was excellent but degraded fast as devices aged):
