I have a sense that this AirPods firmware upgrade thingy has the iPad weather app curse. A toggle for auto update will come, but it will take another 15 years to arrive. So until that time.. hang in there, buddy.
Yes, we definitely as users “aren’t requesting it in any great number” right now. Haha

Isn’t that what Apple said why no weather app?

Is this the update the removes noise cancellation and makes everything connect twice as long? Oh goody!

Let’s hope this fixes the insane battery drain. I’ll fully charge my AirPods Pro 2 and with light usage the case will be down to 30-50% in 24 hours.
Looks like they haven't updated that firmware?

Hopefully with this release they will fix APP2 disconnecting from AW when on a call and coming back in the range of the iPhone. Does any of you have the same issue? It happens to me when I initiate a call from my AW Cellular outside of the iPhone range and I get back into the range of iPhone being on the same call. It just simply switches to the AW speakers from APP2

Nooooo! I hope they didn’t mess with the EQ. The sub bass was much more improved in the previous version! They scooped out some mids (mud). Could use more treble extension, though.

My gen 1 Pro's updated quickly. Listened to 2 songs put them back in the case and placed them on top of my phone and they updated within 10 minutes.. Hopefully that happens every time from now on because in the past they always took awhile and a few attempts to trigger the update

Updated successfully. Only used them for a bit but sound the same as they did before.

Any news on if there is going to be PowerBeats Pro update as well. Sometimes they update together.

Will this firmware actually cause my APP to charge while in the case?
damn, are you having that issue, too?

I feel like I'm going crazy...and it isn't the optimized charging setting.

I've put them in the case and they come out the next day fully dead - as if they've been connected somehow to either my phone/iPad/MacBook without me knowing. I have the 2nd Gen. AirPods Pro by the way.

Apple today introduced new 5B59 firmware for the AirPods 2, the AirPods 3, the original AirPods Pro, and the AirPods Max, up from the 5B58 firmware that was released in November.

Apple does not offer immediately available release notes on what's included in refreshed firmware updates for the AirPods‌, but the company does maintain a support document with release information.

There is no standard way to upgrade the ‌AirPods‌‌ software, but firmware is installed over-the-air while the ‌‌AirPods‌‌ are connected to an iOS device. Putting the ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌‌‌ in the case, connecting the ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌‌‌ to a power source, and then pairing the ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌‌‌ to an iPhone or an iPad should force the update after a short period of time.

You can check your ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌ or ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods Pro‌‌‌‌‌‌ firmware by following these steps:
  • Connect your ‌‌AirPods‌‌ or ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods Pro‌‌‌‌‌ to your iOS device.
  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap General.
  • Tap About.
  • Tap ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌‌‌.
  • Look at the number next to "Firmware Version."
If we find notable changes after the firmware updates are installed, we'll update this article, but the software likely includes performance improvements and bug fixes.

What I want and is not delivered is my Airpod Pros to both hook to my Apple TV 4 and play for the same show!

My Airpod Pro first gen. updated fairly easily. Plugged into computer and being still plugged in connected to iphone and they updated. To me mine sound a bit clearer and seem louder. (they failed their test so these are newer than the original ones)

Wow that was fast. Just saw the article so I grabbed my AirPod 3s, opened the case and checked the info in my phone, still on the old one. Hit the connect button and like 2 seconds later, the info updated and its now on the new build?

Me too. I spent an hour texting Apple yesterday about this. Told me to take to Apple Store for diagnosis or pay $198 to mail them in to repair. After communicating how stupid that would be to spend more for repair than to buy new, I just stopped responding. No applecare for the record, but still stupid to quote more than new price for repair. Hoping software fixes issues.

Maybe since it is not for APP2, that it is a fix for the audio being unbalanced after pausing on older devices. Ever since 5B58 my original APP have had this issue. I have found when this occurs, I can change the output to iPhone and then back to AirPods and it is back to normal.
THIS. This is the issue I have and I feel like it’s impossible to describe to people. I really hope this update fixes it.

I’m not sure if this is new, but once the AirPods Pro are connected, they’re listed in the iPad’s left Settings plane / the iPhone’s main Settings list (above Aeroplane mode), negating the need to go via General etc.

Anyone else find it odd that headphone products need so many firmware updates? I know there is some software integration with them but doesn't seem like they'd be that complex to need so many updates?
Probably another change in the ANC software since Apple stolen a few patents and the patent troll company would sue the sh*t out of them.
