It seems that the refurbished models haven't had a price drop, yet...
Expect a Boot Camp update soon.
Expect a Boot Camp update soon.
Prepare for a new iPod coming out soon after the progamme...
No, unfortunately no. I wouldn't mind if dvi + audio to HDMI wasn't so @#$% expensive (hundreds of dollars for an adapter that just puts audio and dvi into one cable of the same standard??? WHY?!?!?)
This is all well and good but when will we see a case redesign already?!?!
64-bit editions should have no problems, but a 32-bit OS might hit a snag or two. For instance, putting 4GB in XP* is nice, but XP still won't assign more than 2GB of RAM to a single application, so the boot.ini file has to be modified to look something like this
Code:[boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional with 3GB switch" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /3GB multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
The /3GB switch tells XP it's ok to let an application have more RAM (up to 3GB).
*XP only shows 3.25 GB of RAM (but it is there)
sony had it before dell on the ultra portable![]()
and now the industry's first 15-inch LED-backlit display
Apple chooses the release dates for a number of factors. A drawback of relying on Mr J to announce products is that people hold off buying machines when they know/think hes going to do a keynote; if you can keep a customer guessing when a product is going to be updated, theyre less likely to wait for keynotes which helps a more consistent rate of sales over the year.If it was a strong update Steve would have done it himself next week. This is about as incremental as you get. Sure, it has the next gen mobo, but in this case the next gen isn't all that much better than the previous gen.
Are you taking VAT in to account? European prices include VAT; US-prices do not.
If you look around you can fly to New York, buy one there, fly home again and still be cheaper than the UK store. Oh and you'll get it quicker that way too...
2) buy an edu discounted model. No idea how much cheper - that's secret!
Why redesign the case? The silver round rectangle with glowing white Apple logo has become iconic. If it isn't broke, don't fix it.
I think this is all a sham. They pulled the same crap last summer with the Core Duo's. They introduced the new Core Duo last year... with a the FREE IPOD NANO!!! Oh yeah, three months later they had the "Core 2 Duo" with improved motherboards... Okay? Anybody see a pattern? They wait for college kids to take their old inventory and sweeten it by offering an iPod nano. Think about it, they upgraded the MacBook Pro's and MacBook's with "faster chips". No real structural improvement. I don't even think it is Santa Rosa!
I am switching my business to Mac's. I will be purchasing a combination of 27 desktops and laptops (plus server).
If I keep waiting, I will be waiting forever....
Do you agree now is the time? This is a huge investment for me
Mac-books - just updated
Mac-book Pro's - just updated
The lack of LED back-lit display does not bother me. Wouldn't order the first one's out anyway as Mac's have had their share of problems with display's...
If I see new iMacs at WWDC07 this is finally a done deal!
Are they actually shipping over at Dell, or did they just announce them yesterday?
even if it's opened? the receipt seems to indicate i'd get charged a 10% fee. i'm going to call and see if they even have the new models at the store yet and if i can exchange it when they open.
Also, just spoke to the Apple sales department.. - they said the 15" models don't have LED displays.![]()
With what? The Sims? WoW? A Mac is not a gaming machine. Unless they run well in bootcamp? Never used a Mac for PC games before.
This is what I'm afraid of.... If I install 4 GB of RAM, I'm afraid I might run into trouble when I try running XP/Vista 32-bit version.
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /3GB
How do you figure thus:It's definitely Santa Rosa. The GPU and CPU are basically the best ones you could get at this point.
EDIT: Interesting: The MacBooks have better Superdrives than MBP's do.
The more memory your computer has, the more programs you can run simultaneously, and the better performance you get from your computer. Increasing the amount of memory in your MacBook Pro is an easy way to improve performance.
How much memory is right for you?
Choose the standard 2GB of memory to support day-to-day tasks such as email, word processing, and web browsing as well as more complex tasks such as editing photos, creating illustrations, and building complex presentations
Max out your MacBook Pro with the 4GB option to enjoy the greatest possible performance for all your computing tasks.
The MacBook Pro uses one of the fastest memory technologies available today 667MHz, Double Data Rate (DDR2), synchronous dynamic random-access memory (SDRAM) ensuring that the Core 2 Duo processor is constantly fed with data without wasting clock cycles.
No mention whatsoever of the 800Mhz FSB........
