I believe the 2,2Ghz processor is a Santa Rosa part as a) There isn't a 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo as far as I know and b) the build-to-order options in the Mac store list memory options of 2Gb and 4Gb for all of the new Macbook Pro models, including the 2.2Ghz model. Oh, and C) we've already seen 2.2Ghz Santa Rosa CPU's in other laptops such as the Samsung SENS P55
This was a problem that chiefly affected the first revision of MBs. Although odd person are still being reported on sites like Macintouch, but its a lot rarer than it was. Apple will replace any affected parts though. You didn't mention the fugly discoloration (the palmrest of the MB is made of soft sweat and dirt absorbing plastic), but it sounds like you'd be ok with that as well, so I'd say go for it.
5400rpm are generally the most energy efficient barefeats has tested a variety of hard drives in MBPs dont have the links to hand, but theyre easy to find on site.Does anyone know what the 7200 rpm drive does to the battery life. Can't help thinking that with all that fast spinning that the power consumption would increase.
Does anyone have any information on the relative speed differences and power consumption differences between the different hard drive options? I seem to recall reading somewhere that the 4200rpm drive uses perpendicular technology and is effectively faster than the rpm would indicate ...
2 usb vs. 3 today
I am ready to upgrade to the new MBP, but would appreciate some advice from anyone who is more knowledgable on the subject than I...
I am in the design profession, and will be doing alot of heavy photo editing/rendering within Photoshop as well as other general design work with Adobe CS3, as well as working in programs such as Archicad within OSX. I will also be running Windows/bootcamp to run Autodesk architectural software. While basic AutoCAD is not an issue at all, I will be running heavier 3D rendering software such as Revit, but more importantly VIZ and Maya, and so I will need as much speed as I can afford.
My question is whether it is better to go with the 2.2 GHz Processor with an upgrade to 4gb of memory, or go with the 2.4 GHz Processor and stay with the 2gb of memory... Those two combinations are roughly comparable in price. Thanks in advance for any input!
Uh yeah, fear an article written on July 12, 2006.![]()
Their Canada education website is very... off. When you add in a component that should raise the price, it actually lowers it.

Well, how long has it been since the last release of the MacBook Pro till this one. This Macbook Pro is sure NOT much of improvement. I was expecting something great! Like in Speed (3 GHz) and Santa Rosa.
will dell accuse apple of photocopy? since they get LED laptop first..
Does it have hdmi?
