Mine is always connected to my Mac; still on 1.86.* but I am curious to see what this fixes. My girlfriend has one that she somehow managed to nerf (she somehow destroys every charger-like thing she comes into contact with, it's impressive).

The firmware file is also available for macOS, so it's possible that plugging it to a Mac will immediately update it, much like other MagSafe devices. Anyone want to test?
I lift mine plugged into my 14" MacBook Pro overnight -with no phone on it- and the firmware was updated this morning.

Apple carelessly designed the new iPhone 14 Pro cases so that they no longer fit on this charger's MagSafe connector properly and lift off by about 1mm because the camera frame on the case gets in the way. How did they not think to test the cases with their own charger? That's a BAD Apple. It's even more annoying that I own two of these things.
I have a 14 Pro with an Apple silicon case and it does have the gap you mentioned, but it still seems to work and charge just fine.

I will try, but I did this several times with the magsafe charging puck and it never updated. Only after using it regularly to charge my iPhone it updated, but after maybe several weeks of using it.
Did you try plugging the puck into a Mac or iPad? When I did my pucks updated in less than 5 minutes.

tbh my series 6 charges fast enough normally that I don't really feel the need for fast charging, it's not like the thing has a huge battery. Makes a difference on a phone or laptop, but on the watch it's not a huge difference.
I disagree. With sleep tracking and overnight wrist temperature monitoring, we basically need to wear our watch 24/7 to take full advantage of their features, so charging speed does matter quite a lot if I want to wear the watch basically all the time. There is a noticeable difference of charging speed between S6 and S7, and it is just so un-Apple that first-party chargers are not supporting their own latest charging technologies. And with existing fit issues on iPhone 13 Pro and 14 Pro, this product is overdue for an update (and why not a USB-C port in the back rather than lightning?)

Okay so the fastest way to update the MagSafe Duo firmware is to plug it in to your Mac. In my case I plugged it in my Mac Pro and within a minute it updated the firmware. I then plugged the other MagSafe Duo and same thing. Updated almost instantaneously.

Prior to this I left my iPhone 14 overnight (last night) and nothing happened. Same firmware this morning.

A few things:
- This charging mat/pad/thing has a firmware?
- How the hell do you update the firmware of a charging pad?
- Why does it need a firmware update anyway?

This thing has a damn 180mhz MCU and at least 10 other chips from companies like ST, TI and ON.

Here watch this so you guys can stop complaining about the price. The pcb’s are a thing of beauty. Anker could never.

My Ultra and iPhone 14 Max, with Apple leather case, work just fine with the Duo. It is super convenient for traveling. Both my wife and I own one for the sheer convenience. Worth every penny.
100% agree with you. Shear convenience. It’s compact, uses one cable for two devices, makes sense for traveling. Before updating firmware works fine with my AWU and all the bands, and in have them all. Not sure what the complaints are, maybe I’m missing the big picture here. Still want the firmware update, but don’t know why since we don’t know WTF it does. lolz

you’re correct in the rest of your comments. Thing of beauty indeed.

So does this mean that all MagSafe chargers have some sort of wireless communications chip inside to transfer data to and from the iPhone? Why did I not know
What? That’s news to me…. I charge my ultra every day on this. With all kinds of bands on and no adjustment necessary. Just pop it on like all my previous watches.
Agreed. No issue here.

I've had mine plugged into my MacBook Pro all night and all morning; still not updated. Tried cycling the power on phone and MacBook but still nothing

Is spatial audio new as a part of this release? I knocked it off my desk after the update and I could TOTALLY hear exactly where it landed, in front of me, to my right and below. It was like it was really there, AND IT WAS.

UPDATE: Filing a bug. Apparently the new spatial audio features work on certain surfaces. :(

Same with me so I eventually gave up.
