@sk2sep2304 Any progress?

I left mine plugged in for a while and they say 0.0.2.56 - is this the new firmware or no?
After i checked an hour or so later, it's updated to 256.0.0.0 since - it's not like we know what the difference is anyway lol. maybe MR can do the testing for charge rate, temps, etc

I guess I could've checked before and after charge rate with my USB-C charge reader (volts, watts and amps). With the a 14pro at 87% - reader shows 5.05V, 1.45A, 7.32w.

Anyone have a way to measure the same on older FW?

Apple carelessly designed the new iPhone 14 Pro cases so that they no longer fit on this charger's MagSafe connector properly and lift off by about 1mm because the camera frame on the case gets in the way. How did they not think to test the cases with their own charger? That's a BAD Apple. It's even more annoying that I own two of these things.
It fits fine on mine

The pricing of this thing remains absurd. It’s more than a HomePod mini and the kicker is this “charger” doesn’t even include a charger in the box!
I have so many charging adaptors laying around I wasn't bothered. I think it should be around $70 or so for what it is though.

Did you have your phone on the charger? I left my duo plugged into my MacBook overnight (without my phone on it) and still at 0.0.2.56 this morning. I restarted the MacBook and iPhone, so we will see what happens later on today.

If you pop your phone on it with the 0.0.2.56 after 10 min of so it’s goes to the 256.0.0.0. I think it’s just slower at reading the version number for some reason.

Yeah, finally went to 256.0.0.0. Not sure how long it took as I was taking my phone off the duo throughout the morning, but it updated by the afternoon. Also, when it was showing 0.0.2.56, there was no serial number displayed. Now that it is at 256.0.0.0 the serial number shows up as well.

Does this mean there is an additional update the duo needs to make? 256.1067.0? Mine finally updated tonight to 256.0.0.0 but article states 256.1067.0

I disagree. With sleep tracking and overnight wrist temperature monitoring, we basically need to wear our watch 24/7 to take full advantage of their features, so charging speed does matter quite a lot if I want to wear the watch basically all the time. There is a noticeable difference of charging speed between S6 and S7, and it is just so un-Apple that first-party chargers are not supporting their own latest charging technologies. And with existing fit issues on iPhone 13 Pro and 14 Pro, this product is overdue for an update (and why not a USB-C port in the back rather than lightning?)

Agree 100%.

As for the fast charging of the new Apple Watch. That does not appear to be a firmware limitation and more so hardware. This mag safe duo was released prior to the introduction of the fast charging on the Series 7. To me, especially with the new Apple Watch Ultra, fast charging is much more practical.

Any word on the charging speed increasing for the watch with this update?

I know the Magsafe puck was supporting 17w charging (unannounced), but I am unsure if that was due to the firmware update apple pushed.

Yes.

Fwiw, MacBook brick charged at 9V 2A ~18w

Strange, yesterday I did the 'reboot iphone' thing, and then it showed firmware of 256.0.0.0 and the serial number of the Duo. Today it has reverted to 0.0.2.56 and no serial number...

New firmware released today
I don't think this applies to the Duo. I have two of these, and none updated since yesterday. Last time it updated instantaneously upon connection to my desktop. It's been on an overnight connection, and no new updates.

Still on version 256.

Whoops, I was on older firmware (186) so when it updated to 256 I mistakenly thought it was new.
