I ordered two days after release, and as of today, my shipping is still Priority Overnite. 🙁

I'm not sure if this has to do with being a student developer, or whatnot. I just hope I'm one of the first to get mine delivered.... 😉

But it isn't Bestway.... for free.... 😛 😀

You are not alone invaLPsion. We ordered on June 9th also and have received the exact same shipping changes you have received. Ground then 2-Day then Priority Overnite. Our order now states "Bestway" as shipping method. Anyone know what this means? Very strange indeed. 😕

I also have bestway shipping, not sure what it means, I ordered on the 11th. So i guess we shall see in the near future if we get ours early or what not. I really hope it ships early as being a new switcher it will really be nice to move over from WinXP.

I wouldn't pay $80 for overnight, not that desperate. The deal that they offered until Saturday at midnight was awesome. You could get two day Fed-EX free. Now it's back to standard free shipping.

Apple is not selling the new PowerMacs in Brazil. The old stock of 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 PMs still "surviving", because of their very high prices. Take a look at the PowerMac G5 prices in Brazil:

1.6 - R$ 10,290.00 (or US$ 3,319.35)
Dual 1.8 - R$ 13,991.00 (or US$ 4,513.22)
Dual 2.0 - R$ 16,491.00 (or US$ 5,319.67)

Just a comment on the Brasil prices. Do you know if Apple manufactures in Brasil or they ship em in? If they ship em in that's why the price is so high. Brasil has like a 40% import tax if things are made out of country. That's why my employer has a manufacturing facility in Brasil.

I see what you mean, on the main Apple Store sit you are correct. I had gone directly to this page from apple.com. I was looking at the Power Mac G5 page, "Free Ground Shipping," is listed in the upper hand corner. Amazing the $500 deal is listed on that same page, but clicking on it fine print it ends 6/26. I really wanted to take advantage of the deal.

The only thing now that is enticing is the 90 day same as cash. I hoping that they will offer the 1 year deal ASAP.

c'mon...... you guys didn't REALLY expect the new 2.5's to ship straight away did you?
this is Apple we're talking about. announce today, ship whenever. current Rev B orders will prolly start landing once the 3.0's are announced, then the 3's will ship when the G6 is announced, which will start shipping when the Rev B's are announced.
ok, maybe i'm being a little cynical here, but (as a die-hard macaddict) it's one of the things that has been a constant piss-off with apple ever since my aunts 'Lisa' was delayed by a couple of months due to "unforseen demand".
you'd think stevie would have learnt this lesson by now, wouldn't you?
btw - having to pay an extra shipping charge, on top of the cost of the box and AppleCare is a bit rich really. 😡

🙁 I guess I was wrong about an announcement stating our new 2.5's would start shipping. One would think with the second financial quarter ending, that Apple would want an additional 3 or 4 million dollars to help out the bottom line. Oh well, I guess we(Apple and I) don't think alike.

I guess mid-July would be O.K. but I wish Apple would just tell folks when they order when their products will ship. Instead of "on or before" or sometime in July. When we ordered we were initially told by our Apple salesperson that our order would ship in July. Pressed further, he replied, "Early July." We took him at his word. Hopefully early July comes true. But perhaps we are just too gullible. Just send us our 2.5's so we can get some work done.

I know it wasnt like this initially. I dont know if thats something to get excited about or not. I mean, HEY when they ship it, it'll get here over night...but what if they don't ship it until 8/2/04? I dont mind waiting. It's, but like the above posters have mentioned, it's the lack of a solid date. "july" and "on or before 8/2/04" is a little vague. i ordered through developer on the day they announced them (like many of you...i had been waiting since december). this is also going to be my first (well...techincally "my" first mac) and i dont want it to be my last. if anyone here's anything, or has heard anyting about the status or anything of that nature pass it my way...i'm dying over here. www.waltzillustration.com

I believe Bestway is a trucking company. I also had got the ground to priority overnite and the bestway. I'm a little puzzled 😕 by apple's methods. You think those of us who ordered early the 2.5 gs' would get some extra attention not more of the same bs. 😎

atleast there are others out there who feel our pain. i was scouring the rumor sites before the rev b g5's were annouced for tidbits of info about when they were coming, and now i find myself scouring them to find out if there's any tidbits about when they might be shipping.. Make sure you consider import duties - which Apple has no control over - in these comparisons. Macs ARE more expensive outside the US, but not all that much in most cases once you correct for import duties.

Of course they would LIKE the extra revenue.

But you don't always get what you want. If they still don't have enough chips or motherboards or whatever, it's not going to happen sooner.

Apple has a habit of stopping production at the end of a quarter....
Its a bean counter thing..


Any products that they announce at the end of a quarter always seem to take about a month to actually ship..... At least thats my experience with Apple.

Some shipping company defines bestway as "the shipping method that is best for your location as deemed by the company." Does that mean the fastest way? Or just the best and cheapest way for the company?

It can't be Bestway the company, because they only ship within the United States and the BTOs are from China.

my apple store salesman also used the phrase early july on my bto dual 2.5. i didn't press him for any more info than that, but am starting to wonder if anyone (at the wwdc or otherwise) has any info as to when they will ship. i stuck with the standard free shipping which says priority overnight and on or before 7/30/2004.

I ordered through a reseller (official), so he can not tell more than "in july", but I called Apple Belgium, and he looked it up in his pc (oops mac 😉), and it said "Mid-july" on his screen.

But the fact that your shipping dates vary from july 30th until august 2nd, is really weird.. Guess we will have to wait for the first person to shout out and prove it with pictures that it's 2.5 has arrived 🙂

I bet my alu acd will arrive earlier than my computer, but I don't have dvi on my pc gpu, so i'll have to stare at it without using it..sigh..
