Their clearly taking about the menu icons in the top right
Is it me or did they do just that? I think they're a bit more cramped now:

Prepping you for Apple Silicone based MacBook Pro? 🤷‍♂️
P.S. it's Beta software so don't expect everything running smoothly, plus I think their focus is on the Apple Silicone and optimisations, rather than how it works on Intel.
P.S.2 I'm not saying that's a good thing 😅

No, Tim Cook said that more intel macs are on the way and that Apple will service intel makes for more than a few years...

Yes, their focus is on their silicone, but they are also working for their last patch of intel systems to work, including Mac Pro.

I do not think people know what it takes to write code, especially something THIS massive. It does not matter how big a company you are, or how much money or salary you have. Rewriting an OS takes time and work, with A LOT of errors, missing up on code (and trying to find where) etc.

I would be surprise if 11.0 even works out the door in November.. :)

Silicon, everybody. Silicone is for candy molds and implants.

I have an iMac, 2019, 8GB memory and I want tell you one thing: virtually impossible to use this crap. The overheat (you just can open two applications, anyone!) is unbearable (sometimes, and I don't know why, just Safari can do that). Impossible, so far, to use my own photos (in a folder I placed inside Documents folder) because System Preferences simply freezes trying to load the pictures. Impossible to add the date to the Task Bar just because all the options in Clock (System Preferences) are greyed, no matter if you unlock it or not. I know, I know, it's a beta. But it is the 9th beta already and I don't believe Apple will fix all that **** before the final release. Oh how I miss Tiger and those Steve Jobs old days...

My show-stopper is now fixed.

For at least the last two betas, System Preferences would beachball for minutes at a time after startup, after wake from sleep and when selecting items within the prefs window.

All of that is now working as expected.

Given that this wasn't mentioned by many people as a problem, I gather it was a bad interaction between System Prefs and something else running. I don't know why it was broken, but I'm glad it's fixed!

I still can't tell if I'm extremely lucky I don't have the fan noise issue on my 16" MBP, or if the issue is relatively overblown, or it's somewhere in the middle. I have never had a single problem with it whatsoever, no matter how many monitors are plugged in.

I still have a strange issue with the Big Sur betas and my test machine Late 2013 13" MBP. I'm not sure if it's a bug, or the new behavior of the new os.

Anyway, when I shut down, it takes about 10 to 30 seconds before the power button turns the mac back on. I find this strange because the screen and keyboard lights usually turn off almost instantly. There is also a longer delay on a system restart than previous versions of the macOS as well.

Maybe someone can comment who has some insight into this, that I may not.

8 betas (9 now) and they didn’t fix the fan issue with the MacBook Pro 16-inch when connected to an external monitor. At this point I’m ready to give up and sale this piece of c.... machine.
I have a 16" MBP, (i9), connected to a Caldigit TS3+, driving a 32" 4K BenQ Designer display , I have not had any issues with fans on any of the Betas? What TB3 connector are you using? My TB3 cable is plugged in on one of the right hand side ports.

Software development bugs are a geometric progression with increase in code size. Every new "feature" is more bloat that is going to break 500 other things. Simpler, atomic functions are better. make things stand alone and let us remove what we don't like - like the stock tracker and chess lol. Simpler for everybody and easier to debug. There have been bugs in there for a decade. I used to report stuff all the time through the developer bug tracker, but eventually stopped - I'm not being paid to do QA for them but clearly testing needs a major makeover to address the complexity of the product.

I know I'll regret asking and will never unsee it afterwards, but what is misaligned? It looks okay to me, I'm not seeing it?

Whenever there is a check or other symbol next to a menu item, it doesn't align correctly with the name of the menu:

It's a very small detail most people probably wouldn't notice, but being a graphic designer I noticed it right away and it's actually pretty irritating.

It is possible that it's intentional, but it just seems a bit weird to me. I'd prefer it aligned.

Anyone still experiencing crashing issues with Safari? Also, although I have it set up for apps to open into their dock applications icons, Safari for some reason opens an extra icon in the dock when it is launched. I have submitted this feedback early on in the beta process...

Seems like the words are aligned with the name of the menu

It's clearly intentional - the text is aligned, not the menu edge. Look at the text - "as" is left-aligned with "View" in the check example. Same with the Window example.

It looks to me like they've made a decision to make the menu item text aligned with the menu title text rather than have the menu items indented regardless of checks as they did in previous versions (having just had to look how menus are shown in High Sierra). Where there are no checked items I think this is a much nicer look, but the trade off is that when there is a checked item this appears to be forcing expansion of the menu outline out to the left to preserve the text alignment and make room for the check.
