OH MY GOD, YES!

I was thinking the same thing!

And people who have perfectly good working 2.0 software w/ the same build # will most likely in a paranoid frenzy BRICK their iPhone TODAY with the allegedly somehow different OFFICIAL VERSION!

LMAO :D

FINALLY got it in NY. been clicking update like all the rest of you. at 9am eastern time exactly it started

Update

I now havea 2.0 phone but it is now stuck n trying to access itunes store so I can edit settings and sync options crazy stuff here!

is anyone else having problems connecting to the iTunes store once everything has been loaded on your phone??? mine keeps timing out.

Mine's waiting for activation. Seems kind of dumb, since AT&T's gotta be pretty busy right now.

Can some one tell me how to download it without going through iTunes? It won't let me restore, says it can't find the requested resource.

Give it time. I updated yesterday, and was getting the same error up until a few minutes ago.

Clicked restore and it is now downloading 2.0 from the apple servers.

Now it doesn't mean it's actually going to update (I wonder what error it will throw out), but I am getting the software through iTunes...

The "1,1" designation is different.

but It may just be a file naming difference as build numbers tend to be very specific, and it seems unlikely that Apple would have two versions of 5A347.

But if one was 225MB and the other 218MB something doesn't add up. :) If yesterday's was labeled as 1,2 and today's is 1,1, perhaps the 1,2 is an upgrade for the 3G iPhone's as they may need some additional code to work with newer hardware like the GPS chip, etc?

Wow. the 2.0 update was released precisely at 8AM here in Chicago. I was clicking since 7:50AM and all I was getting was 1.1.4.

Taking less than 3 minutes to download 218.2 MB. I'm at work on a T3 line.

Update: Well it took about 18 minutes from download to install on a 4GB iPhone with only contacts and calendar (work machine). I sync music and photos on my home PC.

But now the phone is locked and asking to be connected to iTunes. I connect to iTunes and get the following message:

X We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network setting are correct and your network connection is active, then try again.

:-(

Ummm, I don't think 6 million people downloading now. Many have jobs, lives, or are getting booty.

Darn

It took awhile, but iTunes finally recognizes the update. But when I try to download the firmware, iTunes tells me that the store is temporarily unavailable.
